W & K, I'm not sure they are that close to the Spencer cousins, so probably just couldn't be bothered to go. Not sure if they have been to any other Spencer kids weddings. Don't know how many cousins they have on that side. I have lots of cousins who live abroad. I didn't go to many of their weddings ( although I would have done in a heartbeat if I could have afforded it and didn't have work commitments!) Maybe Earl Spencer and W & K know its some kind of publicity stunt/ sham so didn't want to bother.

W and K are currently on holiday on the Isle of Scilly (since last week) so I doubt that they didn't attend due to having to self-isolate.
I have always wondered why there isn’t more of a push for “play dates” (or perhaps socials are a better word!) with the younger royals.
When PP died, the Spanish royals sent a lovely letter of condolence to HMTQ and addressed it to “aunt Lilibet.” Princess Leonor is around the same age as James, Viscount Severn (Edward’s son) and she is actually going to school in Wales this year! Wouldn’t this be a golden opportunity to strengthen international ties, especially in post-Brexit?
Prince George and Charlotte are close in age to the children of Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden. In not talking about Queen Victoria style arranged marriages (Catherine is all the proof we need against that). I just feel this is a golden opportunity for some soft diplomacy and strengthening those historic ties!
But, but that would be work and we know that unless money, free clothes and a holiday is on the table, old Bill and Kate won’t bother themselves with asking their team of nannies to arrange such a playdate. Let alone network themselves.
I know the obvious reply would be that the kids have nothing in common but their ages, but some of them will undoubtedly be monarchs of their respective countries decades before George as we all know that Charles would attach his head to a beagle to prolong his life to stay King if he had to.
While I doubt she has close ties to the BRF but she attended the weddings of W&H with her father and siblings and a Diana memorial thing. Don’t know about the York weddings. She walked down the aisle with her brothers. It seems the relationship to her father has cooled off over time. It happens.
Maybe the other monarchies are not that interested in the BRF. Who knows?
I am also not sure that mixing with European Royalty is the look that W and K would like to achieve - they seem to go to great length to make it look that they are just like the normal British people.

It’s not that important either way, Bill and especially Kate are typically workshy not altogether bright rich kids - we can’t all be the grandson of a tax-exempt billionaire who has somehow grifted tax payer money to pay her family’s way.

They will never duck off into obscurity. The Royals, including W & K are desperate to keep the monarchy gravy train alive for as long as they possibly can. They are being very poorly advised if they really think they can pull off the 'Just like you' schtick. People aren't that stupid. The Royalists want the pomp and tradition and will simper and bow and scrape whatever they do. Most people who aren't monarchists still like the pomp and ceremony, most other people couldn't care less about them and the Republicans don't even want them to exist so pretending to be a middle class couple just struggling along won't wash with anyone.
She's in the line of succession, so she's just been added in. Why shouldn't she be? Puts Andrew down a step, which can only be a good thing!

If he’s removed I’m not sure that would necessarily mean that the children would be?With regards to W&K not socialising with the other royals I do think it looks a bit…cold? All the royal houses of Europe used to be close but not making an effort to keep these ties going makes it look very much us and them: us being The U.K. and them being Europe.

Why are people saying William and Kate don't socialise with the European Royals? They had a visit with the Swedish royals when Kate was pregnant with Louis and I've seen Kate on a visit with the Danish royals but we've been in a pandemic, so they can hardly be socialising with other countries?!
Perhaps William and Kate are too boring for the European royals. They are all much more progressive and forward thinking, they use their jewels and ostentatious frocks when they want to and they all look like they have the right balance.
I would prefer Kate and William to be like them rather than pretending to be middle class with a famous granny.

really, when you get past the direct heirs of Charles/William/George it’s all just something nice to put on the Christmas card. When you think that when he was born Princess Margaret’s son was 5th in line and now sits at 24th it just shows how those below William’s 3 will plummet when they start having families.
