It looks like Ellen Smith is no longer with us. I get a user profile not available when clicking on hers. I wonder what happened? Lol
She never was with us..

Maybe her sister complained about her email address getting stolen and misused.

Jumping on the Baby J development comment train. My biggest concern is his environment. He is a really mellow baby, but as he starts becoming more aware he will learn by example. The way Jenn treats Tim, constant bickering, a mother who is selfish. Not to mention be treated as an afterthought by his parents. I hope those two clowns change and make BJ their top priority, but it doesn’t look like it for now. I think they love him as much as their able to, which again, not saying much. They are both so caught up in their own selves. This is my opinion, yes I do have some experience with selfish parents and I work with people with personality disorders

Y’all, not one of you has ever given your kid an iPad or phone to be calm during dinner lol okay FOH
im not going to bullshit you all here. My son watches/plays his iPad quite a bit and I tit you not...he’s 5 reading well above 3rd grade level. He’s not a genius but there’s nothing wrong with some screen time

and weve totally brought the iPad to the dinner table and our sanity is better for it

Indeed, I'm sure it's helpful at times (again, not my cup of tea) but I have to wonder how good all these small screens are for their young eyes.

I've read so many health reports about adults having worsening eyesight because our faces are now always in our phones and tablets, I could only imagine it's not great for the kiddos' eyes - or is setting them up for eye issues (hello, glasses!) in the future at a more rapid pace. ???

yeah I have worried about his eyesight but also his screen isn’t small either...it’s the 13 inch or whatever iPad but yeah I have worried about his eyes

but I am happy with the educational benefits I’ve witnessed. I will say, I HEAVILY monitor what he does or what he watches on the iPad...

"Ellen" is doing what she does best. Sticking her nose in Comments made on The Slackers videos.

I turn off their videos when they start saying "And now it's time to." I don't need to listen to them recite information directly off a charity website. I'll donate to the organizations I feel passionate about, not the ones they're trying to make their viewers feel guilty about not donating to.

Just wanted to mention, but am not fully versed in the benefits.

Optometrists /Ophthalmologists are recommending a special blue light coating on eyeglasses to block out the rays from screens.

Note: it could just be me, but no one here needs to defend their POV. Everyone is entitled to share their opinions and experiences. Which I respect and enjoy.

Especially since I am not convinced that they donate a penny to any charities.

Jenn has been so heavy handed with the deletion of comments. blocking of users and manipulation of what is shown to others, she really has made that her priority in life, far above editing, arguably above Jackson. Perhaps she needs to drop the I'm-an-editor act we all see through and just bill herself as a social media person. I know some people who made decent money doing just this for companies. Her problem is that she wants to wage war with everyone.

As to how to get Jenn to keep your comments? Comment on older videos, or if newer comment under other comments, and the best, post a sob story and finish it with a criticism. Still, she's so over the top these may get taken down too, but they're certainly worth a try.

I think this too. I know it's bad on my eyes spending alot of time looking at a screen, I always think of the little ones. I'm in my early 40s and often I think how thankful I am that I grew up in a time where we didnt have all these electronics. Not that they are all bad, but I was forced to find things to occupy myself. We played outside alot and used our imagination. We just live in different times now 🤷‍♀️

Tech is good, it helps us do more things faster and control information in better ways than before. But the tradeoff is that health risk to eyes, muscles and agility, all which can impact other physical aspects of health. This is why it's more important than ever to have an exercise plan that involves all muscle groups.

Walking through theme parks doesn't cut it, and in present day US most kids don't get together for biking, games of tag, hide and seek, kickball and stickball. Kids need to be involved in sports. Swimming, surfing, tennis, running or group sports such as soccer, football, basketball and even baseball. Will T&J permit Jackson to belong to any of the sports teams? Doubtful. Will they encourage individualized sports? Only if they don't disturb Jenn's routine. It will be all on Tim to make sure the boy stays healthy. The irony of having the least healthy looking to maintain the health of the child is not lost on us.

No there is nothing wrong with appropriate screen time. Kids are being brought up in a digital world and will need these skills. But they need other skills too. Handing a child an ipad as a distraction does not teach them how to entertain themselves. Handing them one at dinner because you can't be bothered with them does not teach them etiquette or social skills and we know that being distracted whilst eating teaches you to miss your bodies satiety queues etc. It's about balance, discipline and appropriateness.

I attended a seminar for work on the addictive nature of Internet porn on teens. Horrific. It wasn't the porn that was causing the addiction, it was the dopamine hits of the click feedback response... Ie clicking and getting something new every time. Same happens whatever the subject so leaving a kid clicking on a screen for a long time will probably have the same effect. Not to mention the quality of the content varies so much, some of it totally brain rotting. Ironically for Jackson, that will be his parents vlogs!!

There is a great movie on Netflix about this called the social dilemma.

I honestly try very hard not to judge anyone’s parenting/choices

HOWEVER, when you put your daily life on display like Dim and Dimmer...I can’t help but judge

they are bleeping up SO MANY THINGS. I’m not perfect when it comes to ANYTHING but damn I’m impressed with my parenting and life skills compared to these two douchewads

Ditto.
We all make mistakes, that's how we learn. Jenn doesn't want to learn from hers though, choosing instead to listen to the praise of the stan group who worship the ground the walk upon., most of whom are out of touch with reality or are straight up lying to them.

exactly!! And what I don’t understand is how it went so wrong so quickly?

they started out doing TONS of research and I actually thought they would be crazy obsessive parents who were constantly on top of Jackson’s development but alas it seems they care more about carbs than J

Agreed!
I really thought that they were going to be great parents. There was a video just a few years ago where Tim was at a place (Busch Gardens??) that had animals. It was really a good informative vlog. Anyways, Tim (whom I believe really enjoys science) was having a discussion with one of the handlers. The animation, knowledge and passion that Tim showed made me think he would be a good dad. Patiently teaching his child about animals.

It is possible that they over researched things too. It’s been an interesting journey with all the various baby items they’ve bought (and complained about) and feeding methods like baby weaning.

I don’t think they really considered how hard it is to raise and support a child. It takes a lot of work and the parent has to be selfless at times. Tim and Jenn don’t want to do this. They want their “fun” lifestyle. So Jackson gets dragged around and becomes like a tag along.

Ding ding dang you nailed it

their lifestyle...they aren’t willing to adjust their lifestyle to accommodate Jackson’s development

I bought some of THE DUMBEST tit for my son and ya know live and learn but the one thing my husband and I definitely did was change our lifestyle to nurture our sons development

once again we aren’t perfect parents but we try our best

Sooooo WAIT a few months ago...they couldn’t even eat lunch out because they had to RUSH home for Jackpots nap

Christmas Eve, they spend ALL DING DANG DAY out without a single care for Jackpot being strapped down all day

Yep, none of us is claiming to be perfect parents. We have all made purchases that later we question “why did I get that!”. We’ve also made parental mistakes.

But what we have done is pivot our lifestyles to accommodate and prioritize our child’s needs and development.
