Ugh, in the new video she said one of her goals is to take more cold showers. How textbook anorexic can you get. It's literally like her entire routine is built on tips and tricks from pro ana forums. "Start your day with hot water and lemon to feel full" "Load up on veggies which are high volume but low calorie" "Avoid fats at all costs" "Take cold showers to burn extra calories" "Exercise in your room so no one clocks it's a problem" "Wear baggy clothes so people don't see how thin you're getting" "Go vegan so you have an excuse for cutting out foods". I'm a recovered anorexic and can read her from a mile away.

I think it's either the race, or her biology channel. In the comments of her videos, people have mentioned her calling it "BiHollyG" a play of words on biology and by holly g, and in her stories her said "get ready for something BiG" where BiG kinda reminds me of the name spelled like that, but it could just be to be quirky idk
Calling it that would be a terrible idea, I'd be thinking it's some sort of bisexuality-related venture rather than anything to do with biology

Also in the recent video, it’s proof Holly is treading on egg shells around her mum trying to reassure her of everything. Oh and also Caroline’s clear control/clean issues.

Holly spills some oats in the microwave and proceeds to explain she’s ‘lucky her mum was doing a lateral flow test’ (because she wasn’t in the kitchen) and then proceeds to reassure her mum ‘I’ll sort it mum don’t worry I’ll sort it’.... can’t her mum trust that her 23 year old daughter will tidy her own mess? Jesus

And then there was when Holly was sitting on the floor instead of the sofa. Hollys mum firstly asks her why she’s on the floor, and then goes on to say that Holly ‘can’t sit on the sofa now’ because she’s ‘got all dirty’ from sitting on her (probably) immaculately hoovered wood flooring. Absolutely ludicrous?

Yeah woof that video. Just woof. Honestly it just made me so, so angry to hear what Holly went through apparently without any help from her supposedly oh-so-great-and-supportive parents. I mean what the actual fuck?? At this point I just feel so sorry for Holly.

For starters, it sounds like Holly's mum never really explained much about periods to her. Because Holly explicitly mentions that she was super scared and confused when she got cramps during her period for the first time (when she was like 13-ish) - this means that noone ever told her about the side effects that can come with periods. And 13-year old Holly then felt like she had to hide that she was suffering from cramps, not tell anyone, not ask for help, and just 'power through' her school day in spite of the pain. I mean, there's something seriously messed up with this. And I don't blame Holly for this at all since she was a literal child at the time, but why wasn't her mum more supportive? Why didn't she explain these things to her daughter, and help her deal with it?

Honestly it's no wonder that teenage Holly was apparently so scared of her period, if she didn't get the information and support she needed. But God it's just sad to think about a kid so worried about "fulfilling expectations" (Holly's wording) that she sees her period as scary potential obstacle to a perfect dance performance. It's just. Not good, and it goes to show that Holly just didn't get the support she needed at home :/

But like others mentioned, the Big Obvious Glaring Issue is how Holly lost her period for SEVEN YEARS due to her eating disorder and her parents never once got her the professional help she clearly urgently needed?? I mean, for the first three years or so of this Holly was still a minor, living in her parents' house, under their care, and they apparently just ignored that she lost her period? Apart from everything else, this is shocking to me because you can lose your period for many reasons, some of them serious medical conditions, and also not having your period can have bad medical consequences in and of itself. Holly herself said that she "shudders to think" what her bone density must've been like during these years but then sort of shrugs it off in the video but like? Didn't her parents worry about her health at all??

And yes, apart from threatening her with not being allowed to go to Cambridge, I don't think Holly ever mentioned her parents doing anything in reaction to her severe eating disorder. (Like way to go, put yet more pressure on your daughter who is clearly under so much pressure already that she developed an ED as a maladjusted coping strategy! Such a good idea! Such great parenting!)

Also a big old WTF at that doctor at Cambridge who wanted to put Holly on the pill but apparently didn't inquire into the causes of her lack of hormones and her malnourishment/didn't try to get a psychologist involved. But also Holly shrugging it off by saying she "didn't want to go on the pill" - that's just weirdly reminiscent of Emily professing she "doesn't believe" in hormonal birth control. Maybe a family thing too? (Kinda weird, thinking the pill is harmful but apparently not thinking that having an untreated ED for seven years is harmful)

And Holly saying that she "didn't have time to think about" her missing period during her Cambridge years because she was too busy - that is a mental health red flag too, imho. In fact that whole video feels like one big red flag to me.

