With the caveats that I don't know her and never will, I'm not psychic etc... I don't think she will ever have kids because she loves her art and performing for massive crowds more. I may very well be proven wrong but it's just the impression I get.
I agree. I can’t see her having kids and actually I can’t see her getting married either!

I read online that artists are taking longer to announce dates in areas like Mexico because the exchange rate is so bad that they could end up losing money/incurring more costs if they announced it too far in advance? Not sure how true!

I am still standing by her doing South America and Australia before she comes to the UK/Europe
Sorry to be that person but Mexico is still North America 🤣

As far as I understand from what this friend has told me, for Mexico at least, performers say "I'll come for X amount of dollars" and get paid in dollars. It's the promotor's problem how they make up that money. Concert tickets are also equivalently expensive to the US in my experience of when I lived there. Like I paid 150 USD to see Adele and it was like middle of the road.

It'd make sense for her to do a few dates on her own hemisphere to end the year and then leave the transatlantic/transpacific touring for the next. But I'm not her tour manager 🤣

Thank you for this, firstly geography isn’t my strong suit as you can tell 😂 that makes sense what you’ve posted

I like the 1975s music but he badly needs a PR manager. Like yesterday. The rest of the band stay quiet and let the music be the focus which honestly good for them. I can imagine they feel like babysitters half the time!

I will say I don’t think Matty would be cruel to anyone who is a different race or gender or anything. I think half of the stuff he says he’s trying to be edgy and start stuff like an internet troll… which obviously there’s still no excuse for. That kind of “humour” you expect off a 15 year old on voice chat. Not a 34 year old man.

It would be so easy to just apologise. I don’t get why he can’t just say sorry.

“I am sorry for any upset caused by the comments made on the podcast show. Please know that these were meant as poorly thought out humour and not reflective of my views. This was hurtful and I realise that joking about XYZ is not funny and peoples hurt should not be used for punchlines.”

He’s being very cruel in my eyes by broadly saying anyone offended by what he says is “a bit mental” (even if he didn’t intend it to come out that way he’s basically said any POC finding it hurtful and racist is mental). It takes no more than 2 seconds to think before you speak, he should have learned that by now.

It’s not even about “being hurt by what Matty Healy said” or however he’s choosing to twist this, it’s about being angry and upset that someone who’s in the public eye, and for some god forsaken reason is absolutely adored by so many young people, is being so openly racist and misogynistic and perpetuating stereotypes and hatred of marginalised groups. Nobody should be saying this stuff, and they certainly shouldn’t be so bleeping comfortable saying it.

I'm assuming we've all seen the videos of him staggering around the stage with a bottle of wine. Hard to know how much of an act it is.

What I feel is going too far is the random making out with audience members at the barrier. Totally weird!

and discussed with Friedland and co-host Nick Mullen an instance in which Friedland and a woman walked in on Healy masturbating to "Ghetto Gaggers" — which they described as "hard-core pornography" — on his 77-inch screen TV "30 seconds" after a gathering at Healy's house ended.

Ghetto Gaggers is a porn site known for videos featuring the humiliation and brutalization of mostly Black women.

(includes a description of a video from the 'category' so NSFW)

I feel like we go round in circles on this thread with the Matty Healy stuff. Does he have his own thread?

Looks like it’s mainly fans there so might not be same open discussion about him across multiple other thread but if you wish here is the bands thread.

I wasn’t going to comment on the Popbase tweet for fear of coming over as the Matty apologist of the thread- but I have to say they have 100% taken a really well put together piece of journalism and pulled out something for click bait / to stir the TS fans into further rage.

The whole point of the article is to articulate- and put Matty’s voice more prominently into - the conversations about his persona and the things he says and does. I think it’s fascinating that dating Taylor has pulled him into such focus with those who aren’t fans and I don’t ever think there will be a point reached where it isn't divisive. I think what I find strange in particular is he is not known in general in the UK for who he is or what he says, he's known as a frontman and songwriter in his band (and is loved and respected for it).

I've said before that I'll never sit on here and ask people to like Matty or defend what he has said. he is wrong for a lot of it and his choices on his persona/how he reps himself is problematic at best. However the article is a really good deep dive and Popbase is looking to get buzz/shares/click bait (successfully) which I think is a shame for the author. Matty is obviously deeply complex and a big thinker - as is Taylor, which is why I think they make sense together. He doesnt want to be understood by the general public as far as I can see and the article more or less states this is why he is how he is, publically. (that doesn't mean he doesnt cause hurt to others by doing so)

The thing I find odd is that Taylor could have dated him privately and quietly, and had her PR reposition him before sharing it. Which leads us back to- why is she choosing to be so bold about it? What does she want the fans to do? Or has she grown so arrogant that she thought everyone would just accept it?? I wonder what she thinks of it all.

I spend a lot of my time cracking up when I see the reel of Matty saying “I was watching Andrew Tate the other day...” and Adam starts playing INLIFINWY. The amount of people in the comments who don’t understand it’s a bit sends me into orbit 😂😂 it shouldn’t make me laugh that much, but I suppose I don’t have a lot going on right now.

‘Like context in a modern debate, I just took it out’
Most of the articles at this point are clickbait and most of the twitter threads are taken out of context. It feels like brexit or the vaccine with so much fake news going around and people refuse to research in to it. Whenever I see anything that’s supposed to shock me, I fact check because you can’t believe the media anymore.

Oh totally. He should have just apologised. Even if he had no ill intent with saying it, it would have been the mature thing to do.
