I don't really know why I'm so upset. I think it's just the uncertainty and change. I really did have soft spot for the Queen 🤍 I know she was old, but it still seems such a shock.

I don't want to be negative on this thread but I just feel like it's been one thing after another since 2016.

I don't want to appear flippant but Huw Edwards on BBC is looking tired now. It has been a long day for him.

I always feels weirdly triggered when I see footage on tv from 2011-12 - it feels like such a different time when everything felt so happy and light, the royal wedding, the 2012 Olympics etc it felt like such a joyous time and just so different to how life has felt recently

it’s okay to feel unsure and anxious when we are going through so many changes and uncertainty, I try to remain hopeful that better and happier days are coming ❤ I hope everyone is okay x

Yeah agreed. Life felt easier back then. I feel like everything sucks now.

The Canadian PM's speech was really lovely. Also Boris Johnson's tribute was very heartfelt and beautifully written. Truss already coming across as quite cold and unfeeling.

Saw Trudeau's speech.

It's funny thinking of his Dad meeting her to sign treaties etc all those years ago and now his son is reading tributes to her.

Where else in the world would you find a 96 year old working right up until 2 days before they pass away. What an incredible woman she was ♥

Omg exactly this. I do as well! I get upset seeing stuff from the early 2000s as well, life seemed so happy and carefree.

Everything felt very United - even if you weren’t a fan of the royal family it kind of brought you together.
Compared to now where everyone seems to be fractured and fraught.

I do think there's a tendency to see the past through rose tinted glasses but yeah 2012 was a good year. I remember feeling almost positive about the future... probably helped that I was 10 years younger too!
Now it seems dire.

It seems too soon to be referencing 'The King' when we've only ever really known the Queen, but I guess that's the way it is.

very cold and unfeeling, clearly the speech was written for her and not well rehursed! The way she delivered the speech, finished with God save the King and turned round and went back into number 10. No recpectful pause, just a hasty retreat. She had clearly thrown a black dress on and not even looked in the mirror as the neckline was askew. No respect for the monarch who had granted her the right to govern and form a government a few days earlier. Totally disrespectful and not a good start to her new job!!

Everything seems so suggest that it'll be 4 - 6 months to the Coronation day but it doesn't really mean anything. He is now our King.

Edited to say that it'll take that long for Camilla to get a blow dry. She does like it a la Jilly Cooper.

At least a year I read
Wow, I did not think it would be that long

Yes definitely not a great start.
