omg Her latest vlog.

1. She starts out with very foreboding music. OMG! Spring flowers and eating breakfast outside! The horror of it all!
2. Flowers, pretty. Her voice and claw, awful. It went downhill from there.
3. Bizarre grin of delight about putting stickers on her ugly planner. Oxford Masters student? About to turn 24? Now that is something scary.
4. Apparently never occurred to her to actually decorate the front of her dull planners with artwork or a design before sending it to the printers.
5. Dresses up like Marion the Librarian, pulling her hair severely back, for her ultimate academic look. Also, the serious look on her face. Playing.
6. "Buttered toast is one of the best food on the planet." Okay. Take all the rest of the food away from you. Let's see how your health survives.
7. Watching her eat like a 2 year old is really getting on my nerves. No one is interested in seeing you bite and chew your food, moron.
8. ANOTHER VPN ad. Woman. Get on with your life.
9. She got the "best seat on the bus, mind you!" Excuse me? Validating our entitlement? Why would anyone even say something like this?
10. She seems to take great pleasure in vlogging closeups of her ugly face. What is her deal? Nothing there worth seeing.
11. Adman stuff. Lots and lots of adman stuff to do. lol Forget the thesis. Adman is more important.
12. Did she just call Silas Marner "Silas Mariner"? omg Oxford Masters student. I can't.
13. Has never read anything by George Eliot and is a graduate in English Lit and loves the Victorian Age? wtf? She really does live under a rock.
14. Cannot speak without flaying about her arms and hands.
15. Is in awe over Post It Notes. Um. Sure.
16. Why is her dorm wall so filthy? What has she done now??

Ruby. Grow up. Get a life. Behave like an adult. Learn how to read, how to pronounce, how to live life outside social media. Learn to drive. Get a job. Gain independence. Do something worthwhile for others instead of being so self absorbed. Learn to eat without filming it. Learn to shop in a bookstore without filming it. Put away your ootd, your phone, your camera. Embrace the very short time you have left at Oxford and build yourself a life worth living. Stop playing at being a child or naive. It isn't cute. It isn't charming. It isn't normal behavior. And it is getting old and disturbing.
A lot of this could be a far more fair criticism if this wasn't her job? Like of course she's doing the Nord VPN sponsorship, she's a vlogger trying to pay her bills. And it wouldn't work if people didn't watch, so...

Of course the seat at the front on the top is the best seat. Seats like that are great. My dad is thrilled to get a front seat on the DLR when he visits.

Rest of it though, yeah you're probably right.

I do wish she would wise up a bit about VPNs though, it's painful how she doesn't understand it. You can also guarantee that she isn't using it all the time, as there are a number of university resources that are only available via eduroam network, so if you're appearing external through your VPN, you can't view them. It's also not a security measure, outside of masking what your traffic is from your ISP (so the university in her case).

Funny that tiktok antiquarian book guy showed up. I think someone mentioned him a while a go as a good example of someone who loves and appreciates old books.

Not sure why she was surprised at that pelican paperback edition of poems being a £5. Just because something is "first edition" and "old" doesn't make it valuable. I owned a first edition copy of The Brain Of Morbius once (terrifying(ly hilarious) cover, look it up) and I got it for a couple quid on eBay. It looks like it may be foxed or something also, as it was terribly discoloured. So, it's probably not worth the fiver she paid for it. I don't know, there's a bookshop near where I grew up that's like a labyrinth (it looks deceptively small) and they have crates of old penguins and pelicans, really not worth too much.

I honestly couldn't believe how many children's books were in that loft it was shocking to see as I was thinking why are earth have they kept so many that they are never going to read.
Same.

I don't understand having that many children's books. Reading to your little kids is so important, absoloutely, but it's a bit like having a huge designer closet for your kids. Pointless. They are going to outgrow it all before they can wear/read it. And even if you could get through it all, the kids gonna decide they like the same three books on repeat and throw a fit whenever you try something different.

What a waste of money and space.

Emma Watson lookalike kid going viral on TikTok and speaking out about the cost of living crisis in the sassiest way.

First Ruby ages another year, now there are young Hermiones popping up everywhere to effortlessly upstage her. She's gonna be crying into her carrot porridge.

I seem to recall during a trip to Paris all her outfits looked a whole lot better apart from the inevitable beret.

