As far as Abbie's squeeze stim, I know this has been discussed on here before but I think it may be similar to what Temple Grandin created when she was doing her research on cattle. I look at Abbie doing that stim and I see her trying to apply pressure to her body. I see it as a calming activity. She does it very often when she is laying on the couch. I have never thought it was something other than some sort of stim to calm herself. Maybe she plopped herself down on the ground at the fish store due to being over stimulated. Who knows because the asshole's narrative more than likely never aligns with what is really going on on any given vlog. Someone else mentioned the sound of the running water was something she enjoyed hearing and she decided to add to it by doing that stim. Who really knows what is going through that childs mind but hey, she does know how to wave hi and bye :sneaky:
I agree. From what I've read, I think it has more to to with helping to regulate her sensory input so that she feels calmer and more grounded. Kind of the same idea as using weighted blankets, weighted vests or, if you want to go back really far, why most babies feel more at ease and comforted in a tight swaddle.
I see it like you that she is trying to calm herself, and to feel grounded. I feel like it's a response to being in a stressful situation, too much sensory stimulation/sensory input going on, feeling overwhelmed or anxious.

Doesn't she do the squeezing STIM at home as well? Asshat has filmed her doing it alone on the couch.. and out by the pool...etc.

He gots his birth person's altered pointy chin too!!
He also has inherited mommy’s tusks. He either has been gifted her:
A) Insatiable sweet tooth
B) Dental hygiene habits
C) Week tusk genetics
D) All of the above

I spy, with my kitty kitty eye a possible cavity.

Yes, she does. She can still be stressed out and overwhelmed at home, too. She can still be trying to regulate her feelings and sensory input to feel calmer and combat that fight or flight response, anywhere really. Maybe she's stressed out because Asshat and P have been up in her face too much, maybe she hasn't been allowed to do or to have the things she wants at the moment she wants them.

Perhaps our autism parents here can elaborate further and share your experiences.

She looks crazy! Her inside ugly is exaggerating her outside ugly. 😼
Abbie does the squeezing stim at home. She has for as long as I have tuned in. 3-4 yrs.

....in the home where there are barking dogs, a constant camera in her face, her drunk mother weeewwwww-heeeeewwwwing and squealing into her phone, her overbearing father either directing her every move or ignoring her, with no other options for sensory input than scraps of paper or empty plastic bags?

Yeah.
She's going to do whatever she can to ground herself in that overwhelming environment.

Someone here correlated Abbie's deep pressure stim with the inappropriate video the Wees posted then deleted, and now people are repeating it as a known fact for some reason.

It's not what she's doing.
She's seeking deep pressure, which is probably one of the most common sensory needs for autistic people, and that's literally the only way she can get her needs met on a regular basis. She doesn't have any sort of weighted blankets or lap pads or body socks or even a small dark space she can curl up in by herself. Her parents refuse to provide anything for her sensory needs so she comforts herself by twisting & tensing up.

Perhaps our autism parents here can elaborate further and share your experiences.
We keep trying, but unfortunately it often falls on deaf ears.

Completely agree. It is a more sensory regulation and deep pressure squeeze..
I literally hate though that they do not give her a pillow (king size or body pillow), to be able to help this. She doesn’t have to use her whole body to do a squeeze like this.
I will say, out of my 4 kiddos, 2 live deep pressure like this. I never thought about it until recently, as they usually do it in their bedrooms with their pillows, as we have given those two kids pillows and their therapists showed them how to get that deep pressure squeeze with those items.
Then, going back through the last few weeks of pictures, this is my oldest that just turned 18 years old, big Easter gift (as she loves stuffed animals and bunnies).. I realized she was needing that deep pressure sensory regulation, while we were finishing up Easter gifts..

Personally, I am not doctor, specialists, therapists, counselor.. I am a Mom doing the best that I can for my kids. I literally don’t care if my daughter wants plush bunnies when she is 40. I don’t care if I am buying chewes at 30. I give them what they show interest in and what our therapists say is the best for them.
I don’t have all the medical terminology to back what I say. I just go by what gives my kids their best lives and we see works…

Also, please ignore the huge bruise on her hand. She has been in and out of the hospital for medical issues lately and has IV bruising. She just had a seizure last week and I am in and out of doctor’s appts, while also getting her ready for Senior finals this week.

I think it's worth saying even if it does fall on some deaf ears. I'm glad that you share your knowledge and experience with us. Thank you.

