Also a good tip when people come to visit you - get them to make the tea/coffee 😂 you’ll have your hands full with baby so just have everything in easy reach and let people help themselves (and make you a cup of course)!

Yes, get people to do as much for you as possible.

my parents definitely haven’t got this memo 😂 (but I do like seeing them).

I've woken up today to bright red blood when I wipe. I'm absolutely distraught but trying to remain hopeful. I've contacted the maternity services and they have advised me to contact my GP who will then refer me to early pregnancy unit. Praying that it's not a MC. I've tried so long to get pregnant that I don't know what I'd do if this is the end of my pregnancy. I'm 8 weeks today and I understand that miscarriages happen because the baby isn't growing correctly etc but I still can't help feeling devastated. Praying for a miracle at this rate. Sorry for the rant I just needed to get it off my chest.

So glad to hear that this worked. We just don't want to have no time to ourselves and we don't want to have to entertain 🤦‍♀️ sounds lazy but who knows how we will feel after baba arrives.
Yeah you could change your mind and that's fine! You may feel better than expected and want to show baby off to each and everyone 🤣 or you might just want to stay in a newborn bubble and either is fine, family members shouldn't be dictating to you what to do!

No way would I have been hosting all my aunties and cousins at my house, but my mum did all the catering and we just turned up for 2hrs and then left so easier than having a stream of visitors every day and having to make a brew for them. I might ask my mum to do similar this time too but extend the invite to my friends too.

Just a rant about an individuals input on birth, scaremongering saying I might not make it to hospital / if he’s big it’ll be harder / will be lucky to get an ambulance. Do they not realise people take themselves to hospital now??
Why are elderly relatives like this?
Honestly she’s said some nasty stuff a few weeks ago so now I’m not going to pick up her calls anymore.
So bleeping disrespectful when people have severe birth anxiety. I laughed it off on the phone & now I’m thinking about it crying 😡
I need to take it with a pinch of salt but I’m so bloody emotional even the way the cat looks at me sets me off 😂

Honestly, the number of people giving their thoughts and opinions and sharing second hand horror stories when you don't even ask for them... it's cruel! You don't have to engage in those conversations and it's perfectly reasonable to not answer the phone and look after yourself and your mind.

So sorry you've got someone doing this.
I've had exactly the same from the moment we told a relative we were pregnant. They want to know every detail now of my pregnancy and birth plan, which I decided my mental health and wellbeing to withhold. In fact I actually said the other day "I don't want to just talk about pregnancy thank you, I'm more than a pregnant woman". Sounded harsh and witchy but it's how I felt.
If avoiding speaking with them is best for you, then do it. Or make your pregnancy, your birth and your choices a topic that's absolutely not for discussion with that person. And as always rant on here, I know I do.

Thank you both 🙏 It’s such a vulnerable time as it is and I think it really shows those who use it to their advantage to instil fear/project onto you.
I’ve educated myself on what can go wrong & what happens if it does but also what happens if a birth goes to ‘plan’ / normal vaginal without any issues. What will be will be.
I don’t see how they think comments from pregnancies & births in the 60s are of any similarity/help now. Certain things from even 2 years ago have completely changed compared to now!

Thank you everyone for your kind words and support. I'm booked in for a scan on Tuesday so hopefully we'll find out more then. Fingers crossed everything will be okay.

Sound’s thoroughly unhelpful! Like you say, you don’t often need an ambulance to take you to hospital! Is it your first? They usually take a bit a bit longer so I’m sure you’ll have time! My first was fairly quick, 4hours from water breaking and first contraction to baby, but I still would have had time to get down to the hospital without an ambulance! (Sorry I realise that’s also an unasked for opinion haha but just trying to reassure you to ignore her!)

Yep my first! That’s exactly what I thought too, and if he decides he doesn’t want to wait then I have no control over that either 😆 That’s pretty good going! They didn’t want to wait!

Haha no I honestly don’t mind hearing peoples experiences, I welcome them & find it quite comforting 😂
But not when it’s “you won’t be able to birth him! You’ll need an ambulance, you might completely tear or need an emergency section like your mum and gosh she was in hospital ages!” 🫠

I've found pregnancy is the most vulnerable I've ever felt because of everyone putting their opinion across. I've had to tell both sets of parents that their opinions are based on a birth that was 30 years ago. And that their opinions on how to care for a baby are based on that too. Like you say things have changed in 2 years so they've definitely changed from years ago.
I think giving unhelpful advise stems from everyone wanting to be helpful but it's the exact opposite and needs to stop being normalised.

I had the same at 8 and 9 weeks, so totally empathise with how scary it is. I’m sure you’ve already been told this, but kee changing your pad to monitor blood loss - any blood loss is scary when pregnant but this helped to calm me a little when I realised that it wasn’t as much as I thought.

We ended up booking a private scan because we didn’t want to wait for the NHS one when it happened for us. They’re not diagnostic but may be able to offer some reassurance.

💛

I’m almost 30 weeks now and I’ve been having some period style cramps low down all day. I’ve still felt baby moving as normal, and I would say they’re more uncomfortable rather than painful. Is this normal for this stage of pregnancy?

I'd say it's normal, yes.
I've certainly had it

Almost completed my first week of mat leave. My advice to all of you is don’t make too many plans 🙃 although I’ve not been doing much I’ve had something on everyday and had planned to do nothing today but then ended up having to help my mum and run her around as her car has broke, now feeling totally overwhelmed and stressed out this afternoon 😅 I’m going into my office tomorrow for a couple of hours for a company celebration which I’m looking forward to but I’ve said to my husband I don’t want to see anyone other than him over the weekend 🤣

One week till my due date, last day of work tomorrow, truly truly fed up and ready for her to be here 😂 anyone else get to this point and feel like their body has given up? Currently drinking raspberry leaf tea in the hope things could speed along.

In classic Muffin Woman form, a funny story to cheer anyone up… yesterday on the sofa I felt something wet underneath and went OMG something is leaking. My husband went “YOUR WATER BROKE”, it took me about 5 mins to stand up, during which time I was like hmm, so waters break out your a and up your back. Turns out I was sat on a hot water bottle that had exploded and I hadn’t realised 🤷‍♀️

Happy last day of work for tomorrow! I hope your day is easy 😅 I haven’t actually tried any of the tricks to help things along, I had planned to try dates but having GD means I’m not allowed them 🙃😂 I did have 2 when my husband brought some but you’re meant to have about 7 a day I think which I just won’t be able to tolerate. Is the tea nice?!
oh no 😂😂😂 hope you didn’t burn yourself on the hot water bottle!! X
