A broad comment on tattle because you could ask the same question on any thread: I think pretty much every influencer reads their own shit don't they? It doesn't change what I post, but I'd only ever post something I'd be happy with having my full gov't name attached to anyway, I wouldn't post anything trollish or genuinely hateful. I don't like comments on people's appearances (outside of dumb shit like ugly clothes) or weight, I report fatphobia which is rife in some of the + girls threads and I think unfair for both them & other members who are plus.

I think influencers/influencing is a really shitty and gross industry and I'm glad places like Tattle exist for women (the primary targets of it) to discuss it, I think it's actually quite healthy for us. Influencers & the brands they work for have gotten away with operating in & profiting from a complete wild west in advertising regulations and it's a social ill in my opinion. Like to get an ad cleared for TV is fucking TOUGH, the ASA are all over every single claim and yet still we have influencers with undeclared ads & spouting shit & just acting however they fuck they like. If you go on @myfrugalyear on instagram you can read the very human effect these influencers have on women especially, actually young women (think it was 18 - 25) are the highest growing demographic entering IVAs, I imagine a lot of that is driven by the aspirational lifestyle imagery that's constantly being pushed on them through Insta as the new norm with absolutely no mention to how they pay for it (aff link money, brand partnership money, 100% gifted, etc). There is an element of personal responsibility yes & we all have to use social media responsibly, but it's been a sort of boiled frogs deal it's only really now I think that people's eyes are starting to open to it all. I really dislike influencing and don't care if they're upset that people think they're trash for reselling gifted clothes because I know they're certainly not thinking about the women I know in tens of thousands of pounds worth of debt cos of products they've shilled for a few quid!

Regarding Callie specifically, I actually used to really like her as she was a normal girl in a generation of bloggers where it was all rich parents buying them hauls etc, she seemed more relatable. The constant mentions of Dan are annoying but having a shit family situation myself I know how overly into your partner you can be, I annoy myself doing the same thing. Obviously people grow up, circumstances change, and now she's just become an insufferable flogger of goods and it's sad but inevitable I suppose. I don't see how me saying that could possibly upset her because she must also know it to be true? She surely can't lack that much self awareness, like she used to be a receptionist so she knows that most people aren't buying specialist sprays and sponges just for veg, she's encouraging excessive/needless consumption in promoting that, like that shouldn't be a revelation to her that shatters her world...

My pancakes this morning came from Lidl and I put chocolate spread on them & they were fantastic. No massaging kale or fannying about with special garlic involved.

She’s so unbelievably smug. We get it. You like cooking. And you’re fairly decent at it. Half of these meals look fucking expensive to make and it seems like they’re mainly done for the ‘Gram. Also cannot abide influencers complaining that they only get pennies for sharing a link? It’s the fucking law that you do, if you don’t think it’s worth your while then don’t feature the fucking product?

It’s funny they have the clarity of mind to go and build an aff link & share it on a swipe up but forget to write #aff. It’s because they don’t want to, simple as.

Same with complaining about 100 messages a day... messages they don’t even have to reply to Imagine having to work in the real world where you get emailed, slacked, WhatsApped, called on your mobile & called on your desk phone, having people pop over or grab you cos you walked past their meeting room, all the while having to create actual output?

It makes me so cross to see her talking about taking a mortgage holiday after everything she has spent. I have taken one for the next three months as I am on maternity leave and my partner has been furloughed. That combined with moving house just before lockdown has mean we are literally struggling to pay the bills. It’s an absolute joke that she is sitting in her hot tub, using her brand new pizza oven and extortionate bike complaining about finances. I actually really liked Callie before Covid came about but it’s really shown what an entitled, privileged, spoilt brat she is.

I'm so sad a brand I've worked with has behaved like this.
I've spoken to them about the issue and how unhappy I am.
They have assured me they are working on things and making improvements.
These were isolated management issues at a select few stores and do not express the ideals of the company as a whole.

The classic ‘I only get a small percentage’. Yes but if you’re linking a high end item and say 100 people buy that item, those pennies soon add up. As well as people not realising any time they make a purchase from that website within 30 days, you will still get a cut of that

Also when us mere paupers use cashback sites to make purchases, guess what, we only get a small % too!

Honestly the entitlement is wild. They get wholly gifted / heavily subsidised items they then flog to people to buy with their PAYE earnings. They then complain they make what, 1-10% depending on retailer? Boo fucking hoo.

Also complaining you’ve only had one job in ten weeks. You’re self employed sis so that’s on you really Supermarkets were hiring weren’t they, you just had to turn up with your ID pretty much during the first few weeks of lockdown.

I actually came to this thread really liking her, but how she’s behaving during covid is shameful.

Honestly she’s driving me mad. If you don’t have the sense to save and prepare to be out of work, I’m sorry, but you deserve it. I have a mortgage on my own and I don’t live that far from her & today I’ve been told I’m having to take a 20% pay cut. Am I whining about it? No, I’ve reassessed finances and thankfully I’m going to be ok. I’m aware of how fortunate I am and truly sympathise with those that aren’t, which you know what? Is why I’m not moaning! Why I’m not blasting it all over social media! I also don’t understand people who have all these boujee milk alternatives like oat milk etc when they clearly don’t have a dairy intolerance (ie eat loads of cheese or other dairy products) and/or are clearly not trying to reduce their consumption of animal products.

What’s the fucking point, just have some cows milk and shut the fuck up!
