Guys I did it, miniFun showed up at 4:35am - I am beyond besotted and very f*cking tired.

they broke my waters at 5pm, my contractions did really well but they weren’t massively happy with my rate of dilation so they put me on the drip (I made them give me another hour to see how it went before they did it) they said they’d examine me at 6am. I was pretty much surviving on pain relief paracetamol and tens machine, I asked for diamorphine but they wouldn’t give it to me as they lost contact on the EFM with her a few times and said it could send her to sleep so might be dangerous for her. They really pushed the epidural which I didn’t want but I couldn’t cope with the pain any more around 3:30-3:45am so I said I’d have it. Then I asked if I could go to the loo and they unclipped me, turns out it wasn’t the loo I needed, my body was trying to push, so the midwife got me back on the bed to examine me and the anaesthetist arrived in the room - and basically stood very awkwardly as the MW realised i was going to have the baby- so he must have felt like a right spare dinner. Anyway, we made it, I got my VBAC I wanted, surprised myself tbh…. Now I have a brand new baby girl to look after 🥰

Baby WC arrived this morning at 7am after a very long time trying various things! I’ll write a post about our birth experience if people are interested but will put it behind a spoiler when I do. On the ward now and enjoying the snuggles (even though we’re having so issues with feeding atm).

Happy birthday little @WeHadFunRight!

Baby Luisa also made his arrival at 07:29 this morning by CSection. Spinal blocks are the bees knees. Baby boy is doing well and a fat little preemie at 4lbs10oz at 32+6. On a little oxygen and some fluids but otherwise well at this moment. Just resting for a bit and then desperate to get over to NICU to see him.

Happy Mother’s Day 💛💛

After spending the last four Mother’s Days thinking ‘maybe next year I’ll finally be a Mum’, I’m sat watching my baby wriggling around in my tummy and knowing he’ll be in my arms next year.

I've woken up today to bright red blood when I wipe. I'm absolutely distraught but trying to remain hopeful. I've contacted the maternity services and they have advised me to contact my GP who will then refer me to early pregnancy unit. Praying that it's not a MC. I've tried so long to get pregnant that I don't know what I'd do if this is the end of my pregnancy. I'm 8 weeks today and I understand that miscarriages happen because the baby isn't growing correctly etc but I still can't help feeling devastated. Praying for a miracle at this rate. Sorry for the rant I just needed to get it off my chest.

Morning ladies. 32 weeks and my waters have gone and am 3cm. Absolute shocker and a bit scared. In good hands on the labour ward and in a “wait and see” position at the moment. 🙁 Pack your hospital bags as I hadn’t!

Not sure if I’m asking for advice or reassurance but here goes…
At my midwife appointment on Friday she booked me in for a sweep at 40 weeks and an induction at 40+5 (currently 38+2). The induction is based on new NICE guidelines about how it’s (slightly) safer to be induced at 40+5 instead of 41+5. However, she said it’s completely my choice, I can ring up the day before and ask that it’s pushed back a week if I feel like it. I really have no idea what’s right if I don’t go into spontaneous labour before that. My gut feel is to go for the 40+5 induction- I don’t trust my body, and I like statistics and evidence, so to me that’s reassuring. Also, I have the most horrendous sciatica, so bad the midwife took pity on me and gave me a few days’ worth of codeine it’s that bad.

I’ve been speaking to friends who have had babies and they’re all acting really preachy which surprises me, as they’ve mostly been pretty good about not giving unsolicited advice. One even said that horses have a 15 day window to give birth which is natural?!?!! Another said they’re probably trying to pressure me and cover themselves by giving me a load of “scary stats”.

not sure what the point of this is, and no judgement for anyone who decides anything else, it’s my first baby and as the birth gets nearer I’m getting more worried because I ultimately just want her here safely. Also had to deal with my MIL who doesn’t speak much English saying “no c section right???” 🤦‍♀️ I’ll have a c section if it means my daughter gets here safely, honestly dealing with everyone’s opinions is so overwhelming.
BabyVeryTraditional was born yesterday at 40+7. We had a sweep on 40 weeks, then another on 40+3 and 40+5, induction at 40+6. Like you the hospital were very much letting us decide whether to go ahead with the induction on the new guidelines or wait
and we decided to go for it (although I was 3cm dilated with a very soft cervix after the sweeps which helped make our decision as obviusly my body was preparing for it) I honestly think you just need to do whatever makes you feel safe and ignore anyone’s judgements.

