In all honesty I think Holly still suffers from some levels of disordered eating and body dismorphia. It might not be anorexia as it once was but it’s clear she’s still on the road to recovery and it’s important to remember that once you’ve had an eating disorder the rest of your life you’ll be battling against your internal monologue. The voices don’t ever go away completely they just get quieter and easier to deal with.

in no way do I think Holly is fully recovered (I don’t think her saying she’s at her ideal optimum weight is healthy tbh), she wouldn’t be happy to gain any more weight than what is on her now (and that’s an issue). I do think she still has leaps and bounds to go before the voices in her head are quiet enough to let her get on with life carefree. Just because she said she’s at a good point now doesn’t mean she still can’t go up from there.

I agree she genuinely seems really emaciated these days. in her latest video she did mention that she had a coach.I dont think this marathon is a good idea seeing as she clearly hasn't recovered. She literally is the combination of an old lady and a little child in her picture where she goes rockclimbing she just looked really ill.Her chest is flatter than ever.I just hope she gets help and stops posting triggering content and then claiming she is healthy when she clearly isnt.

Excuse my ignorance, I’m the size that could “give her some of my fat” and still be bigger than average but would the age an ED starts impact how she looks in recovery. As in if it started before she developed a chest could it mean she will always be very small chest.
I know someone who had one way before puberty and slowly is going through it now although very! delayed and there are no problems on that side - it's more got to do with genetics and probability just like with anyone

and of course there are different types of EDs that can affect your health but not your period, but since we're talking about Holly's issues and thus restrictive eating that leads to emaciation (whether it is anorexia or orthorexia) it's relevant here. In other cases it might not

I don't know if Holly reads here, but if she does, I am actually very happy with the video - of course I think there are issues she could address in a deeper fashion (maybe look back on her "recovery" video and talk about whether she realised she wasn't, opening up if she wants about her recovery now etc). It's not where many of us here would like it to be, but I'm glad she has admitted to some of her health history that she kept hiding before.. good move!

the fact that she is flat chested just makes her look super childish and then her face looks like a old lady and a little child even though she is 23 i honestly thing she looks really bad when she claims to be at a healthy weight when she clearly isnt.

at this point she just seems extremely malnurished

I think it's possible she reached somewhat of a healthy weight, like BMI wise on the higher end of underweight/just within the normal range: I think her GP gave her a thumbs up after having seen her even skinnier and didn't want to deal with her anymore, or she also could have met her goal since she eats many carbs and they hold on to water, so she could have "added" an extra 2-3 kilos which would have allowed her to meet her GP's goal or something - this is all speculation, but these are the vibes I'm getting from her

again super happy that she got her period back!!

because she only has muscles and bones, and muscles weight more than fat... but it's not healthy for a woman to have the bodyfat percentage she seems to have, especially over a long period of time....

the fact she claims to have 3000 calories while only eating some form of bland boiled vegetables or fruit and oats with a drizzle of penut butter for every meal is just ridiculous i have noticed in her face especially she just looks really ill and like she hasnt eaten in ages i am surprised her familly allow her to continue living this way.She keeps on saying my body has changed and ive learnt to accept that but she clearly just looks more sick than she ever has.

her exersise habtis scream anorexia its always some form of cardio followed of with a side of grass.

in her recent video the kim k one she literally did a fat burning workout and then claims thats just the way her body is

her thighs just seem really disproportionate to the rest of her body like here chest is flat af and her arms are literally sticks i think training for a marathon isnt helping her at all

her thighs are just really bulky and not in a good way

it seems like all the fat has just gone and she wont dare to use any kind of oil in her cooking

i just hope her young impressionable followers open their eyes and start holding her to account more.

I seriously think there is no chance that her followers will inspire this kind of change. First, even people close to those suffering from an ED often experience severe difficulties in motivating those suffering to accept the need for help and professional support. And second, the number of concerned followers will always be too few and she is so deep in that every piece of advice or concern (even if it comes from a sincere place) will only be met by utter defensiveness. There is nothing but denial at this point. Additionally, she has this very weird relationship to her channel, where she uses it for self-experiments, "opening up", exploring herself, which are mostly applauded even if I consider them to be quite ineffective at least and harmful at worst.