I just hope that Holly is seeing a therapist and simply doesn't mention it on camera (though why she would do that is beyond me, seeing how she shares literally every other intimate detail about her life). I just hope that she's finally getting help because oh boy does she need it. Honestly being left alone with an untreated serious mental health condition like that can be traumatizing in and of itself.

tl;dr Just me ranting about Holly's parents for a bit because holy hell they sure didn't handle Holly's ED well. Neglect can take many forms. :/

She is incredibly immature, to the point where I forget she is an adult. Why basically say that it’s shit in a joking way when she’s literally been paid to advertise the product?
Honestly I cannot believe how unprofessional she is, like she really doesn’t deserve all these sponsorships because she can’t even act like a professional adult.
Things like this really highlight how little experience she has in the real world. People who have worked for others in real jobs know how important it is to remain professional about their work, whereas holly does not give a shit.

'I dont wanna use condoms because there is so much waste!' Ok love if you want to put your crazy sustainable vegan eco-friendly before your own sexual health but maybe just emphasise that condoms are very important in protecting from STI, unless you claim your vegan diet does that itself!

3 years for a BS and 1 for MSc ?
Is this system for real?
How come they don’t all suffer from imposter syndrome ? 😳
Let’s not get into university wars here. These courses are intense, especially at the top unis Holly’s been to. Just because it’s shorter doesn’t mean the content isn’t covered as well as a longer degree programme in the US/elsewhere.

Some graduates do have imposter syndrome but it’s unlikely to be down to lack of subject knowledge.

So, this was the first video of holly I’ve watched in a long time and purely because I like Nasir (guess she got me with her stupid click baiting 🤭).
And it was absolute torture. She has gotten so obnoxious and unlikeable. Who does she think she is?!

Holly.
If you are complaining about the routine the whole time, then don’t do it? Stop pretending like your behaviour/life is soo much better? Not drinking coffee or not having had a relationship is not a personality trait nor does it make you any better?! Why the fuck did you apply to Med school if you can’t watch him doing stitches on A DUMMY?! wtf 😂 and ps: your hair looks like that because you are probably quite severely malnourished

I think replying to comments is essentially the same as someone working in customer service replying to an inquiry. Always stay professional and perhaps a bit too nice as in the end the viewer / customer is what generates an income.
Most influencer seem to forget that without people who watch their videos, like and comment they wouldn’t make money and get all those opportunities. Acting like Holly is the perfect example of someone who thinks she’s so much better and above their viewers

I’m just gonna say it’s no wonder her only offers were Wageningen and ucl

Higher ed research is one of my side interests so if there are any international forums (other than reddit) debating degrees and such please let me know.

Btw here is a very interesting article

Nevertheless, I’ve been following Holly since she got into Cambridge and I’ve been also checking the NatSci curriculum and what other students are doing and where they are now.
So to conclude, I do believe her masters is a cash grab (as most masters are).
Again, let's not get into university wars... We get it, you think your country's higher ed system is better than Britain's. That's not the general consensus though 🤷‍♀️

The reason why UK degrees are shorter than their US counterparts is because we specialise earlier. By 16 we're only studying three subjects. At university we only study the one. There are pros and cons of each system, but that is why UK students can have an MSc in 3+1 years and have covered the same content.

On her IG story ; "would you like a morning routine from Matthew or Dad?"

NONE!! THEY CLEARLY DON'T WANT TO BE IN YOUR VIDEOS AND FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE! HOW IS IT THAT STRANGERS ON THE INTERNET CAN UNDERSTAND THAT BUT YOU CAN'T??

Holly has become so immature ever since she went back home I swear :(

I hate her smug face. How can anyone find her likeable? That's not even badly disguised humor. That's plain superiority complex.
oh Holly has one of the biggest superiority complexes I've seen - remember when she did all her group project herself, probably because her classmates would get it "wrong"

Holly IG bingo:
  • Training bra
  • Mention of how ripped she is
  • Infantile rambling captions with a weird sexual-adjacent reference to her body ('bootay' 🤮)
  • At least 4 pictures that look exactly the same
  • Dry food
  • More dry food

I think it speaks volumes about her socioeconomic privilege that she's able to pursue a Master's degree for £15,000 without having any concrete plans as to what she actually wants to do with her degree.

Tbh neither of the business names are good. The fact that she's attached her name to it feels quite limiting in a way, particularly with tutoring where she's using other people as the tutors? The names make it seem amateur and unprofessional, would really put me off. Why does she need to stick her name in it? Just use 'terrific tutoring' or some other shite, otherwise people who don't watch her YouTube are gonna be like 'who tf is Holly' lol, it just seems pretty self centered to me, assuming people know who Holly G is.