Asshat talks a lot of tit about doing things for Abbie or because of Abbie etc. But the phrase actions speak louder than words is so on the mark with him. He figures that if he simply says all of the right things, then that's as good as doing them. Which it isn't.

A&P do a really piss poor job of taking care of Abbie's needs and helping her by regularly giving her coping methods or coping objects. They'd rather stuff her full of dunkin, stick her on the couch to rock and listen to music and that's it. Maybe if they did, she wouldn't always feel the need to drop to the ground and do her squeezing stim. She would have better tools and support to deal with how she's feeling.
As I posted before, Asshat and P (it's to be expected from P, tho) don't work to meet Abbie's sensory needs on a daily basis and wait until things boil over before taking action. I think they've also done very little to teach Abbie how to regulate herself. Even an 18 - 24 month old child can be taught simple self regulation coping strategies.

With what you described, I can't imagine many people who would NOT find it stressful living in an environment like that. It's compounded when you have sensory input issues, problems with self-regulation etc.

So, Abbie resorts to doing something that works for her the most.

"Someone here correlated Abbie's deep pressure stim with the inappropriate video the Wees posted then deleted, and now people are repeating it as a known fact for some reason."

I agree. This correlation was made and it is being treated as factual with no real evidence or proof.
As bready said, we actually DON'T know that that is what Abbie's doing and I'd say there's more evidence to indicate it is not what she's doing.

Oh yes, home can be stressful for my son too. Even though we basically live by routine, there are some instances when life just happens. Like when the hubby decides he wants something else for dinner and we have to shift gears and possibly get new ingredients. Our son gets very anxious and stressed out at even the most ordinary things, like if we are shopping and the cashier has to call for a price check or something. That extra wait time can send him into a panic. Or if our oldest son stops by for a visit unexpectedly, it can throw him for a loop. Our kiddo would be highly stressed in that house because they have so many people coming and going, no real routine, and they pick up and go at the drop of a hat. I was extremely hesitant (and anxious myself) when hubby had his heart attack in January and suddenly our house was filled with various family members almost overnight. I had no idea how our son would react at his whole world being turned upside down. He handled it very well for the duration they were here with us, but kind of fell apart for a couple of days after everyone was gone. Not to mention, my boy doesn't care to be on camera. He's not too thrilled even when I take short clips on my phone of him using his AAC, so an entire huge ass camera fixed on him all the time would stress him out too.

Isaiah’s vlog was a lot of Talking in circles and saying nothing specific. Talked about how crazy his year has been in the house with his roommates. Yet doesn’t explain why it was crazy. They’re all acting so sad, calling it an end of an era, everyone moving out. He’s acting like he’s not going back there. He keeps saying end of an era. You live there one year and that’s all? They bought him a house instead of renting an apartment like a normal college kid would do. Of course they have to be extra, even though it makes zero financial sense and now, what will they do? Rent it? Sell it? I know I’m gonna be keeping my eye on that He really made it sound like none of them would be back living together. Davis and Taj both seemed stoned.

Isaiah said he “passed all his classes” and then said “I think I did really well.” If you know you passed all your classes, you know your grades. You either did really well or you didn’t. I’m thinking his first statement, that he passed, is the truth. I don’t think he will be returning to Boone.

Same here. I have a whole cabinet filled with bungee bands, paper he can shred, magazines he can do whatever with, etc. He has a big inflatable ball pit in his room too. His fave thing to do to decompress though is to wrap himself up like a burrito in our comforter and just lay on the bed.

Would you two say that most Autistic individuals squeeze for the same reasons? Or are there different reasons for that stim? Really all stims? Do all Autists respond in the same manner for the same reasons?
I think you both are doing a fantastic job. Your willingness and earnest ability to express your challenges and successes as well as answer questions for those of us not in your situation is remarkable. Much respect! 🫶❤🫶🏼

For my two that do need that deep pressure sensory, yes, it is done for the exact same reason. They are needing that regulation and deep sensory need. It is squeezing and sometimes you just cannot squeeze them tight enough or hard enough. Sometimes there is a definite need, as things are overwhelming, things are out of sequence but other times, there isn’t a reason or known reason (it could be just something we overlooked)..
I never have issues answering questions. I just don’t always put things into correct vocabulary because at the end of the day, I have never been one to use it. I always have done a “go with what the child needs,” more than anything else…
