In her stories she also pans to blakeney on their picnic as the lyrics say, ‘the first time that you kissed me’. I wonder if she chose that part of the song on purpose :sneaky:

I'm embarrassed by how much this irritates me. She can't shut her pumpkin hole about dark academia, old world charm, vintage and antiques and everything that screams old money. There is no way she can't learn what to wear to a white tie event. Let's say that she is shit skint, she hasn't two pennies to rub together and this is the one dress she can utilize for the evening - fine. Let's say she can't wear heels or a proper formal shoe due to medical reasons - fine. What she can do for a grand total of zero quid is to fix her fucking hair. She can't even run a brush through that shapeless blanket, never mind style it or put it in an updo of some sort. It looks like someone's deranged relative has escaped her locked room and wandered into the garden party.
It's like she's completely blind to what she looks like and what is appropriate for the occasion or the weather at any given time

I always get the impression that they are squatters in that house. The way they are so messy, negligent, careless with both the interior and exterior part that they "rent" or "own" or whatever it is. You can tell they really don't belong there and haven't the slightest idea how to be fashionable or even take pride in how they represent themselves, their home and their belongings. They literally come across as tramps that snuck into the house, squatted and just hoard things or stash piles of stuff in corners and let them rot. I would be ashamed to have anyone come over to my home if it looked like this. I can't even imagine what it might smell like.

It looks like it might have been the PR manager's dress? In which case, what was she wearing? How quick did this change of clothes happen? Sounds like the story has been exaggerated for effect.
How could we forget… she got this dress in ITALAY with her BAST FRAND!! SO THEY COULD BE TWINS!!

Ruby's decision to immediately deface a rare first edition book that she'll never read while some poor, bewildered French bookseller tries desperately to talk her out of it is both jaw-dropping and yet totally unsurprising.
I could never deface a rare first edition book or any book that I have on my bookshelf as I would feel ashamed that I have destroyed something that clearly meant something to me and if I had any thoughts on a book that I was reading I would either hand write these on a piece of paper or write them down on my computer. The fact that she got the book and then defaced it straight away shows how little she cares about books and that she only buys them to write notes in them.

I doubt she’ll talk about her topic, especially if she’s thinking about a PhD. Ruby reminds me of those people in school who would wrap their arms around their work so no-one could copy them - which is amusing when someone’s nine (or TWALVE) but weird in someone who’s mid-twenties and hoping for an academic career …
It's absolutely ridiculous and just not how academia works at all. It's always a conversation of sorts, where you refer to and build up on the work of others, carrying the research forwards and adding your own thoughts, which then gets quoted and taken further by future researchers. You never work in a vacuum.

If it's been on her wish list for the last 9 months then why has she only just got it now and what does this book have to do with her degree now as I swear the only thing she will be working on this term is her dissertation and therefore it would have been more appropriate to buy it during 1st or 2nd term when she was working on her other modules. By the way I have just been looking at the Amazon reviews for this book and it sounds like from the comments she has been ripped off as a number of people weren't happy with it. Here are some of the comments:

Very poor edition, as you can see Christopher Marlowe's name isn't even spelt correctly on the cover. It's extremely thin, no accompanying footnotes or introduction/background to the text. If, for example you're a student and all you're looking for is the text to highlight and scribble on then this is will be a good buy, other than that it's not going to make a great addition to your bookshelf.

Do not buy this. It is poorly type set, and appears to be a copy and paste from Gutenberg. Very expensive for what it is. Better to spend an extra pound and get a proper copy. It's a rip off.

Print quality is not good at all
I own this book lol and think it's a lovely version.

I'm not sure what people are complaining about in those reviews. Marlowe's Faustus isn't a long play. Gothes version is but Marlowe's really isn't. Also re the spelling of his name. That's his signature lol. Besides that though he couldn't spell for shit and neither could Shakespeare, they made it up as they went along (that's why you have so many new words from them and why old Shaky spelt his own name 17 different ways and others spelled it 80 different ways!) and understandable considering modern English wasn't properly standardised until after they were both long dead so yeah his signature on the front might look a bit weird and like it's spelled wrong but that's just him. Also it's a collectors edition, you don't need notes and you certainly don't buy these to scribble in! EEK!

Do I think she'll read it? Well that's a different matter entirely, but the book itself is fine.

her videos contain less and less actual content, and considering them never had much to begin with this is quite an achievement..

I don’t know if it’s like this at Oxford but doesn’t she live like… 45 minutes away? Surely Oxford gives out Alumni passes (for a fee of course) to get access to the library right?

Get yourself someone who looks at you the way Roobs looks at herself through her phone camera

The outfit...I'm speechless

I wish someone in Ruby's life would advise against outfits like this. Those chunky black shoes don't match with anything else she's wearing. The skirt is so creased, and in combination with the cardigan just makes her look like an elderly woman. Ruby's hair looks totally dishevelled too. I definitely wouldn't be posting a selfie like this on social media.

