Any moms have any courses or books they recommend for like labour anxiety. Having a c section is my worse fear, just with recovery and pain and everything, baby is breech so it’s happening. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated
I had a planned c section on 7-7 due to breech position in the Netherlands & it was an amazing experience.
The days before were calm albeit a bit surreal knowing when she’d come, and the day of was very relaxed.
The actual operation was also extremely relaxed & calm. I was pretty terrified of the spinal block but that was hardly bad at all.
There were 8-10 people in the room with us and they talked to us the whole time. Took about 10-15 minutes to get her out and then she was put on my chest for breastfeeding. Then another 30 or so to close me up. All the while she was with me.
I felt no pain but did feel some light pressure and pulling. I could feel they were stitching me up but it was as if it was a far away feeling, again just some light pulling and pressure. I never once felt any pain.
Our baby was with us the whole time except for when they were cleaning her off and doing some of the immediate checks, like weight, but she was still always in the room with us.
We were also able to see her immediately after they pulled her out and that was such a magical moment. They pulled down the screen so we could look through a plastic screen to see her immediately.
We are planning on just one kid so vaginal was my preference but since she was so breech for the whole pregnancy we had to have a section. I don’t regret the choice for a second, though I think that’s down to the fact that it was planned rather than emergency.
I didn’t watch any videos beforehand since I knew that would freak me out, and I read a lot about what to expect.
