I noticed that too! Her focus on luxury goods seems to be a direct response to all the stuff that's happened in her personal life (moving a ton, getting dumped and kicked out, not getting a real lawyer job). We know her first few apartments in Vancouver were furnished with used furniture and Walmart home decor, but as she's gotten older it seems like she is stockpiling things because they can't leave her like Chris, Joe, Special Someone or Papa Rick.

I do think there is a part of her that is just a good old-fashioned snob and loves that all the Karens will comment on how they are jealous of her luxury candles, fancy appliances, and luxury bags/shoes. I personally find nothing aspirational about spending $100 on a candle but not spending $20 to get your cat an actual cat bed or scratching post. But to each their own!

I hate to say this but after seeing these comments MUALover made, I decide to not come back to this thread again.

As a young (by Elle's standard) Asian woman who works hard and enjoys fashion&luxury, this is no longer a respectful, safe, light-hearted gossip forum for me. I'm disturbed by these over-generalizing comments and can't get over the fact that I might encounter these judgements again here.

I don't hate Elle enough to put myself through this.
Please don’t feel pressured to leave because of a few unintelligent, uninformed comments from one emotionally unintelligent thread participant. You can report the comment to give MUALover to show that we don’t tolerate interoperable. ✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿

OK so Elle has no assistant. Still how is she affording the rent payment? I wonder how much it is per month.

Elle is all about appearances. Who cares about being a real success or a real girlboss when all you have to do is look like one? Who cares if you're financially stable when you have outdated 2nd hand Chanel bags?

Yes but document review and other jobs - the pay is not good and the hours are crap. I doubt Elle would be up to it. She couldn't even last in her cushy MDFA job that she was crazy to give up.
I’m only half-joking but maybe she’s in bed with the boss 😂

Your analysis would make sense for any other person, but Elle's family was pretty affluent. If you check out her early vids, she talks about all the trinkets she received as a child. People really should watch the earliest vids to get a sense of how good she's had it and much she was spoilt growing up...
Are you talking about her Tiffany's jewelry collection? Yeah she does have a lot of Tiffany's (mostly silver) jewelry.

Smh. She bought Joe a briefcase from the coach outlet that wasn't even $120. But look at what she spends for herself and she won't even be using these. You don't work and you can't go anywhere. This is why you have so many threads Eleanore Lecocq.
her selfishness knows no bounds

What prettiest years? She was pretty at some point? 🤣

All jokes aside, this is why people should take care of their skin when they’re young, and not rely on heavy make up and cosmetic procedures to improve their looks temporarily. All the work she’s had done, the years of super heavy makeup, and overdose of exfoliants and acids (she uses that super strong Sunday Riley Good Genes and First Aid Beauty exfoliant pads way too much and doesn’t apply sunscreen...a big faux pas!) has taken its toll on her.

I do think her being generally unsatisfied with her life is contributing to her mean, hard faced look as well. When people are happy and kind, it shows on their face and it’s the opposite for Eleanor Florence.
Yes, this reminds me of the Twits quote.

Thank you for much for your recommendations so far! I think I actually like citrusy and white floral notes but rarely wear those these days because it's so cold out. I have a travel size Eau Rose from Diptyque and really like that (I don't usually like rose scents) but was also looking at two Byredo rose scents (rose of no man's land & rose noir)...do you own any of those? Which are your favorite Diptyque scents?

Unfortunately, we can't really go out and sample perfume these days so I will either have to find a decant/travel size somewhere, or blind buy. Which Guerlain and Maison Francis Kurkdijan scents would you recommend?
Niche houses often offer sample sets and give you a discount if you buy a full bottle after purchasing a sample set. I know Sylvaine Delacourte does that. She used to be a perfumer at Guerlain and I bought one of her sample sets recently.

I own Eau des Sens, Eau Rose, Eau Moheli, L'eau de Neroli by Diptyque. I think Eau Moheli is my favorite. If I lived in a warmer climate, I'd definitely wear Eau des Sens a lot more. I'm considering getting Eau Duelle, a smoky vanilla scent. My mom loves L'Ombre dans L'eau.

The only Byredo fragrance I ever had was A Rose of No Man's Land. It was great but I found it a bit too sharp so I sold it on eBay.

I enjoy Amyris Femme from MFK but the only bottle I own from the house is Baccarat Rouge edp. It's a big compliment getter and lasts forever.

As for Guerlain, I particularly love Shalimar Souffle Intense, Orange Soleia (released this summer), Lys Soleia, Limon Verde and Elixir Charnel French Kiss.

Another noteworthy house is Éditions de Parfums Frédéric Malle. My big loves are Lipstick Rose and Iris Poudre. I'd recommend Portrait of a Lady if you like dark rose & spices combo and Le Parfum de Thérèse if you're not scared of a vintage vibe.

If you like citrus notes, try:

Limon Verde by Guerlain
Chance Eau Fraîche by Chanel
N°5 L'EAU by chanel
Alien eau de toilette by Mugler
Le jardin de Monsieur Li by Hermes
Orange mauresque by Chopard
Biarritz by Chanel
Electric by Agent Provocateur
Come together cologne by Mugler

Her bringing inappropriate food for hikes hasn't changed. She made tuna sandwiches for their hike, who does that???

She's definitely a lot more likeable here but stuff like how she says pistachios and how she describes food still drives me nuts (I feel really petty complaining about it but it just makes me angry)
only worse would be egg sandwiches

Wait.