I seriously wish that she could take a step back, tackle whatever issues there are WITH professional help and OFF camera and then come back later. But of course, this won't happen.

I’d just like to advocate for those of us who are INFJ and not Holly haha. I’m a very kind, loving, deeply empathetic, introvert INFJ hoping to work in child protection. I’m a big nerd with a warm heart lmao pls I promise there are good ones out there 😂

Thank you for summarising the Q&A @ECH

People ask weird questions for youtuber/influencer Q&As. I sort of get it, humans are nosy etc. But I also can't imagine asking someone about their first kiss? or if they have a period? It's just entirely not my business.

That said, despite it not being my business I worry for Holly because as some of you have mentioned her behaviour around food and exercise still seems a bit disordered. :(

Tbh Holly herself plays up all of the stuff with boys in a lot of her videos. I remember a series of videos and titled like BOY STORIES FROM AUSTRALIA implying there would be some kind of juicy gossip/romance and it was stuff like "This guy held my bag in the air port" and "I caught a bus to the hostel with these two guys". She uses that intrigue around herself to create views so you can't really judge people asking about it.

Honestly I know it's a bit out of line to talk about someone's gender identity but I am seriously wondering if she's non-binary as well as asexual. If she's scared of having periods (altho I know how terrible periods can be for many women) and has this potential ED maybe it's because she does not want any womanly features due to have gender identity issues. The fact she has not had a boyfriend or kissed as well maybe points to some degree of asexuality. By her age, even the people most incompetent at relationships have usually had some measure of sexual experience....

I’m a lesbian and I have better “boy stories” than that. Saying that I wasn’t the best student, some teachers were surprised I made it out with my exams passed.

Although she's not fully recovered, I'm glad she can look back over the past few years and say she is now in a better place. However, in her video she did mention specifically feeling better than she did 2 years ago. I find this maybe a little worrying considering we've been in a pandemic for the past 15 months, if she feels she's made so much progress when she's been at home, not socialising and mainly working from her bedroom, I just hope that she doesn't associate such an isolating and lonely existence with feeling "recovered"

I've just watched the Q&A video, and if you listen she says she does not consider herself underweight because shes reached a weight where her "body functions normally". So I don't think shes saying that BMI wise shes not underweight, I think shes made up her own definition, which is concerning 🤔

Also, not that I want to know the details, but you can kind-of say anything online and it may or may not be true. I know there’s a bit of a fixation restarting your period in anorexia recovery because of what it signifies, but we only know what Holly is saying here. It’s fine if she wants to share that but it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true ...

I have several INfJ friends and I don’t think Holly is one. More like INTJ to me.

i just saw that she posted a new byhollyg video and as a biological sciences student, i really wish she'd cover slightly more interesting topics, like taking a complex concept that she's encountered in her masters and breaking it down to make it understandable, or even just exploring something interesting that reaches out of an a-level biology class or an 'introduction to biology' textbook.

the 'guide to an animal cell' video just really irked me in particular - she has a massive platform and it'd be great for her to use it to talk about things that would inspire her young audience, rather than what could be considered watered down khan academy videos.

I don’t think she’ll do that because she’s:

1. too concerned about her tutoring business to think about these videos. It’s basically ‘you can watch these simple as duck videos for free but if you want anything useful you’ll have to pay me or my company £50’

and 2. Too worried about any of her masters content being unpublished so she won’t have people stealing any of her unique and clever ideas (or something that would form something for her thesis🙄)

Yo, the reason everyone picks the supposedly "rarest" Meyers-Briggs personalitiy types is that these categories are super broad, most people will identify with them somehow, and you might as well just get your fortune read at a county fair...

Much like horoscopes I think it can be useful to start thinking about one's personality traits, habits, fears, behaviors etc., so I don't deny these tests could have a positive impact. But to evaluate whether Holly is the type she claims to be is about as scientifically valid as if you pulled out today's horoscope and tried to determine her birthday based on what it tells you...
