I had a digital scan with smile direct club- they couldn’t actually treat the area I wanted sorted. Glad I didn’t go with them as read some pretty horrific online reviews after
The one I was looking at is DW they seem to get good reviews on trust pilot 🙏🏼

I had my teeth straightened - took over a year with fixed braces through a private dentist. Had a crown fitted and a tooth removed also. Cost £5k.
My teeth were really bad according to the dentist. No past dentist would attempt the work before this.
£500 of the cost was for teeth whitening which I struggled with so if I had to do it again I wouldn't have bothered with that.
That sounds strange to me. Surely no orthodontic issue is too bad to be fixed?

Maybe the private sector is different and up to a certain point they need to refer back to the NHS?

My teeth were fixed as a kid thankfully. I had a misplaced canine that looked like a fang, and a twisted incisor next to it. I had braces almost all the way through secondary school. All worth it though.

And, luckily for me, my wisdom teeth never came in so they haven’t moved.

how long do your nails usually last? I’ve been eyeing up the mylee kit for a while
if i do them properly, don't put them through the ringer or attack via. potato peeler then two to three weeks! even then i could probs just infill the growth but i like changing up the colour too much. repaired two broken nails a few days ago with the curable glue too

They can still come in up the age of 90 (rare) 😳

lalso really enjoyed doing my own gel nails after getting a mylee kit last year. definitely a learning curve but again makes me a lot more confident about my stubby hands and my nails are so much longer/stronger and protected. this years addition will hopefully be an electric nail file to help take the gel off!
Gave myself a rotten allergy doing this and can never get my nails done again as even allergic to salon brands now...Mylee is a brand notorious for causing the allergy x

Was that Phillips Zoom? Was it the trays or the teeth sensitivity you struggled with?
Don't remember having trays, it was a fixed brace, then later he put wires in, then rubber bands at night as well. Literally wrenched my teeth into a totally different position. At one point thought I'd never be able to eat properly again as my bite was totally changed (this is why all the other dentists refused to do it), but my private dentist was super confident and now that the trauma to my mouth has settled down my bite is fine.
I have to wear a removable retainer at night - if I don't my teeth immediately start moving back.
I think the whitening treatment was called Boutique.
ETA I have sensitive teeth so the whitening made my teeth and gums kick off and I felt like I was swallowing bleach all night. The result was really uneven as you had to do it yourself every night and I'm no expert.

I was NHS before this and was with my last NHS dentist for years and he eventually went private. It seems that I could have lost my teeth cos of what he did. I overheard my current private dentist saying he couldn't believe what had been done to my teeth. But to me he didn't say anything bad about my old dentist.
Reading between the lines I would say my old dentist wasn't specialized enough so should have referred me to a specialist.
You can imagine how suspicious I was when my new dentist bought the practice and started saying I needed a lot of expensive work doing. I had become so resigned to my teeth that I didn't see how bad they had got.
Thank goodness he didn't let up badgering me as I would have lost my teeth.

Lookfantastic have a good deal on the Bobbi Brown vitamin primer at the mo...basically 2 for 1...trying to convince myself that I should save my money and get the Primark version. 🙃 Has anyone tried the dupe?
I’ve used the primark and Aldi dupes…they are nice but more watery, have a look on QVC I got a massive tub, bronzer, lippie and pallet for 60 quid in their TSV offer, and I paid in 3 so it’s practically free 😂😂

I can confirm that the NHS can do orthodontics for adults if the need is bad enough. I was referred in my 40s for jaw surgery because of my overbite- but the surgeon couldn’t do it because some of my teeth would have fallen out.

Look out as well for dodgy private dentists/ orthodontists. One charged me 3k to straighten my top teeth and stop them sloping- the last time I went in for a check up she suddenly told me the treatment was done and got me a retainer. Turns out she quit due to malpractice claims, and another orthodontist said she was well known for it.

Eeek. I thought the problem chemical was HEMA? Mylee are now HEMA free.

We had a consultation with a private orthodontist for my teenager to see if she needed braces recently. What we found out is that you can get braces at any point in life however afterwards you have to wear retainers at night for the rest of your life as teeth have tendency to move. The orthodontist said that there is a sliding scale of teeth issues and he is able to refer a patient for free NHS treatment if the issues are considered more than simply cosmetic. In fact one of my daughter’s friends just got her braces on the NHS for that reason. The orthodontist went into great detail about invasiline braces and explained you have to wear them for at least 20hrs a day but can be taken out when eating.

Was this due to curing the gel when it’s touching your skin? I heard this is a common issue with at home kits

Has anyone ever tried any of the online ‘Invisalign’ type companies? Just looking at one that is £1600.
i’m currently using smiledirectclub and it’s working for me but like others have said there have been some bad reviews so i don’t know that i’d recommend it, i suppose it depends on how your teeth are naturally? mine only had very minor gaps so they’ve easily been pulled in and i’ve not noticed any problems, but i was desperate and didn’t have the full £3000 to go to a more reputable brand like invisalign

Thanks that’s helpful. Mine don’t have gaps but my front two are a little squint and actually in some photos it’s not noticeable at all but on others I can really see it. Might look into that. Thanks

@polkadotsandleopardprint sorry if its the wrong person but did you get lumi eye? How did it go?
Yep, it was me! It was fine, I only bruised a little from the needles but nothing a bit of make-up didn't hide. I definitely felt like my eyes were less tired and puffy feeling for a few weeks afterwards, but I do think just the one session wasn't enough and if I do it again, I'd get a course of 3 perhaps. I also think tear trough filler might be a route I'd like to go down at some point.