Best of luck! Xx

Hi everyone! I’ve progressed from the TTC thread and will be 5 weeks tomorrow with my first pregnancy. I got a positive test the day after my husband provided a sample for analysis as we’ve been trying for quite a while.
Just getting used to all the strange sensations, but also trying to take each day as it comes as I’m very worried about the risk of MC due to my age (35) and BMI over 30.
We’ve got an early scan booked at 7+1. I’m way too much of a control freak to wait until 12 weeks 🫢
I am going to ring my GP tomorrow to refer to maternity dept and I suppose cancel our fertility referral? Not sure if I should mention that just in case something happens and we still need it, then we’d go to the back of the queue.

Had an early scan yesterday as reassurance and saw a heartbeat ❤ symptoms continue being strong as well so feels a bit more real but will still feel better once I’ve had the 12 week scan. I thought I was 7 weeks or so and they’ve measured at 6 weeks 4 days, which has confused me because I’m pretty sure I know when I ovulated but never mind - healthy baby so far so keeping my fingers crossed 🤞

28 weeks today! My apps are welcoming me to the third trimester, one even saying “you’re going to meet your baby this trimester”

As a first timer safe to say I am crapping my pants!

After my unsuccessful sweep on Friday I’ve just had my second attempt and I’m relieved to be 3cm - 4cm dilated with waters that are very close to breaking. I’m so excited now but also terrified xx

Well we’re home after being discharged. Just a waiting game now! We’ve ordered some preemie stuff which is an odd experience but I’m feeling better having the chance to go home and try and repack a hospital bag and prepare some baby stuff. Hopefully can get a good nights sleep too.

Hope you’re all doing well

Just found out I’m pregnant 😲 typing this doesn’t seem real?? I’ve always wanted to be a mum and so excited to be pregnant but I still refuse to believe I’m any older than 18 let alone responsible for a child 😂

found out this morning and have been manically researching since, told my partner and the lazy lump just went back to sleep 😂 honestly don’t think it registered with him so we’ll see what he says when he wakes up hahah

Hi everyone,
I've been TTC for quite some time now and AF is due today. I decided to take a pregnancy test this morning and had a very faint line. I did another one this evening and had another faint line similar to this mornings. I'm hoping this is it and I'm not just getting my hopes up again. It's very early days so I've ordered a clear blue test (the ones that tell you how many weeks you are) and hopefully I can go from there. What confuses me is that I saw an online due date tracker when googling to see if this could be a false positive and I filled in the dates and it says I'm 4-5 weeks pregnant but surely that can't be right? I'd assume 1-2 weeks. It's my first ever positive result so I'm quite overwhelmed/excited/anxious - all the feels. I really hope this is it 🤞

Hope all is ok @Luisa18 xx
Thank you - just spent the night on the antenatal wars (12th circle of bell hell - bring earplugs and noise cancelling headphones
if any of you need to be admitted 😫) which was quite stressful. I’m finding it tough coming to terms with what’s happening and the “it’s not fair” feelings so being around early labouring women wasn’t fun. I also am mourning the birth I had planned and the first few days and weeks afterwards which are going to be very different now. I know I am being unreasonable and feeling a lot better after getting some sleep and a cup of tea.

I’m sort of torn how to proceed (or the illusion of proceeding - aware I am not the driver of this trip! Statistically baby has best chance the longer it stays in and would dream of getting to 37 weeks but there are risks around this and the mental load of keeping it safe up to that point.

The alternative is delivering at 32+x or any time in the next day, week, or month which for someone who likes to control situations is a nightmare. Also the stress of delivering a premature baby and all that comes with that. I myself was 28 weeks when I was born so I have unique experience already with this, and it’s not something I wanted for myself. But at least baby would be here, safe and in the care of medical professionals… I’m just so torn and very stressed over what happens next.
I guess next steps are to speak to the doctors when I can today and understand why this happened (I think I had an infection in my vagina as a result of thrush - long story) or a mixture of other risk factors I’ve mentioned before on here and what the plans are for the next 12/24/48 hours. My hospital seems to operate 48 hour observation but I worry there’s a risk they’ll want to admit for longer which I want but also don’t want as the ward is such an anxiety thing for me.

Sorry this is a massive mental dump. I’m just very scared and emotional. Looking forward to my husband coming up this morning. Hug your bumps and families close xx

Any advice on what’s reasonable. My husbands mum and auntie are both expecting us to go visit them within the first few weeks of baby arriving…. One lives 115 miles away and the other 90miles away opposite directions so would need two seperate trips.
We are having a c section so not sure how comfortable I’ll be to make the trips and how it would be with a new born!
There’s no real reason why either couldn’t come to us, both not working so have the time.
