My great nan had some M&S sandwiches for dinner, a couple of chocolates then had a snooze in her armchair and never woke up. She was 92. Sometimes your body simply becomes too tired. I think thinks the case here. She lost her love last year and I think it became too hard without him.
Same as my grandfather. Had his breakfast, sat in his favourite chair and nodded off forever.

It’s just so strange how she appeared okay 2 days ago. Mind you at 96 I suppose it can happen
Yeh my great grandma was fine, had a lovely day at the beach with my grandma and her husband, she went to bed that night and passed away having had a stroke in her sleep, nothing could have been done. It was heartbreaking but at least she had that wonderful day out in a place she loved.

My great auntie recently passed she was 98. In good spirits at lunchtime when her carer came back in the evening was dead sat in her chair with the TV on. She just drifted off and we were told it would have been painless. It's a lovely way to go but weirdly still a shock.

I'm 34. I cannot imagine living another 63 years 😬😳 what an age. She lived a good life, albeit confined to a royal life.

I've said before that I want to live to 114, so I can see 2100 (my birthday is in February, so I'd actually be 113 at the start of 2100).

BBC have just broadcast an interview with a member of the public who said she will never see another Queen in her lifetime. That's a weird fact to think. Even if Charles doesn't have a long reign, it's William and then George. It will probably even be our children's children if not their children the next time there is a Queen.

Crikey. I'm 40 and have already told my family that I'll be annoyed if I don't see at least 96. I plan on sticking around for a good while yet (fingers crossed!).

I know we expected it but it is a shock. So sad. I was listening to huw edwards as didn’t expect anything to happen, then I heard him take a big gulp and then he announced it.

It wasn’t until just now Clive’s voice cracked as there was footage of two little girls outside Buckingham palace and it’s broken me. My son was born a month before the jubilee. He was very poorly and in neonatal. We celebrated the jubilee as a family because he was home and when we had witching hour every evening he liked looking at the Union Jack bunting I’d put in our front bay window and being rocked. My husband also put a Union Jack flag in our hanging basket at the front door. I haven’t been able to take either down/away since the jubilee.

What a legacy HM queen Elizabeth II has left 🤍

I’d normally be buzzing if so But I’m on maternity, not very thoughtful of her to wait 🤣
I'm on mat leave too and get an extra days holiday added to my balance for any bank holidays. Hoping to take a month's holiday before I have to go back to have a cash boost

Me either. My children asked earlier if there was a King now. I said yes and that it would only be Kings for the next three. I'm the same age as William, so if I outlive him (see my comment about being 96) then I might see King George.

My Nan has seen 4 monarchs as she was born in 1934, so born under Edward and he abdicated when she was 2.

What a sad day for our country and the world. My Grandma used to always watch the Queen and comment on her outfits, her and my grandfather loved a good gossip about the royals too. The Queen holds some lovely memories for me. What a woman she was.
Rest in peace HRH Queen Elizabeth II 💜 thank you…

Guess we can't predict what will happen to our health. The royals are privileged and get the best health treatment, food, drink etc, so natural for them to live to a good age. Probably much easier for the Queen to be 96 than your average 90+ year old.

I've said this on another thread somewhere but I'm wondering about the marks on the back of her hands yesterday. Maybe liver cancer or some sort of liver disorder?
Could be from having blood taken or canula for medicaton .

It's insane to thing Elizabeth was the 6th monarch to rule in the 20th century.

I guess the stamps, coins and banknotes will change to show Charles now. Got so used to the Queen always appearing on them, I can’t imagine a different face instead.
I wonder how long the currency with the Queen's image, will continue to be legal tender?
