Be your own advocates. The NHS is over stretched and they will push you away if they don’t think it’s serious. You know your own body and your own symptoms. Push to find out what’s wrong, and don’t stop
Until you get answers.
mum sorry you guys have such a raw deal of it. Ask to see a consultant/specialist. If things they advise don’t help just keep pushing.
absolutely! I had years of me conceding ‘ok I’ll try that’ and being incorrectly diagnosed with IBS and then anxiety and a non existent stomach ulcer and then the vague ‘stomach migraine’ and then given
pain that didn’t work instead of just actually seeing a different GP and demanding a referral to a gynaecologist. Don’t be like me
It took a decade before I even had an ultrasound and now I’m finally referred because I brushed up on my research, called them out on incorrect info (GPs do not know everything and a good GP admits that) and if they try to fob me off I say ‘ok, please can you note the conversation we’ve had on my records?’ - and that usually gets me what I need!
I notice Zanna says she’s going to be sharing more of her journey
but as has been already said by others, if her journey is just paying to see private specialists that are top of their field, that’s not particularly helpful to the vast majority of people. Like yeah, lots of us would access a lot of treatment within the next few months if we could just throw money at things, but we can’t so it’s about managing it in the meantime and advocating for yourself when you don’t have what seems like unlimited disposable income!
