I also think a letter to the Guardian cc’d to NAS and a couple of their big name Ambassadors could be the way to go. You literally commented on her hair colour, that’s it.
I agree actually - contacting the brands would be both more likely to elicit a response and be communicated to Sali

First of all welcome. Secondly as someone whose hair has been steadily falling out for about 4 years and who is now seeing her wiggy future, I found it hilarious. And it seems that hair, even when we have it, brings so much drama into our lives.

What does it do for you?
It’s hard to pinpoint, it’s good at making pores seem less visible and just makes my skin look fresher and brighter. I mean it’s not stopping the sag or anything like that, but my skin looks smoother. Makeup sits on it better, that sort of thing.

Thank you! I've got prometrium too. I took it for a month, but noticed no change one way or the other, so I stopped. Never had a hot flush or any other classic meno symptoms, so I think my E dose is good for me and I don't really want to drop it lower because I want to protect my bones, brain, heart etc. Surgical menopause is lifelong unfortunately
Not everyone has hot flushes, although yes, they are considered to be one of the classic symptoms. It was the first one I had, yet I still had normal levels of oestrogen.

I had a premature menopause so am on HRT for at least another decade to protect my bones, brain, heart etc. Initially, I was given oestrogen when my body was still producing high levels of it which exacerbated all my issues. A specialist looked at my bloods properly and realised I had stopped producing progesterone and initially, that was all I needed and at the highest possible dose. As my body has now stopped producing oestrogen and testosterone, I am on those too. But as I said, I'm really sensitive to oestrogen, hence the lowest possible dose.

The other thing that impacted me was the pharmaceutical HRT patches. I now use bio-identical ones made from yams, ones which are compounded specifically for my needs, and suit my body far better.

I've not tried that. I do use whey protein when I am lifting, but I'm been too tired and sore for that for weeks now. I don't eat a lot of meat, so probably my protein intake is around 40mg
If you are lifting and not eating enough protein, then you might be getting the double-whammy of putting your body under stress of breaking down muscle and not feeding enough. When women get older we actually need to up the protein due to the hormonal change. I was surprised how little I was eating when I totted up my daily average. Like you I do kettlebells regularly and was constantly tired and stiff. Lots of ways of adding protein that’s not meat- live yoghurt/ pulses/ eggs/ cheese/ nuts.

to be honest no, it goes on easy over my normal skincare. If I am putting makeup on, I wait maybe 10 minutes or so. Wonder if you got a dodgy batch?
It's probably just old. I bought it ages ago, and only tried it recently

ok that's good. I'm glad that my GP is very open to suggestions. He ordered the blood test immediately and added things I suggested to the list of tests. Then again I pay for every test so he does not have to keep within a strict budget. Does your gyn say why she is reluctant to order tests? I mean they're fairly straightforward and don't cost that much in comparison...

they're really nice lipsticks. I got three before Christmas. They have a very satisfying click.
The magnetic case is a very lovely touch - but I don’t wear lipstick enough to warrant any more.

Yes the problem comes from only lightening to the nicotine blonde.
You can lighten all the way to white, however the longer you leave bleach on, the more it will destroy your hair. It’s possible to leave it on to white and then a few days later your hair just starts to break off! I would hope the colourist lifted it as far as possible without hitting the point where it would break.
Using a toner on the greys she had wouldn’t make much difference as she didn’t have many and they were spread out in patches. She can’t dye the greys darker, toning them would act as a highlighter.
Given she can’t use the dyes with the PDD PDT really her only option left was bleach. Personally I would recommend in her predicament trying microlights first.

Those are very similar to my numbers. And not good. Hair loss and other symptoms are a risk until your ferritin is much higher. If you’re in the US with insurance (assumption) can you get an infusion?
My GP has told me my iron is improved, so not a concern  But I know you can have hair loss and other symptoms with ferritin in the 75-100 range. I am going to give these heme iron pills a go for a couple of months, then retest when I see a naturopath about my hormones. Medical doctors aren't much help in this area; my gyn is happy to write prescriptions at least, but she is reluctant to run blood tests, or look at my symptoms more broadly

That sounds lovely. I'm going to get a sample. I'm a sample addict too. My more recent discovery set was Sana Jardin. A few I like from there, though they are a bit heavy on the vanilla for my liking. Any other woody, earthy scents you'd recommend?
I really love A Tiger By Her Side by Sana Jardin.

Woody/Earthy - have you smelled Bois D’Encens by Giorgio Armani? It’s more just woody (and incense obviously). I think it’s great.

l’ll have a think about others, and let you know if anything dawns on me.
