I think she needs to go back home after Oxford, get some proper therapy, and find a job at a friendly place that isn't cut-throat, maybe then she will find herself a way out. I think she should aim to find a housemate like Blakeney and live in London for a bit once she's ready. I think she needs someone to encourage her to go out and about and then she could pivot her Instagram and Youtube to being a 20-something exploring London for art, music, literature etc. She can't live in her bedroom forever.

I don't mean to speculate in ways that aren't appropriate to the rules of Tattle (if this is, let me know please)...but I can't help but wonder about Ruby's feelings for Blakeney.
Ruby seems to be very attached to her, and films her in almost a romantic light in some shots? I've kinda wondered this for years to be honest. Not that their friendship has to be romantic or anything just because they're close, but something about the way that Ruby captures her on video, and describes her...just gets me thinking about if she has feelings for Blakeney, whether she realizes it or not.
I totally got the same vibe, romantic or not, from the way they interact with each other I think they are honestly very close. Ignoring the fact that the trip was gifted and the horrible quality of the video, its almost sweet. Ruby seems to put on less of a persona and seems to genuinely enjoy her time with Blakeney in this vlog.
Do we know what Blakeney does after finishing Exeter? I cant help but wonder if Ruby wouldn't be much healthier if she had stuck with Blakeney instead of running home to her parents and then chasing Oxford.

Jesus christ she tried to invade us again... Leave us alone ruby, we have enough crazy people coming here everyday, we don't need your case in addition.

Made me sad how excited she was when she ate that "tuna" vegan salad and then craving pizza (cheese). She said before that cheese was her absolute favorite food before being vegan. She craves animal food, she should listen to her body and eat them...
Yes. People who want to challenge our nature and really are happy as vegans are rare, most of them are unhappy and frustrated, and end taking their frustration on others. We should listen to our bodies more often. Especially when it's about cheese

You can get why Ruby would like Gilmore Girls. The show is annoying tries to sound smart. They like eating out a lot and the pretending to not have privilege. Plus it fits into her astextic

e-vision is the application portal so she is applying! If she is self funding, applications may still be open...
Gosh, she must have money to burn. People often don't clock that, yes you have to pay your living costs, but you also have to pay the university for the privilege of producing research for them. I don't necessarily think she would get on to a funded dPhil, but self funded? Ποσιμπολ.

As a charitable interpretation of Ruby's silence re:grades, she may well have actually altered her mindset on the topic. She might genuinely just be choosing to not share. The decision to change from "Have a productive week" to "Have more than a productive week" was made, after all. Lest we forget the absolute certainty some members had that she could never possibly get onto a masters at Oxford, when she had.

That's very charitable of me, definitely though.

I'm more surprised that she hasn't already packed up her accommodation and completely moved out.
I imagine it is only for 2 reasons. One, to keep her foothold in Oxford for as long as she can, since she probably won't be returning. Two, because she is still writing her dissertation and needs access to materials she can't take out and bring home. Other than that, the minute she can, she will be back at home, crammed in her tiny bedroom, dreaming of being an author and wondering who and what she really is.

I could see her doing an entry-level admin job at a uni or something like an archivist or volunteer librarian. She needs a job where she can feel comfortable (ie minimal interaction with people) and ease into adulthood. I doubt she'd enjoy a corporate job and she doesn't seem to have the organisational skills and creativity for a art/design job, or even a permanent position as a writer. Though I suspect she's the type to think she's "too talented" for basic jobs and therefore refuse to develop crucial work experience (and tbf many would be the same in her privileged position)
---
I dont know why exactly but i dont think its the same experience
Yup, being a tour guide/tour leader requires regular, sustained interaction with (gasp) the general public, something Ruby hasn't shown a lot of talent for. It'll develop her confidence and museum visitors tend to be a polite bunch (...mostly) so it's not as 'deep end' as working in a bar/cafe, but it's still way out of her current comfort zone. Plus, I highly doubt she'd make stuff up about the locations and artifacts or confuse the guests with ✨impromptu poetry ✨... which wouldn't go down well...

Her NordVPN sponsorship isn't unethical. She clearly doesn't understand VPNs, she's promoting a service, meh whatever. Getting paid to promote some service isn't necessarily unethical: otherwise every ad supported service and website would be unethical.
imo it's unethical to promote a product you don't use and/or don't understand. And yes, a lot of ads on a lot of platforms are unethical. Hence Google's class action lawsuit about using users' data they claimed they didn't retain for things including ads. There's an entire company called Ethical Ads that is commonly seen on websites for python documentation that specializes in showing only ethical ads because it's so uncommon for ads to be ethical.