Confirmation of no Oxford PhD? ‘Leaving’ for summer? Cambridge PhD? 🤔

I would be really surprised if she returns to Oxford to study. She was not at all prepared for her Masters, she took a time period that she isn't even interested in and tried to squeeze a very random and vague subject about female children for her paper. Everything was just to get into Oxford and be able to tick it off her to do list. It was never the Dark Academia place she romanticized in her head. She couldn't hang around and pose for all the pictures she wanted to because everyone was watching her and wondering what the heck she was doing. Childish behaviour in a Masters at Oxford setting do not match up well. Then she was quickly reminded that she was there to actually study and get a degree and ended up exhausted and running home as often as she could. If you enjoyed your uni, you would not be running from it. You would make the most of it during the semester. Not rushing to squeeze books in at the end. I'm sure for every book she has briefly glanced at, she will add it to her 534 books she has supposedly read in 2024. Not the first time, won't be the last. I think, in reality, she wants to get out of there, but there lies the massive hole she has dug. What to do next? Living back at home like a child is so cringe and backward. Everyone knows where her cottage is, so can't live there safely. That is what happens when you overshare. No job lined up in her field of study makes her look like a fool for going as far as getting a master's degree that she will likely never use. My understanding is that Cambridge is even harder than Oxford, so I can't see that happening either. As Oxford originally rejected her for undergraduate studies I think she found the entire experience anti-climatic from the very beginning, even in the way she delayed in telling us that she was going to attend. I have a feeling she wasn't even sure if she wanted to for a while. I expect travelling, quoting poetry, twirling in fields, laying on the ground in a white nightgown, and "my life as an aspiring author" will be the only things she will run with until her parents wise up and kick her out. I can't imagine being 24 and not having a driver's license and car, needing someone to drive me everywhere like a little pathetic adult child, never having worked with customers or on a cash register. Has she ever even babysat an infant or changed a diaper? As someone recently posted, her younger sister Martha is a character, but she has long since surpassed her sister in maturity and experience.

Some youtubers only accept sponsorships from companies whose products they use and whose ethics they value. Ruby seems to accept sponsorships from whoever offers. There is a such thing as an ethical influencer, and Ruby definitely leans toward the opposite end of the spectrum
Ruby seems to take sponsorships that loosely fit her brand. For instance, we've never seen her tout anything like Füm, Raid Shadow Legends (though they offer to everyone and their dog), airup, or Lovehoney (or similar). Someone is doing some filtering here (probably her management). I say loosely, as I NordVPN is hardly relevant, but it can be worked in.

Her NordVPN sponsorship isn't unethical. She clearly doesn't understand VPNs, she's promoting a service, meh whatever. Getting paid to promote some service isn't necessarily unethical: otherwise every ad supported service and website would be unethical.

If she's done Betterhelp sponsorships recently, those are certainly hideously unethical though. Betterhelp is STILL selling confidential medical data. They're still shady AF. I may be confusing her with Unjaded Jade though on this one, as I believe she did a Betterhelp ad read recently enough.

Her other problem is the shady disclosure, which has been a constant point of criticism both here and in her comments. I think she's gotten a bit better, at least with sponsors, but gifted stuff is still often overlooked.

I’ve had a drinky and it must be hitting me harder than I thought, because none of that video makes any sense whatsoever 🥴 I noticed she felt called to get out some of the expensive gym equipment to prove it’s not all rotted away yet, and nearly broke her neck flopping around on the trampoline like the gormless flounder she is. I screenshotted her poem, here you go:

also since I’m here I might as well share that I had a dream last night where Roobee and I were trying to get influencer sponsorships and had to pass tests in order to get the deal - she failed hers miserably, mine was taking care of baby goats and of course I aced it. We then went shopping for a vegan roast to celebrate/commiserate.
Your Blueballs

Sorry I have nothing more meaningful to add

I could personally see her having a stab at teaching, but I can't think she would be very good at it, or it very good for her. Especially with the profession in the state it is. Though, that's in the state sector. She could teach in the private sector (they love people with Oxbridge degrees).

This isn't a jab at her either. Ruby reminds me of myself a couple years ago before I started working full time, and I was glad I didn't go for teaching then. I've developed so much in just having employment and paying bills and stuff. I made the decision because almost all the best teachers I had were career changers.

She could, in theory, go on to work in the university. I know someone who did that after his degree, went on to work in the offices of a college. It would enable her to live her dark macadamia dreams for a while longer. It's not the best paid work, but you're in and around Oxford.

Does anyone else find it interesting that Blakeney now only hangs out with Ruby if it's for some kind of freebie PR event?