I work in an archives and Ruby would love processing - most things come in dusty and haven’t been touched/cared for in ages (kind of like her windowsill, or her house in general!) 😂

But I agree, I don’t think she’d stay long, we don’t get much validation (aside from my boss) as the people who’s files we handle are often no longer alive, and we never really see the people who make use of the materials, and it feels like Ruby only does things for the validation.
I used to work in archiving and I think she’d love the idea of the job but she’d hate the reality/pressure to get things done. You can’t sit and wonder at items you have to just get on with the job and meet deadlines. Obviously different for each workplace but we had to have a certain amount of documents/items filed on the system each day and you’d be quizzed about why you’re not moving fast enough even if you’re trying to preserve something that’s falling apart. Archiving (at least in my experience) is also a small, bitchy and ‘fend for yourself’ type of industry. Very small amount of jobs that a lot of people want and others do not want to see you do well sometimes. I don’t think she would manage that well.

I think she might pull a holly gabrielle and get some youtube work to supplement her random novel writing. They’re all gonna end up working for each other in their network eventually 😂

This is very petty but I hated the affected way Ruby said she got some raw mushrooms because she really likes eating raw mushrooms. It's the way she dropped her voice, tilted her head and looked like a little girl explaining something. She's done similar before in other videos and it really irks me. As I say, a petty thing to be bothered about but I guess I am petty!

On a positive note, I'm glad she is continuing to solo travel, she's much better at stepping out of her comfort zone.
The only people who like eating raw mushrooms are people who enjoy farting a lot. Also TW for ED talk raw mushrooms are one of the things that appear on ”negative-calorie” lists, meaning they supposedly take more calories to digest than they contain, so it makes sense for someone cosplaying an eating disorder to pretend to like them.

I've always felt like the reasoning behind Ruby not sharing the topic of her thesis is twofold. One, because she doesn't want anyone else to steal it and is over protective. She steals from others. She has others do her work, and so she thinks everyone else will do the same. The second reason is because she knows there are a lot of viewers who, as soon as she announces it, will suggest things, books, discuss the topic, and she will see how many who aren't even going for their Masters are far more knowledgeable on the subject and more widely read. It would be embarrassing and certainly humiliating for her to be reminded, yet again, of her failures. As for the circles under the eyes, she looks like she punched herself to make them look weary. I never looked like that. Of course, I didn't waste my uni days running to get cafes and switching around libraries or trying to write a book and take selfies in a lift for social media. I was busy studying across the semester, not waiting to the last moment to clinch a subject and write a dissertation in the last few weeks. I can't wait to hear her litany of excuses of how education and degrees are not important to be a productive human being. Her future is so vague and pointless right now.

I think that Ruby probably relies on the sweets and sweet food for the quick hit of energy that she gets from them. I think that she prefers to 'save,' her calories to eat the sweet and the 'nicer,' foods that she eats during the day. I think that this was a it evident to me with the croissant that she said that she had for dinner in an Oxford video. I am just basing this with my own disordered eating. I am not sure how to explain the unusual food combinations such as the peas in the yoghurt or the cabbage water oats she made.
I am honestly surpriseed that Ruby has not tried or got a sponsership from Huel or any meal replacment shakes. Huel was very bad for advertising to students about how having it will make them more productive as you saved time with cooking. I could easily see Ruby advertising them as a meal on the go to help her productivity, especially since they are vegan ect.

The livestream chat started off well, people talking about Dracula, Dickens and Children’s Novels without spouting off word salad. Majority of posts are about studying with a few confused people who were on the original link waiting for it to happen.

Ruby, there are a lot of people who were on the donation page just waiting for you to start even 40 minutes after 10am, there was nothing on that page to guide to here, we missed it all!

Nice one Ruby

I haven't been keeping up with Ruby in the last couple of months so excuse me for repeating what I'm sure you have all absolutely rinsed her for but

CARROTS IN PORRIDGE????

Also her intonation in this April video is very different to her usual voiceovers.

Edit: Oh okay, she's cosplaying as Lewis Carroll.

i dont understand how ruby has 800k subs and gets so many sponsorships when her editing is still atrocious at least for the intro mute your clips if you're using loud music. In some parts it's the video audio, music and voice over all playing at once. And after all these years film a damn new outro or dont use one at all 😩
I think most of her subscribers are from her peak studytube era during A Levels and early university. But then most of them have (understandably) moved on with their lives and don't watch her content anymore, but haven't unsubscribed (thus the low numbers of views).

