Someone I have a degree of respect for has tweeted this on to my timeline. This made me very cross but nowhere near the level of rage and incredulity I felt when I saw this particular response. Is it a piss take? Are one of you being naughty? It's the worst tweet I've ever seen.

What annoys me about the begging bowl is that the Squigs seem blissfully unaware of how fortunate Jack is and how much she pays in rent . She does not need to live in that massive property.
it’s why I don’t follow this thread much (or her) as she just irritates me.
100% this! She pays in rent probably triple what most of her followers pay but nobody knows this. They assume she lives in a deprived area, rather than being surrounded by swimming pools. They assume she has battered shoes and a cold little house because that's what she wants them to see. That's the real reason why she has to pretend she got tit in puddles or a friend gifted her some curtains, because she doesn't want to be found out for the greedy wasteful spendthrift she is.

She goes balls to the wall on these allegedly thrifty hacks but often this is where she gets her arse handed to her because she has no idea what those with less actually do to survive. She veers between tumble drier fluff and £100 on spoons because she's desperately trying to control her 'poor girl' narrative.

Costs the flour, but not the fuel, and if you are living in a shared house, maybe one like the DEAD grandad used to own, where the duck are you meant to store your barely used flour, garlic bulbs, and whatever else went into the recipe.

Although I think a good proportion of her followers are well meaning poshos

The believe that Asda stopped selling smartprice food and Jack got in reinstated because they never bought it, so never noticed if it was there or not.

And probably they don't shop at Asda anyway.

WTF no she doesn't. Where are you going to get curry powder for 8p? You have to have all those ingredients in your cupboard, to start with.

Doesn’t she realise she’s being asked to support a campaign that promotes children's health, and not Jamie Oliver himself?
Sorry, I know things have moved on since yesterday but this is still bothering me.
But this absolutely uncovers her attitude to campaigning and good causes. It has to be all about the campaigner. Hence her centring herself in anything to do with poverty.
Also explains her attitude towards JO as she is incapable of assuming people can actually be genuinely altruistic, and assumes he has his head in the trough like her.

One of the things that didn’t make it into the final cut of my transcript from yesterday (and in retrospect probably should have done) was her saying that if ‘it all went away’ as in her success, she’d be perfectly happy working on the tills at Tesco. It was one of those things she initially said in a slightly dismissive way, then modified it with how there was nothing wrong with working on a check out.

Doing the transcript actually made me notice quite a few linguistic moments like that. One I left in was her talking about having lunch at her single mums Sure Start group, she used the phrase ‘enforced socialisation’ to describe what I assume was the portion of the group time which wasn’t spent eating (or stuffing left overs into Tupperware). I found that interesting, she didn’t want to spend time with the others, she was forced into it if she wanted food. I’m going to hazard a guess she basically saw herself as better than the others, she was a maverick middle class grammar school girl down on her luck, not one of your regular poors.

Another thing was her use of the word puppyish to describe herself, she used it at least three times. I know this isn’t new information but it tells us so much about how she sees herself and how she wants to be perceived. Puppies can never be blamed for anything they do wrong, they do everything with 100% energy and commitment but because they’re going full pelt they can make unintended mistakes, and these mistakes must always be instantly forgiven because they’re small, young and adorable and know no better. That’s how Jack wants the world to treat her.

Easy enough to check insulation, those who know the address can look up the EPC which is a requirement for renting...I think it's been one since she's been in that place. Or is that getting too stalkery?

When I was house hunting I got very good at finding out all sorts about houses for sale!!
Resident property Frau here!

All properties have to be graded E or above to legally Let them out.

An E grading or above would be required on renewal even if it was below that level on original signing.

A house without loft insulation would not make an E grading.

So, it would appear, she's lying.

Wasn't Jack going to 'strongly reccommend' ubi, when she was sitting on some Tory committee?

Although I think most of the schemes of us have only been partially successful, in that the recipients are happier, but it doesn’t increase engagement, eg gaining employment..

The cynic in me wonders if Jack doesn't push for any real social change because if it actually happened she'd be out of a 'job'.

She couldn't be the Saviour of The Poors if the government actually helped the least well off in society and everyone had enough to live well on.
