Sainsburys have reinstalled screens at tills, and put signs up everywhere instructing people to keep a safe distance from others and telling people to wear masks! So basically the opposite of learning to live with it that’s me shopping else where!
So what? Surely you stay away from other people anyway? Thought respecting personal space was basic manners tbh.

If you don't want to wear a mask, don't.

I've been negative throughout and got it last week. This varient is more transmissible.
It does seem that way, doesn’t it? The only reason I haven’t had it is probably because I’m autistic and don’t enjoy socialising very much.

One of the few good things that has come out of this pandemic is people not getting in my space in shops. I hate it.

I think some businesses will choose to keep masks to protect staff as well as everyone else. With Omicron being so transmissible, the last thing they’d want is members of staff catching it and being off work as that will cause disruption.
My friend said that she enjoys wearing masks because it has stopped her from picking up general viruses and she hasn’t had to take any time off work.

Totally agree. I don't think reminding people to keep their distance and having things up like screens in between tills etc is a bad thing. Someone was following me around Tesco last week practically breathing down my neck. Every time I stopped to look at something they stopped right behind me. Just give me spaaaace!

I think many would say the same. I personally don’t find it a bother wearing one and I disagree with Boris dropping this restriction next week, it is far too soon. I suspect some places may still ask people to continue wearing them to protect staff as well as public.

Isn't that a negative though? Because it means she will be more unlikely to pick up a general cold or virus (non-covid) which can strengthen the immune system. Isn't it beneficial to pick up some viruses and colds?

Not coming into contact with germs etc does not weaken your immune system. As adults we’ve already been exposed to plenty for our immune system to respond to whatever it is - bacterial or viral. Obviously different for babies/young children who have not been exposed but eventually do.

No, thats not how your immune system works.

A virologist on BBC speaking about Plan B measures being dropped and he thinks it is too soon. A very valid point he made was that Plan B were brought in in December when cases/hospitalisations were half of what they are now….purely a political move rather than based on numbers.

Hasn't that always been the case  you can't seriously believe the gov have had our best interests at heart ,they've always looked at workable solutions.

Some customers are awful, I can’t blame them for having screens up and wanting a bit distance

I was gonna say the same!

I didn't want strangers right up in my personal space while I was browsing the aisles in Sainsbury's before the pandemic. Even if covid disappears entirely my position remains the same. 😂

Yeah, I get that coughs and colds are hard to avoid, but I'd still rather avoid them if I can.

I used to get at least two really bad colds each winter. The proper kind where both nostrils are fully blocked and I could literally keep blowing my nose and fill 4 or 5 tissues easily. (Sorry for the mental image haha.) Added to that, waking up with a sore/dry throat in the morning after breathing through my mouth all night and generally feeling like crap.

I know I'll get another one eventually, but not having that the past couple of years has been good. I'll keep wearing my masks for the time being, at least until numbers (particularly in my area) come down quite a bit more.

Anyone else feel like they are immune? I’ve been a close contact a few times and felt rubbish myself but have never tested positive. Woke up an hour ago feeling tight on my chest and tested negative 🤷🏻‍♀️
Honestly I think this all the time.....I have had some very close contacts......I work in a school and we have stacks of cases at the minute....one girl was really upset coz she felt so poorly (she hadn't been tested at this point) and I hugged her.....she tested positive that day.....my nephew tested positive last week and 4 days later my sister did.....I came home from work today and felt a bit iffy.....just really tired and sore throat.....but I am negative.....not that I want it I just can't understand why I haven't succumbed to it yet.....all of my children have had it....my poor daughter has had it 3 times....my older son twice and my teenager once 🤷‍♀️

We have screens up at my place of work hate them wish they would remove them.... I have had quite a few customers pull down their masks to lick their fingers to sort out their cash to then hand me, so they wear their masks as not to pass on or catch covid.... Yet are quite happy to pass their damp wet notes for me to handle 😏😂

My mum works in a supermarket and I'm pretty sure refusing cash someone has counted with a licked finger is her new favourite hobby. She loves telling me how she "had another one today" and how "I told him yada yada..."

In December they had to take precautions because it was a new variant. Now they know that even though it is more transmissible it is less deadly.

Political or not it is right these restrictions are lifted so we can get on with our lives.