Just jumping in to say, thanks to lurking on here for so long I have no idea how to pronounce academia anymore. Tried to say, ‘They would suit a job in academia.’ at work last week and my brain was screaming “ACA-DAY-MEE-A, ACA-DAY-MEE-A, DARK MACA-DAY-MEE-A” I even read it in my head as ‘aca-day-mee-a’. Pronouncing it ‘aca-Dee-mee-a’ just sounds wrong now. I ended up having to say, ‘They would suit a job doing something academic.’

I only have 2 alarms, 1: Weekdays, 2: Saturdays. I delete the random ones.

And I still read whilst brushing my teeth

I think she is slowly fading away from YouTube and social media in general as she doesn't seem to be as motivated as she used to be as she doesn't post as much as she used to. I mean I thought we would get a video last week seeing as it is currently half term but we didn't get anything which is most unlike her as she always uploads a video when it is half term yet this time she didn't which was very odd IMO. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised if she hardly uploads any videos between now and when the course finishes as she is clearly lacking the motivation to upload videos.
I'd actually be glad for her if she does step away from Youtube, she needs therapy and to work on her future goals. Eve Bennet knew when it was time to 'call time' on vlogging, and I respect her for that and she's now invested in her career. Ruby needs to step away from being a social media persona and work on herself.

It is bizarre, but Ruby's been caught doing it before many times.

At Exeter she went on quite a few trips that she claimed were "solo" and did everything she could to hide mummy off-screen. Sometime she succeeded, sometime she didn't, sometimes she gave up half-way through and came up with hilariously flimsy excuses why her mummy needed to be there.

There was her "solo" trip to visit archives in Woking, when mummy drove her there and back, seemingly waited outside the building all day for her and they had lunch together. Mummy just happened to have VARRY IMPWORETANT BUSINESS in the area on the exact day of Ruby's appointment. How ludicrously fortuitous!

There was her "solo" holiday to Devon to visit her "friend", where she neglected to mention that the "frand" was her parents' friends' daughter who also attended Exeter, that they were getting the train together and that Ruby's entire family were waiting in Devon. At no point was she "solo". She apparently forgot to tell mummy to keep up the lie, because while Ruby was bragging in Insta stories about her solo trip, her mum was posting family group photos of the same trip with Ruby included.

There was the "solo" camping trip with Blakeney, where it quickly became clear that her parents were parked in eyeshot in their camper van. I seem to recall she did this again, but tried her best to hide that this other camping trip with Blakeney took place in Ruby's back yard.

I'm sure there's others I'm forgetting. She noticed and became incredibly defensive that people were asking why she was spending so much time away from uni with her parents. Rather than either start committing to staying at uni and cutting the umbilical cord, or just own the fact that she doesn't want to not be near mummy, she got on her soap box to lecture everyone about normalising spending 99% of your time with mummy, while lying about being near mummy 99% of the time.

She's a compulsive liar and it doesn't seem to matter how ridiculous or pointless her lies are, she'll still lie endlessly, especially if she thinks there's a chance it might make her seem more impressive or mitigate criticism.

I'm in camp 'Ruby went to Paris alone' but Ruby's cried wolf so many times about solo trips that I totally get people assuming she went with mummy, since doing that and lying about it has always been her default. Her 'back to uni' vlog is packed with so many hilarious lies and embellishments to try to make herself seem smart and her life seem busy-yet-organised (while offering zero details or updates about her degree) that her having lied about going to Paris alone to try to appear independent and adventurous would be the least shocking revelation ever.
I also noticed that quite a few clips in the Paris video were re-used, or badly edited - clearly to hide that, if she *is* alone (which she seems to have been, this time), she was hesitant to leave the hotel and essentially spent all of her time there reading in her room. Being able to physically travel alone doesn't mean she's mentally comfortable with it... and ngl I kinda pity her. Most people her age would be overjoyed to have so much time and money to spend travelling, but Ruby is unable to enjoy any of it. Worse still, she can't even admit to herself that she's not doing well. Her social media is just an effort to keep up appearances, more for her own benefit than her fans.
