Hi lovely!

So, the Platinum Jubilee cookbook has been sold out everywhere except for Hatchards Picadilly (the one right beside Fortnum & Mason). If it's sold out online, check the 3rd floor in the Interiors section or in the first floor. It's there but you will find really hard. It's still available online: https://www.hatchards.co.uk/book/the-platinum-jubilee-cookbook/ameer-kotecha/9780993354069

I already bought the book and if you need any screenshots, I am happy to post them. It's a mix of recipes from different consulate in the Commonwealth across the world and stories about British food and cutlery brands.

Hatchards also has plenty of Jubilee/royal themed fashion and jewelry books. If you are lucky, they might have author signed editions too. https://www.hatchards.co.uk/the-platinum-jubilee

Here is the link to all of the Platinum Pudding recipes: https://www.fortnumandmason.com/platinum-pudding-finalists

All the very best!
This is very kind! Thank you ❤
If you feel up to it I’d love to seescreenshots of vegetarian or fish based recipes :)

Love how the Queen just turned up in a flowery dress and a cardi. She's definitely well into her "can't be arsed with all this" phase. I don't blame her. Was Omid Djalili really the best they could do? That man should have the "Comedians you Don't Find Funny" thread named after him.

Surely they would run it past the Queen beforehand, no? She must know these people who are going to be putting on the show. I don't mind Omid, but not sure why they needed a comedian.

Why are the Daily Mail getting their knickers in a knot over the Liverpool fans booing God Save the Queen? I couldn’t give a toss about football, but I think it’s a dirge and always have done. I’ve never considered it my anthem and want to see it dropped when the Queen dies. I really hate this fawning deference we’re all expected to have towards the Royal family. It’s twee and embarrassing. The establishment are in for a real shock when the Queen dies as I think the respect people have for her
is for her alone and not for the wider family large. I won’t be at all surprised if there aren’t murmurings of republicanism.

I liked her in that outfit, it was a much more relaxed style than normal.

Dress looked pretty with all the beading but couldn't see much of it underneath the cardigan and shawl!

Why is the Kevin on the right in the first picture naked when all the rest are dressed??

The Royal family was here for centuries before the Queen and will be there for centuries after. Liverpool is just a socialist enclave, every MP in Liverpool elected in 2019 was Labour despite the Tory landslide UK wide. It does not represent the UK as a whole. There were of course murmurings of republicanism after Victoria died after a 63 year reign but Edward VIIth proved a better than expected King in his short reign. There have been good monarchs and less good monarchs but the monarchy has survived and reformed when needed.

In any case if anything Charles and William are showing themselves much more willing to reform the monarchy, to slim it down to the core working royals and open up more palaces to the public than the Queen has been

Popularity for the Royal family ebbs and flows!

At the moment it feels as if there are a lot of people who support the monarchy, especially the Queen. But in the past the monarchy in the UK and overseas has been a lot less popular. If you watch programmes like ''The Crown'' which is vaguely historically accurate! Charles was booed by the welsh at his investiture as Prince of Wales in 1969, because the Welsh didnt like the British or the Royal family.
I think comedy programmes like ' Till Death us do part,' were also pretty anti monarchy.

It will be interesting to see what happens after Elizabeth dies. We do currently live in Downton times, where the rich and the monarchy are generally feted and supported, especially in the media, and in film and on TV.
I just dont know how well this translates into how real people actually think?

I am not seeing a lot of enthusiasm locally for this platnum jubilee! Im not sure how to pronounce it, on the jubilee pudding programme, the Duchess of Cornwall definitely pronounced it as plat num.....with no i!

Indeed and if the monarchy could survive King George IVth or King Edward VIIIth or King Charles Ist and King James IInd, far worse monarchs than King Charles IIIrd could ever be, it will survive once the Queen passes on.

In the 1990s the tabloid press, especially the Murdoch press were pretty hostile to the monarchy we forget, even the Queen after Diana died

I think they say their prayers every night for Harry and Meghan on that front! The press have their go to villains, so no matter what the Royals do, it is always lumped together with the Sussexes or it turns out to be their fault. They have their heroes and villains. Even Andrew consorting with Epstein and Maxwell and paying off victims of sex offendersis ' Harry, Meghan and Andrew are just as bad' even though all they have done is slag off their own family!.
