I've always liked Camilla, so that's lovely to hear.
That's really great to hear. I've always liked her and Chatles, for that matter. Both of them are committed to sometimes unfashionable charities. Charles has been proved right on the environment when he was widely mocked in the 80's. They get a lot of flak because of Diana. It is different from fivi g your staff s Christmas bonus when you are one of the richest women in the world and they are serving you instead of their own families ( albeit voluntarily)

I also like Camila and Charles, they might not be that glamorous but seem to have good values and intentions. It is a shame they were not allowed to marry when they first got together. If they would have been, and everything would have been different in today’s royal family.

I was a bit disturbed this morning when I read that Kate and William only allow one a Royal photographer to attend their events. All other photographers apart from attending events and therefore cannot make any money, as they have no photos to sell.

I don’t know if the same is true for the other Royals.

I find this really bad and I don’t understand the rationale behind it. Apparently one photographer found it ironic that Kate and William visited a job center and brought comfort to people affected by the pandemic, but continue to bar photographers from earning any income without commenting on it.

It seems hypocritical.

Somehow, I find it equally disrespectful as the Tesco Christmas puddings. It comes across as if they do not value the people that work with them and for them, and the royal photographers are very important as they essentially promote the Royals in the UK and abroad.

Maybe its because its disconcerting to have loads of photographers around at an event? And perhaps too many photographers get in the way of the event itself?

Im not that used to photographers at events, but I know at weddings etc....the official photographer tends to spend ages and ages 'taking' informal photos of the couple and the family....Its great fun for guests as they can continue to socialise and let the photographer get on with it, but.....it does take the wedding couple away from their guests for an hour or so!

What's more important....that the royal family visit the job centre and interact with staff and people who use the place, or that a pack of photographers are given access?

I agree about the Tesco Christmas puddings though...that seems a bit cheap.....didnt Queen Victoria used to give staff hampers to say thank you?

There were always a number of official Royal Photographers at every event, they were approved as well.

The recent change is due to the pandemic.

Given that there are still crowds and the photographers don’t get close to the Royals I don’t understand that new rule.
It prevents the other photographers to earn money. They had been approved as a Royal photo graphers before starting that work and now 5hey have no income

The blog post has been picked up by royal photographers and reporters and they say the blogger is right.

No, the others don't handle it this way. It is made clear that only KP is using only one photographer, Buck P and Clarence H continue to work with several.

Yes, there's a pandemic. But that's why we have protocols and safety measures.

You can easily employ a roster of photographers.

Eg: Every event has 5-10 photographers. Every event has a different set of 5-10 photographers. Once all have been to an event, you start from the beginning of the list.
Everyone has to wear masks and keep a distance, when possible allocate set spots for the photographers.
Provide disinfectant, soap and breaks for washing hands etc.

It's doable and these are just my suggestions.
BP & CH seem to manage just fine, it's KP only who is fcking up.
If Liz is allowing more than one photographer to come to her events, then surely the Cambs can handle more than one as well.

Wills hates the press. They all do apart from the toadying Ingrid Seward type. William and Harry are both too dim and spoilt to see the bigger picture.

Surely they could put the royal photographers on a rota?

Oh yes...unless you have a ladies boudoir/ powder room where you take your lady guests to " freshen up "......

What about ice in the drinks, Pippa? Would you say that that is a good thing on a warm day?
Indeed,absolutely...nice drinkies with ice...even iced tea or coffee......

King George and Queen Mary were so mean to not allow their relatives the Romanovs to flee to the UK. Apparently because they didn't the Romanovs to inspire the British to oust British royal family.
Apparently Queen Mary waited until the surviving Romanovs were poor then bought their diamonds off them cheap.

It's true, a bunch of their jewels has been bought for cheap off struggling others, incl relatives (and well, the Romanovs were quite close relatives at that).

Mary also had the nasty habit of stealing stuff from other people's homes, to the point that when she was coming over to anyone's place, they'd hide their things so she wouldn't feel entitled to nicking their stuff.
Mary would come over, spot something and say it was "rightfully" a piece that belonged to the Windsors and just take it. Incl huge portraits and, well, anything. Apparently after her death there was an effort to return items, but I don't know how successful people were in getting their stuff back.

This seems to be "normal" behaviour for royals, I remember a story when Diana was somewhere signing into a guest book and remarked how nicely smooth the pen was and what pen exactly was it and the guy said "Oh that pen was a gift from my mum, just so you know, as I know how you people get things!" (was worded nicer) and Diana burst out laughing.

I really like the RF, when it works it works really well. I think the streamlined approach they are going for is a good thing. Imagine President Johnson, or Blair or May etc flying round the world representing us. Or look at how Trump reflects america abroad. The RF can represent a Britain above the changing world of politics. And if anyone thinks a president wouldnt cost a lot to run and wouldnt take full advantage of all the palaces and trappings on offer they are deluded. Blair had delusions of grandeur and Johnson already has repainted a UK version of air force one and will soon have an American style spokesperson.

I'm a big fan of Kate, she conducts herself so well and rises above everything. Plus to me she is stunning. I think people forget how badly treated she and her family were in the early days. I do like William alhough I find him a little colder. However, everyone excuses Harry everything because his Mum died, but William rarely gets the same recognition. People handle grief differently, plus he has added pressure of being king one day.

I like Charles and Camilla a lot, no one was innocent in the whole mess including Diana. I find the sainthood some of her fans put on her very creepy.

I agree. And people forget that many head of states are not as completely the choice of the people as we like to believe. They often are the choices the party presents rather than what people might have voted for if they would have more options. Especially systems were votes get accumulated on the next level can have a distorting effect. Power corrupts and money makes greedy. The BRF puts a comforting shine of tradition and glitz (and sometimes drama) over this. They are neither, better or worse than the political circle. For me, that is enough to not get rid of them but I can see why others won’t feel the same.
