I’m not a monarchist, but I have the most profound respect for her. She was only two days ago working and meeting up with the new Prime minister. I greatly respect a woman who did not choose her role but was dedicated entirely to it. You can dislike the institution and still like the person. I always got the impression she wanted simple things, riding a horse, walking in wellies with damp dogs - the travesty of the institution is it took her away from a life she may have preferred.
Death is always sad. Mortality is always an unhappy state to dwell on, and even the death of someone you bitterly oppose can only make you contemplate it.

Can anyone who was watching the BBC news live yesterday evening shed some light on something for me? I get the impression from this tweet they announced the Queen’s passing and then shortly after moved to the more formal “This is BBC news from London” announcement followed by the national anthem? Just thought it was a bit odd if so as it seemed to be a departure from protocol.
Woken up this morning and am already in tears, just from turning the TV on as Sky's homepage is purple with a memorial photo and the years of birth and death. I echo what a few of you have mentioned in that it feels like we're a little lost at the moment following losing someone who had steered us with such dignity and strength for so very long. I just feel sad. I'm not back at work til tomorrow evening so just taking the day to feel that. Apparently, according to the BBC this morning, King Charles (and I assume therefore Camilla and Anne who were both there early doors yesterday) was with her when she went.
Such a strange feeling this morning, so agree at least she passed in such a special place to her.

I think they had the ongoing UK coverage for it and then probably went to all the international BBC sites with the formal notice and that this would be the clip used by other media outlets?
It's going to take me a while to get used to saying King Charles.
Look at the review replies she's posted on her shop. Whenever someone says they don't like something, she argues the toss. Seems a horrid women.
