While sad about our Queen it's at least some comfort to know Charles and Camilla will do a good job. I wasn't surprised by the queen's passing as I resigned to thinking it would be near with her declining health. I'll miss seeing her smiling happy face.

Woken up and want to cry already. I can't help but feel like a feeling of 'safety' has disappeared. I can't explain it. A person who you just believed would always be there. I didn't know I'd feel such grief and sadness whilst also recognising this would be hard.

I hope that doesn't sound selfish. I'm just expressing how I feel about the loss of our Queen.
I totally feel this ❤
I was trying to explain that feeling of a loss of safety you described, I said it feels like we’re on a ship without our captain anymore 😥

I hope this comment doesn’t upset anyone. I logged onto social media this morning and saw so much stuff (mostly from American pages) about the queen being an awful symbol of colonialism etc. I’m really shaken. I didn’t realise that’s how she was seen as colonialism didn’t happen during her lifetime surely.

It’s such a weird feeling. She’s been a constant in our lives. Even though the monarchy will be continued, there’s going to have to be a period of adjustment for the RF and our country/the world.

I think we are so used to seeing her face it will be strange seeing Charles as King but I guess he has waited for his turn!

There’s something very ethereal about this photo

A small minority of trolls and many bots I would guess. Even putin respected our queen.

Went out this morning to buy armfuls of newspapers to commemorate the occasion for my nephew and niece ... when they grow up they probably won't give a monkey's but it's nice to have

The weather seems to match todays mood - thick clouds and grey. Radio 1 playing Ed sheeran perfect and then Alicia keys no-one has got me in tears. While nothing changes, everything changes. This really is going to be a time of national mourning.

I wouldn’t pay them any attention. Some
people will use any tragedy for a bit of lime light.

Woken up today still with a weird feeling. Bit of grief, bit of anxiety.
People are sharing stories so I have 1. My husband was in armed forces and was at 1 point at Balmoral. Him and another soldier were ‘patrolling the grounds’ and as they rounded a corner quite literally bumped into this little lady in tweeds and a head scarf. Of course they jumped back to raise the old ‘who goes there’ when they suddenly realised it was Her Majesty. They then both did a weird comedy style half salute half bow/bob up down. Benny Hill style salute. The Queen burst out laughing with that twinkle in her eye and said “Do Carry On” and walked off 🤣🤣

Here’s an example of instant Karma, this insensitive twit was pictured ‘celebrating’ at her fish and chip shop only to have to close the shop and call the police to rescue her from a furious mob! What a twit 😂🙈

Paddington has set me off again this morning. Feels like some sort of messed up dream.
Had to mute a few WhatsApp groups this morning as the memes have already started and I'm just finding it so disrespectful

I saw this too, I had to unfollow. So tone deaf.

This is my eldest daughters local fish n chip shop. This idiot really misread the mood of the area. The owner has been arrested according to locals. I mean we’re all allowed an opinion but you reap what you sow. I doubt she’ll reopen

Feels like we’ve woken into a different world this morning. Dreading the people at work who will no doubt be making jokes out of it. I hope not but I will have to bite my tongue and thank God it’s Friday.

Shocking! she was probably so excited to do something controversial she didn’t stop and think about it and now will have ruined her business, I don’t have any sympathy to be honest. Like you say we can have different opinions, but god have a bit of class and respect!

The Commonwealth that she cherished so much was borne out of colonialism. No doubt it will now fragment more and eventually crumble into ashes, it was very much a thing of its time but now its rather outdated we saw how uncomfortable William and Kate's trip was in Jamaica. Its past its sell by date and needs to go.

I don’t understand this mentality. Despite your opinions on the monarchy a person has died, it’s disgusting and spiteful thing to celebrate. Glad karma got her.
