This is a little off topic, but roughly associated so apologies if anyone feels it's too much of a digression but I recently came across a YouTube couple's blog that reaaaaallly highlighted how fecking poor Hannah and Shane's actual artistry/execution of their blog is, I means it's downright amature and they call themselves professional bloggers!

So, I'm really into travel and their is a couple called Eamon and Bec who blog their travels and adventures, with two large series on building a cabin in the woods and 'van life', where they travel the world in a live in van that they adapted. They are both vegan, which features in their blog but isn't that main thing rather than them also sharing recipes etc. Just watching ten minutes of their blog I was like 'jesus christ, this is so much better executed than anything those other two cretins have produced in terms of cinematography, sound editing and also just general charisma of the two of them. I was really enjoying their adventures, and also incredible jealous ( but not in a 'aww screw you guys' type way, more just admiration and a desire to have even an inch of their lifestyle) of the life they put out on their blog. But what I really like about them is they also make an effort to show when things don't go so well, and when they come up against things that challenge them on a practical and emotional basis, which is exactly what S&G lack in my opinion - any sense of humility.

Anyway I dove deep into their blogs when I noticed that there were a lot of comments on it saying that they hope the lady Bec was getting on well with her treatment. Turns out she has sadly been diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer, which really shows you how life can change in an instant. They recently put on a blog about Bec going through chemo and losing her hair, and I was actually moved to tears. I not the type to buy into celeb couples or anything like that, but they just made a really raw, ernest and realistic video about how it feels for a women to go through the trauma of treatment and losing her hair. It really touched a nerve with me because I actually lost almost all my hair a few years ago after my dad died (thankfully it grew back but it took a year and a half) and my poor wee niece has just lost hers after my mum died, an you see this girl Bec really go through a mourning process for this massive bit of her identity. It was so touching. And again, I reflected how S&G have this really life affirming story to tell, but they are so thoroughly dishonest and unlikeable that I have literally no empathy for them. That really takes some doing when you consider the realities of Shane's condition.

Also, here is the chemo blog if anyone is interested. Its a honestly a really well made bit of work.

Yes very touching very sad. Hair loss can deflate a person beyond belief. It is underestimated the way one can feel without their hair.

It’s always brought our feelings of annoyance as they deny deny deny and deny the condition to spread endless positivity and laughter and something so utterly unfunny. To truly laugh at something we must shed emotion and tears yet this channel presents void most days of any sadness and pain. The good times couple with the bad times yet their bad times are only ever when they are trolled by other people it makes it so hard to relate to them and trust them

Yes, they come across as much more likable than S&G, but that's just based on that one video. I noticed they have the same sponsor as S&G, that overpriced, overhyped "function of nature" thing. I thought the woman looked better with the "bob" cut, but that's JMO. I gave up long hair after high school and would NEVER go back to keeping it long. Since this thread is about S&G I don't want to devolve into a full-blown discussion of this couple, but I just looked at their channel. She was dx'd with BC in December. I can't imagine a dr then giving her the green light for IVF treatment. I know the chemo "might" leave her with fertility issues, but I would think the hormones necessary for IVF would be like throwing gasoline on the BC fire, but it sounds like she's consulting with specialists and has made an informed decision. I wish her the best.

I hope that her diagnosis will help her, and her boyfriend reevaluate their relationship with food and possibly start eating meat- she needs all of the strength that she can get right now. Meat has a ton of protein and vital nutrients, and I eat meat with every meal- I never get sick other than Covid in 2020 and I never feel weak or starving because of the protein I take in every day that helps me with my weightlifting, cardio and overall health. Everyone's entitled to their own choice in diets, but I believe that a balanced diet of different cuts/types of meat at every meal with a side salad and cut up fruit is the way to go. I think that sometimes veganism/vegetarianism can morph into harmful food fixations or restrictive calorie counting, so I hope that this girl has a somewhat healthy relationship with food- definitely should do a blood test for vitamin deficiencies and cholesterol levels. I wish her the best.

I've been following Eamon and Bec for a few years and I love them! I get worried when they are late with posting because I wonder how Bec's health is doing. The last video had me in tears when Eamon spoke about how he was doing. They are such a lovely and interesting couple! They've never had a dull video ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤

Hannah’s stories today: 2 in a row about haters, then the third is a drawing saying “if external validation is your main source of nourishment, you will hunger for the rest of your life.” Irony, anyone?

