The tiles were also half the size if not a quarter of the size of laland tiles as well.
The book is a good read. It doesn't hide anything and pretty much follows the chronology of the show. I knew Dick had to work away a few times, but didn't know how much. It did seem like a lot to take on, but they did it and each person plays to their own strengths business wise.
Living and learning. If anything the whole process would put me off a renovation that size.

Having watched all the chateau DIY
Here’s what I’ve noticed about chateau owners whom are
Successful and doing RENOVATION

In the team ( husband & wife)
He’s formerly worked as an engineer
He’s got a tool kit for the last 20 years
He’s meticulous about planning
He’s “dabbled” in all trades
He’s invested in finishing a job
He’s under the gun design wise ie no say ....

Even if you take some of the guys who literally changed career - he has brains to figure it out .....

3 owners not stuck for intelligence...
But lack the mindset and willpower to learn and fix
The 2 lads coining it in at their respective careers
Unless any work could be fudged for FREE —- it never happened
( initially electric and water and heat )

Since then nothing happened as it wasent ever in their BUDGET to fix

On balance id rather be the latter
As and when all works are completed
It was our OWN achievement....

Also I have some ides for what to do with the attics and outhouses I'd love to share with you. Have you considered turning the second courtyard buildings into a creative hub/arts centre/artist colony? I have been dreaming of this for weeks! While I'm not a fan of daddy's art, I don't see what all the fuss about naked cartoon people is about. It's not porn! I think some people are being prudish and reading way too much into this.

It is not the nudity itself that is controversial. It is, like @lolander mentions, the fact that there is always an allusion to something sexual and perverse.
Michelangelo's David is nude, but he is not sexualised, nor does he hint at something sexual.
Derek Javis' Gardeners Frolicking has the viewer watching them pruning, a mundane task, naked from the waist down, grinning as if to imply a sexual act.
If we are talking about controversial nudes, then do remember Édouard Manet's Olympia, who was not controversial for her nudity, but for her confrontational staring at the gazer and the implication of her being a prostitute, which invites the gazer in an uncomfortable suggestion of a sexual act.

Eroticism can be fine / high art. Derek Jarvis' erotic paintings aren't.

I may be missing something here - what is so difficult re the tiles? Angel has a scanner and digital printer (which does tiles) - she printed her own tiles in one of the ETC episodes. Scan available drawings, take the actual measurements of the stove area, mock up a piece of chipboard then start mock up by bluetacking images with a strip representing the grouting (they haven't thoughtvof tgat yet). As it will be vertical it can be view tested in actual kitchen. Do tests of the colouring then identify compisition gaps to be created by Steve. Some of these composition gaps would be digital copies or adaptions of other tiles. The technology available today makes this very doable. I think SJ needs a digital media art specialist as well as a Steve.

There is a chance that even though Marie seemed unreceptive to your advice, it may have hit home to her. I remember getting some unwanted advice when I was a young adult—I was quite indignant and angry though it was well intentioned and pertinent. And it actually helped—not that I wanted to admit it at the time! So you will probably never know if you helped Marie or not. But just maybe you did.

-Had she not won the lottery with Patreon, the terrace would absolutely never have been fixed. She only cares about the things she can show off (Fortuny, etc.) and not the building's longevity at all seeing she had 16 years to address this.

Hello Tattlers ..been a lurker for a while as I found you all when wondering why things at Lalonde seemed off. This was around the time of Thomas. You guys are awesome and sleuth the truth! I too am agog at the lack of planning for everything at Lalonde.The unfinished loo is unbelievably silly with all those hordes of workmen and other people at the house. The project selection around that place makes no sense. It is a grift that goes nowhere. The list of unfinished project when starting others is ridiculous. This tile one leads me to believe it was fabricated to give the Canadians a reason to be there in lock down when they should NOT be there. The whole tile project looks like a nightmare (both logistically and visually) and way beyond their scope. also I think Clara is realizing this was not a good idea and it is finally dawning on her she has no real reason to be there. Also...the lead pipe thing...omg...you guys are onto something. how much you want to bet we see water bottles being shipped into the kitchen?.
