I don’t really get how people can argue the vaccine isn’t working when cases are so high and deaths so low. It’s bizarre. It’s clearly helping in keeping the death and hospitalisation rate lower despite large daily case figures…. I don’t get how that’s a difficult concept to grasp 😅

Do people actually find these stats and articles and reports helpful?
Ive not checked or read anything about covid for weeks now, I’m taking the constant “scientists say/experts say/it’s believed that/could we see/ etc etc etc” bull crap daily online.
looking back on it here, the sky news, BBC, RTE, WHO, SAGE, NPHET, speculation, fear mongering reports.
99.999999% of it means nothing. Probably never came through,
Even the daily figures mean nothing.

I saw yesterday’s cases in Ireland were something like 1500. But.
who cares, I don’t mean who cares 🙈🤣 I mean they’re just numbers, someone could say it’s 3000 or 30 tomorrow and what difference does it make.

even the deaths, 20 people dead, but as sad and tragic as that is were being told half a story. With every death.

it Just feels a bit pointless but I’m wondering if people do get value out of it.

I can’t sleep

My best friend is 29, double vaccinated in December, caught covid on Friday

She’s been admitted to hospital and I’m just thinking of the worst

OK, your opinion, I'm not going to argue, but can you please explain why so many doubles jabbed are in hospitals?
Because the majority of the country have been jabbed. It's like saying don't wear a seat belt because most people in car crashes are, when infact It's because if more people are doing something It's more likely to be that way.

Totally agree. Worked in a hospice for years and I would burn my own body alive before I’d believe that sensationalist bullshit. May he rest in peace.
It's absolute bollocks and anyone who believes it and doesn't see it for what it is (scaremongering bs) has truly lost the plot.

When did this turn into the anti vax/conspiracy thread?!?!
my post is simply a summary of the last 16/18/300 months of absolute fuckery, nothing I’ve said is a lie.

I dont view things so black and white, it’s not about being pro or anti anything,
i just fail to understand what exactly we’re all doing right now. 😐

My friend and colleague is 29, BMI probably 23, fit and well, doctor, double vaccinated, on a ventilator

It’s a slow wean in that she’s not been weaned at all

We don’t know what’s going to happen

Thank you, well put x

@AllSeeingEye123 I've worked throughout in school with around 1500 kids so very aware of how normal life needs to resume and I'm not scared to leave my house. 1 in 65 people currently have covid, that's way too high for my liking.

Just putting it out there that forum has massively changed from the early days. It feels far too insensitive and judgemental.

Edit tho say that I didn't 'presume my sil had covid with no proof'. Rather, I'm being cautious as a CLINICALLY VUNERABLE AND PREGNANT woman and IF she did catch the virus at the weekend, she may not show a positive on a lateral flow for 10 days, by which time it would be too late and I'd be exposed to it/her. Yes this may be me over thinking but let me live. Goodness me. How rude!!
I honestly can't believe the change in this thread either!!! I hardly post but have been an avid reader throughout this pandemic as I found it a lovely place for folk to air their views and ask for advice in a non judgemental environment?? What the hell happened?? I hope you are ok 😘 xx

But you do be to accept if you don’t take the vaccine your chances of dying fro Covid are higher. You have been given the option to try and prevent it and decided no to do it may have been the result of not taking the vaccine. You take that chance by not taking the vaccine.

I don't have to accept any of this BS and won't. You can, and that's your choice.

This is so surreal. It’s exactly like it was here in 2020. And it was then proven that people going to beach had zero impact on covid levels.

Please read the post I was replying to. It was not a standalone post. The poster was saying death was the result of being unvaccinated. I was trying to get them to see that the vaccinated are also dying.
The vaccine was never meant to 100% stop people catching it and stop people from dying. People really need to understand that the vaccine is working but there will still be deaths, but at a lesser rate than with no vaccine.

It's turned really quite nasty and dismissive, glad it's not just me that's noticed. Thanks v much.
Personally I think it's just flipped. Before it was nasty and dismissive towards people who were sceptical of the vaccine and now it's gone the other way toward people who are sceptical of restrictions ending. I think it's just a narrative shift other than anything else.

Whatever comes our way I think most people now rightfully will be taking their own personal choices and choosing whether to follow guidance (in terms of social mixing in one’s own home). I am another person who won’t be missing out on socialising as a lot of my friends really struggled and when we met again after I could tell the toll it had on them.

Not to mention people who have MH conditions or live alone/not with their partner have every right to see people/each other.

I will not buy into the fear messages the Government will spread about it. And anyone who actually calls the police on someone for seeing their friends and family in their own home needs to take a look in the mirror.

Your reply is really insensitive to the original poster as they clearly have their reasons for feeling the way they do. It is OKAY to feel anxious and nervous, it doesn’t mean they do not want to get back to some form of normality.

There are people who are not worrying about what might happen, but you will equally find people who will remained worried and cautious and that is OKAY. People will do what they deem is best for them and what they are comfortable with.
Thank you, well put x

A lot of people seem to be getting generally ill at the moment. I think it's an effect of opening up and other things spreading around. The other viruses want their turn too. The annoying thing is that any slight illness at the moment still causes panic, especially in offices.