Wow. Just wow. Am blown away by the realness of this couple. And, yes @boredawn, THIS is what professional vloggers do and THIS is what a mature, healthy relationship is all about. S & G could have had this kind of channel if they had the desire, or ability, to do so. What a waste.....

That’s pretty bloody rich coming from someone who has based their entire career on external validation as an interabled couple while their viewers pay for everything

I swear to god, sometimes this forum is worse than a Boris Johnson dinner party.
-Who are you to judge this couple about their level of knowledge about their own health?
-Did you know that most vegans are highly educated on their own health and regularly do checkups?
-If people are critically ill, they need medical nutrients, not a steak.
-Red meat, processed meat, and dairy, are causes of cancer.
-There are literarily hundreds of sources for protein that are plant based, and that contain more protein than meat.
-Most vegans have no problems with protein deficiency. What they have to supplement is Vit B12, which is difficult to cover the daily ration of.
-Most people don’t know that the cows that are producing milk by being constantly made pregnant and gets their babies taken away, are also given Vit B12 as a supplement. So basically what non vegans are doing is eating B12 that went through the intestines of a cow first, then was put into the mother’s milk she produces for her calf, which humans then drink. Whilst vegans manage to take this supplement on their own.
-Veganism means basically you eliminate almost all cholesterol problems as eggs, milk and meat which does cause cholesterol problems are eliminated. Only people with genetic factors and those who swim in coconut and palm oil will have problems despite being vegan.
-There are several successfull and healthy vegan body builders, weight lifters, athletes and sport competitors. Google it.
-Anyone can have harmful food fixations. Veganism is not a diet, it’s an ethical decision and a way of life. Of course there will always be that hippie that thinks veganism is «the road to a clean body» or some new age fanatic believing that veganism means loosing weight - but those are not your average vegans. Those are the extremes which are in every layer of our society and can not be used as an example for a general way of living for a growing number of the population.

Read a book and get educated on veganism before spewing out completely wrong statements full of prejudice and ignorance. A good start is here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58093554-this-is-vegan-propaganda

Yes, "that's rich" was exactly my first thought, too! I don't look at IG very often (only use it to occasionally check in on few d-list celebs... LOL), but I just looked at H's latest. Could she possibly look any trashier w/o being banned from IG? SMH. A brami (y'all taught me a new word!) and capri-pant-length, drawstring sweatpants(?). Real classy!

Ironically enough, you're coming off as very judgmental in your reply to me with your attempts to educate/seem better than me in your diet choices! I simply was stating that maybe the vital nutrients and protein content in meat could help the girl have more energy and nutrition while she's undergoing chemo to recover from cancer and that I wish her the best. You have every right to make your own diet decisions and I'll make mine. I'm a lifelong meat eater and I am not going to read your entire post or your book recommendation. I will however respectfully ask you to back off from this issue and have a great day! I'm cooking 7 pounds of beef tri tip for family dinner tonight, so you're preaching to the wrong choir! 😙

Hey, @SmallWonder, wanna come over to my house and we'll grill a few top-notch steaks on the grill? Bacon as a side dish. Followed - of course - by a pint (each) of our favorite ice cream. With hot fudge spooned from the jar. No pre-heating necessary; just access to a spoon. And if we both have full Tammy Baker make-up on it'll just add to our classiness. 😄

You are an absolute delight, Double Old 😄!!!! That is an invitation that I cannot pass up- I'll take a Greyhound bus or a plane 😉!! I thought of you the other day and bought two pints of Ben and Jerry's (Half Baked and Tiramisu) during a buy one get one free sale and I've cracked right into them with a spoon in your honor. Let's light up the grill for some T-bone steaks, and burgers, and hot dogs, and lamb, and bison and venison and I'll put on my hot pink lipstick, teased signature dated pageant hairstyle, Maybelline mascara and heavy-handed blush as a nod to the late Tammy Faye!
🎶 Don't give up! We're on the brink of a miracle! 🎶 😄 Lokencrepis will make a delicious peppercorn sauce for the steaks and I'll get out the cloth napkins for such a fine occasion!! ☺
