Sorry for the confusion. I should have referred to him as BS - Billy Spielberg - Billy Petherick.

An Old Graveyard on Cape Cod | New England Walk in Spring | Why I find a Cemetery a place of Joy
Just when you think you've seen it all.... Donna Davis Art, (CD super fan), new vlog title????? Could it be that the local establishments have asked her to stop filming????? Are all the live chats making you feel uneasy?????
I come here to lurk and laugh about these crazy grifters in France (and Madrid) and I see the above title 🤔 [suddenly a It’s a Small World starts playing in my head-which is very annoying].

@Jill Scott Seems like he has minimal duties. Thought Stephanie does most of her filming and social media. Amused at your answer, you know so much about what goes on there. 😃

@Jj Roberts Stephanie commented more than once when she announced awhile ago that Phillip was now on staff and what he would be doing. He is doing a lot of the filming now and helping manage the lalande facebook page and instagram account and also moderating the youtube channel. And I suppose whatever else is required. 😄😄😄

They have many projects planned so like anywhere they are managing budgets and projects. Getting quotes enables them to place them on the timeline. The chateau roof is fine. Ian the builder is the one who will do the attic work but is also working on nati and stephanies apartment. Also, the stonemasons working on the terrace are really busy so she cannot just have them carry on with the other work. It is irresponsible not to get quotes. And a lot of the work being done at the moment is about restoring the chateau and insulating it for heat retention which is a major issue.

If BJJ is doing all that? Then what is Nutti doing? Marie cooks😝😰. Mary popping cleans????? ( Where?) SJ sleeps till noon. Selmar is busying wooing his luva 😘😘. Peacocks and chickens are pooing...everywhere.
Stuff in storage is rotting.
I know! Nutti is opening gifts from last December!!!!!

I don't remember SJ ever saying what Sir Snorts a lot's job was going to be except when she introduced him as a new volunteer. Does anyone know what episode that was mentioned on? Maybe just a Patreon video.

Every time I see the pine cone ‘trees’ flanking the fireplace, I think, Tower of Turds. Dusty Turd Towers. That’s a good name for Lalande! Steve should get to work on the logo. Maybe they’re Towers of Half-Eaten Cadbury Eggs, stuck with a glue gun.

Time for art: sexless face in red?
Please re-post the blue garden painting, if you have it: the man in cap and jacket, naked below the waist, on top of the woman holding a watering can. Thanks.

I can't recall which episode it was but I do remember it being mentioned that Snortie is on payroll to help in filming.
And so it dawned on me - it's virtually impossible to fire someone in France and that means we may need to suffer the male camel toe indefinitely.

I wonder if Philip, Natti and Marie have signed a work contract with Stephanie/Lalande.
It would be interesting to know.
If they have French work contracts, it means their employer must paid social charges for their public health insurance (Sécurité Sociale), pension, State unemployment fund etc.
And yes, it's harder to fire them.

Surely our shitalaine is smarter than to risk a three year imprisonment and 45000 euro fine for dissimulated work? Surely?

I totally agree with you and I apologise for my previous comment. I have huge respect for anyone who makes the effort to learn another language. All the Lalanders are very fluent, which is to be admired. I'm trying to learn Italian myself. Clearly need to engage my brain more often.
I have been just as guilty of over-correcting, as a former teacher, it's a natural instinct but I know I shouldn't and am trying to stop myself!! In most speech, fluency is certainly more important than accuracy and we native speakers often make mistakes ourselves.

I thought exactly the same.

You can find Italian cheese in France too.
What a snob !
And Patreons and subscribers still happy with all this !

Yes. I don’t see any over-correcting happening here, however, even when it comes to Marie’s inability to make the ‘th’ sound, which has led to some unintentionally comic moments and ‘teet’ jokes. There’s no reason that in all these years someone couldn’t have explained to Marie how to make the sound so she would be understood, and no reason she couldn’t have practised making the sound; that’s what language learners do. Of course, maybe she’s not bothered to learn, or less likely, she has a speech deficit. She has positioned herself as a social media presenter who speaks (and writes) in English—planning to speak on serious life-or-death mental health issues, no less!—so any correction or criticism she might receive is well-warranted, and has more to do with one’s level of patience than one’s ‘tolerance.’