If she's extremely stressed then I take it her dissertation isn't going well. I also think it's safe to say her experience at Oxford hasn't gone the way that she planned as IMO I don't think she has enjoyed a single minute of it.
Totally. Her, missing a single opportunity to brag about her genius? No, it's not a sudden modesty, it's because she doesn't want to show that she can't keep with Oxford. Exeter was hard but she found Blakeney to help. I'm pretty sure she tried with Holly in Oxford but it didn't work the same way.
Now she's truly alone, even mommy can't save her from the mean master deadline.

And if she fails, she'll make a bunch of short videos with self reflexion, long rants about how failing in the education system doesn't mean you're less intelligent & cie.

Just warching the video now. Can I just say, if you're scared stiff by one e-mail, you'll never survive in a normal job (where you might get not only annoying e-mails but also people ranting down the phone at you!) She's forever going to stay in her tiny wee childhood bubble, isn't she?
---
And nope, the blue porridge just looks mouldy. Food shouldn't be blue. There's a reason why people working in kitchens wear blue plasters: since there's no naturally blue food, they are easy to spot if they ever come off... (source: I worked in a pub kitchen as a student)
It really is pretty scary to see how ill-prepared she is for basic, everyday socializing skills with other people, besides her tiny circle of family and one occasional friend. How is she going to handle co-workers, students, customers, people who come to do work at your home, neighbours, bosses, trainees, employers, employees, etc.? She has zero skills, zero experience, and about to turn 24? She is so disturbing. Her family hasn't done her any favours allowing her to be so childlike and dependent.

That would look lovely if styles correctly (ie no black tights and a decent updo). Is she wearing another top underneath, as to not show a hint of décolletage?
It looks like she's wearing a curtain!

Also, for someone who makes an effort to talk softly and make her content seem calm and gentle the idea of her listening to ai voiced journals whilst walking through forests is kind of jarring.
Not only that, but listening to AI-generated text-to-speech versions of academic papers at double-speed. It's wildly impractical and completely unbelievable on Ruby's part.

I don't believe for a second that she's using this app, much less how she's claiming. There's no way she's listening to complex academic theses filtered through AI with the garbled voice cranked to panic-inducing speed. And if she is, there's no way she's parsing any information from it.

She just shoehorned another sponsor product into an unrelated vlog and lied yet again to make herself seem more productive than she is. The painfully stilted, "I...like that...app... 😐"/"The app is VARRY GYUD" back-and-forth with her and Martha just drives home how fake it is.

What these have in common is that she's not cosplaying as a WW2 orphan. Some people can pull off dressing vintage but it takes a bit of effort to avoid looking like an old lady or a child. Usually you need to style your hair and wear makeup to look chic and cohesive. And she doesn't do that bc it's too grown up for her
Sure, if you're dressing vintage as in dressing for a specific period of history, yes you need to do your hair and makeup, otherwise it looks like you're wearing half a costume (especially if a formal "outdoors" outfit is worn. Equivalent informal wear like house dresses and aprons don't so much have the problem). But if you're dressing vintage as in "old fashioned" as Ruby used to love to call it you don't have to put in half as much effort.

The reason Ruby looks so juvenile in much of her old fashioned outfits are her details. She wears her hair down or only half up the vast majority of the time. It makes her look childish. She would look far more like an adult looking to get business done with her hair up (a bun, or french twist perhaps). She insists upon childish shoes and ankle socks. She often wears modern long sleeve knit t-shirts with older fashioned elements which gives toddler.

Her berets I think typify this.

She’s supposed to be doing a live study with me rn for charity but can’t get the stream to work…
edit: she started another live stream but now the charity link isn’t connected to that one 🙄 how is she so goddamn inept
How is she so bad at her job when she's been doing it for 10 years?

This is very petty but I hated the affected way Ruby said she got some raw mushrooms because she really likes eating raw mushrooms. It's the way she dropped her voice, tilted her head and looked like a little girl explaining something. She's done similar before in other videos and it really irks me. As I say, a petty thing to be bothered about but I guess I am petty!

On a positive note, I'm glad she is continuing to solo travel, she's much better at stepping out of her comfort zone.