So are white (fewer college grad) people voting for Biden?
So this graphic is based on I believe Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina and yes, it seems to suggest that older whites and white (fewer college grads) are voting more Dem during this election (relative to 2016), which I thought was somewhat surprising.

It also means more minorities, majority college grads, the wealthy, and urban areas are voting Trump though, which I don't think any of us saw coming.

Matryoshka is a Russian word for the matriarch doll. I'm glad Smelle is channeling her Russian heritage, I'm sure we'll hear more about it soon! 'I like fur coats, my ancestors in Siberia wore them a lot'
Thank you for the explanation. I wonder how many cultures she has inherited.

Hi all, new here. I had to join to ask if I am the only one who is excited for her vlogmas this year? It's the only thing I really love to hate watch, and I'm trying to rewatch some previous years, but it sadly seems as though she has taken the majority of them down :( Sad day
Welcome! Her Joe era vlogmas content was my favorite as well.

If I recall correctly, didn’t she mention in a recent video that she will not be doing daily vlogmas videos this year?

Gosh, you think she would be more sensitive to the pumpkins, after all she's been picked up and then put back in the patch enough times herself. She's still there, in fact.

She always looked dramatically different with no makeup (which is why she wears it, of course, regardless of wether the setting is appropriate for heavy makeup) but if you compare her makeup-less face here to one from the Joe era . . . the last 3 years really have aged her 10. I don't say 'Poor Elle' often, but I will say it here, she must be miserable.
I don't feel that living in Seattle, buying handbags, makeup, more furniture would make her more happy. What she needs is have some introspection and therapy, get another job, and have a healthy relationship with men and money and pursue some worthwhile goals even if not law related such as growing her jewelry business.

I think having Ginette to fall back on spoilt Elle beyond measure. Anyone else would have picked up their lives, sent out resumes and taken any job. I know STEM majors who graduated and picked any job (even jobs that were beneath them) for $45,000 and did it for years - before they moved on to six figure jobs in Fortune 500 companies - you work your way up and move accordingly.

I’m sorry but if someone has a law degree but never practices as a lawyer (or hasn’t for a very long time), telling everyone about their “life as a lawyer” or “my day to day as a law professional”, which is exactly what Eleanor was doing...then they are absolutely being fraudulent and misrepresenting the facts.
Yes, I agree with that. But she is a lawyer, she has a law degree and has been admitted to the bar - she's lying about "practising as a lawyer". Those are two different things.

Big disagree to Seri's post.

If someone has a medical degree and is licensed to practice medicine but works as an accountant they are not a doctor. They're an accountant.
No. If someone has a medical degree and is licensed to practice medicine and is working as an accountant, she is a doctor AND an accountant. She's just not practising as a doctor.

On Elle, yes, we are annoyed at her, but we can't diminish her achievement just because she's insufferable. These are facts. She finished law, she's been admitted to the bar, she's a licensed non-practising lawyer.

My family had a set from a friend and she called them "Babushka" dolls, as in Grandmother. Or simply 'Russian Nesting Dolls'. Elle *could* make it easy on herself AND say what people will understand.
Now I have the Kate Bush song stuck in my head haha!!

@actuallawyer is right - I think the socialist/Fidel approach "frightened" the Cuban/Cuban-American population into voting for #45. And to be honest, its my understanding that many Latinos (particularly older Latinos) lean more conservative anyways. As for why other POC have voted for #45, that's a bit more puzzling. There are some Black men who voted for #45 because they like he's so-called "alpha energy" and non-POC approach to politics (their words, not mine), there are some Black men who voted for #45 because they benefit from his tax plan (i.e., 50 Cent and Lil Wayne), etc., etc.

I do feel like sometimes the word "woke" gets weaponized to shame people for their political choices, but for people in my community who chose to vote for a man that has called them "sons of bitches," "to go back to where they come from," who has unleashed military force at protests seeking change for the killing of people who look like them (I could go on and on), I do feel ashamed. This isn't an election about policies, it's an election to get peace back. We're all tired.

And don't get me started on how BOTH parties have taken advantage of the incredibly powerful voting bloc that is Black women, but that's a conversation for another day. ;)
👏👏👏

Dems have definitely taken the black vote in general for granted. Biden going "If you don't vote for me, you ain't black" is NOT a sufficient enough reason for the Black community to vote for him. He needs to talk policy, and emphasize why he's the right choice.

I disagree. I work for a non-profit and it is quite challenging to work for one. We have to meet our targets to ensure continued funding, constantly have to fight cuts or find efficiencies when cuts inevitably happen, don't have the luxury of assistants, deal with some of the most challenging clients that we don't have the option of letting go, and on top of working on cases, we have to engage in law reform and public education. Rarely do we work 9-5... Not even our paralegals have that luxury. The only reason Elle was able to work those cushy hours was because she was in a non-lawyer role. I hate that she is giving this lazy impression of the legal profession.
That definitely sounds challenging. I just think that if an organization has guaranteed revenues no matter what (which isn't your org's case) there will be less pressure in general.

I was looking for an actual “young professional” woman who has youtube channel/does vlogs... and came across Miki Rai. She also lives in Seattle. Shs’s a nurse & it looks like her bf is a doctor. Does anyone else know her?
Yes! She's young, early 20s She has a big Tiktok following too I think. Her bf is a surgical resident! Just started. Now that's a young professional. :p