Those of you that have been watching for a while, has there been a vlog about how the structure of the building and site has changed over time? Logically the ooooold section would have had an entry hall and it seems the whole property was oriented differently. Then the additions, the fire, etc changed everything. BTW if this hasn’t been done on a vlog and shows up soon I want credit!
Also it seems that the previous owners haven't much done to restore the chateau. They didn't care for the chapel, no gutters, no drainage, no heating.... It is not only SJ who is neglecting basic upkeeping, decades before nothing seems to have been done.

Lalande was their summer chateau only. Not their main house.
It was certainly shared between members of their family.
And they enjoyed it with the whole family in summer.
The Nadaillac family still has other (more beautiful and interesting) châteaux and big houses around France.
It's usually the case in these old money/aristocratic families.
For them, Lalande was not worth spending money in it because of its lack of architectural and historical interest.
They knew it was a huge money pit and were certainly more than happy to find a buyer ! 😂

Why bother? There's a ceiling on the prices in the area and they're very low. They realized they could offload the dump onto a mug and get quite a good price for it without doing much, and that's what they did. Must've seen her coming! Who buys a château with dry rot in it?

What I don't understand is why would you try to clean tiles on videos with 5K viewers and thousands of stakeholders on whose money you depend without Googling it? Powerwashing and soaking have got to be the two methods either not mentioned or specifically warned against. The big patreons who did not freak and reconsider their donations when they saw the panelling being stashed in the guano room must be out of their minds.

I just grossed myself out, but laughed, title for the next Tattle tranche: Teabagging the Tiles.
Funnily enough, Mrs G bought the kindle edition of D&A book for 99p. In it they both go into detail about struggles they had and one such struggle were the tiles. These were in the entrance hall (see first episodes of Escape to the Chateau) whilst the whole process was not shown in the prog, he describes how they had to angle grind the cement/muck off the back of them.
Other thing of note: Bat guano and Bird droppings and flies were all tackled and made hygienic, prior to fully moving in and problems which arose once moving in were also tackled. Heating, plumbing Skeptic (sorry couldn't resist) tanks. One telling note was that whilst they learned from mistakes made, they also had the forethought to put in things in advance of future jobs, so work wouldn't have to be redone and mess up progress.
Also noted was the fixing of the balustrade and steps at the front of the Chateau as this was crumbling and if having guests, then they did not want to kill or maim anyone.
I wonder if Steph and her co owners have read the book? Lots of handy tips there about project management oh and I expect she could have asked Dick if needs be. 99p bargain on kindle would have saved us and her a massive headache!
Steph also has the advantage of speaking French fluently, this was one of my criticisms of D&A, however, they at least do now speak a modicum of French and have also begun to build up a reliable supply of people to help at the Chateau. Also noted is the fact that they admit to using help when needed and they budget for it. No patrons in the early days to fund this...a business plan and work!

I thought I wouldn't comment on the issue anymore but here we go.

The English so-called th sound (or dental fricative) is extremely rarely found in other languages and is often very difficult phoneme for non-native speakers to produce. There are millions of non-native English speakers who never learn how to produce it and have to replace it with alternatives. Call that a speech disorder if you will.

There are also English native dialects that do not use the th sound. For example, traditionally east Londoners replace the voiced and voiceless dental fricative with v and f sounds respectively. Would you tell a Londoner that they are making a mistake by not pronouncing the th in the same way as you do? You don't need to like it but having an accent is encouraged these days.

Now when it comes to FRK's choice of subject matter and the way she presents herself... yeah, I'm ready to feed her to the wolves.

SJ: 'Tous les femmes'...
Even I would call that a mistake.
