I can relate to people asking very personal questions that ordinarily you'd never dream of asking. Someone (with no experience) asked me if I'd been doing perennial massage recently and started telling me I really should start... why would I want to talk to anyone about that!? I'm hoping for an elective c section for reasons I won't go into, and I've already decided if anyone asks me about my plan I'll just say we've got a plan we're happy with and that we've considered everything. It's nobody else's business and I refuse to get into an unproductive conversation about something so personal! It feels so vulnerable doesn't it?
Wtf!!?? 🙈🙈🙈 people are so odd

Had our last scan today and feels like such a relief. The time between 20-35weeks has felt so long!!
I know estimated weights can be far off but he’s currently over 6lb which fills me with relief that he’s growing well, so even if he comes out smaller than his estimate of 8-8.5lb I can relax over the next few weeks that he’s doing ok 😅🤞🏼

Also not sure if everyone’s hospital does it but they offered more pre-eclampsia testing where they test your eyes, blood pressure & blood to see if you’ll be high risk between 37wks - 12wks after birth.
I found it pretty incredible how they can do this! And signed up for all the research testing so hopefully it can help future mums & babies 🙏

I might be overthinking this but can I ask for some advice?
I work in a school and always said I’d ideally take maternity leave a week or so after we come back from the Easter holidays (so have the holidays, maybe come back for 1-2 weeks then go on maternity leave). This was because I wanted the most possible time with baby so wanted to save my leave for the end. However I’ve since worked out that Easter falls at the same time next year and I really don’t want to return any later than just after we come back from Easter (just for ease of transition with classes) so I’m not actually gaining anything by coming back for a couple of weeks after the Easter holidays before starting maternity leave. I’m also knackered, sick of work and just want to go.
I’ve already given the official start date of my maternity leave as the first day back after Easter, under the proviso that “it can be flexible” but knowing in my mind that I absolutely don’t want to come back. My manager made a comment today along the lines of “oh well you might be here after Easter!” And I just didn’t know how to say “oh actually no I won’t” without sounding like a right head.
Is anyone good at wording emails to management? How could I say that I will definitely not be returning after the Easter holidays?

I'd probably suggest something like "thank you for your flexibility around me choosing the start date of my maternity leave. Due to the level of physical discomfort and fatigue I'm feeling in later pregnancy, I have now decided that my maternity leave will officially start on [date]; please could you confirm that my maternity pay will commence from this date?"

I'm glad you feel able to finish sooner and can put your feet up for longer 🙂

Those of you who have had babies before, what’s the situation after for clothes/bump? Like are you likely to be in your maternity leggings for a while after? Maybe a stupid question just not sure what to pack for coming home lol

So you will still have a tummy that looks pregnant for a while (depends on the person for how long, with my first it was about 2-3 weeks) buts it’s softer and squishier. I actually never stopped wearing my maternity tights and leggings because I grew accustomed to having them tucked into my bra 😂

I managed to squeeze into a pair of pre pregnancy cycling shorts but my husband did bring those up after I’d given birth. To be honest though I do still wear my maternity leggings now at 7m PP cos those bad boys wash so well and still look brand new 😂 I packed some maternity leggings and then a pair of drawstring joggers in a size bigger so that I could tie them tighter if needs be. My tummy went to jelly straight away and I didn’t really have a ‘bump’ I just looked bloated x

My friend was saying she lived in her maternity wear after her baby as it was just more comfy! I’ve packed some tracksuit bottoms to come home in which I know fit me currently (due in 2 weeks), they’re also black 🫠🤣 this is my first baby too and I’m getting to the point where I have 1 outfit which I can wear out of the house and a couple more bits for lounging in, unsure if it’s worth buying anything now or just holding out 🤣

Maternity wear all the way once the baby is here - ultimate comfort. I still had quite a bump for a couple of weeks afterwards I think but I did have a c-section so not sure if it would go down quick after a natural birth. But honestly even when my bump did go down, I wore my maternity leggings quite a lot if I was just staying in the house with baby.

For coming home I packed a baggy tshirt + choice of joggers or leggings - ended up wearing the leggings

Just over 7 weeks later I’m still wearing my maternity leggings 😂 it’s a mix of comfort and laziness, I have been meaning to dig out my pre pregnancy clothes and work out what might fit me again but haven’t found the time or energy to want to do it
Also have found myself living in the large underwear I got for post birth too 😂 it’s just so comfortable lol

For those who have given birth before and used the pool/plan on using the pool- silly question but what did you wear? I’m thinking of possibly starting off in the pool early (if possible!) on for my back but not giving birth in there. Do I get some sort of pregnant lady bikini? Swimsuit? Like I say I don’t want to give birth in the pool and my mum will be my birthing partner and has strict instructions to stay by my head so want to avoid flashing her if possible 🫠

I’m planning to just take a bikini. I know I probably won’t need/wear it as I won’t care by that point, but I’d rather have it in my bag just in case.

When I thought I had a chance at a pool birth I just packed a bikini top - so just pack something you’ll be comfortable in in the water. It’s your birthing experience.

I did not plan well for it ahead, so I just got in wearing my bra, but that was fine. Pack a bikini top or a comfortable tshirt/bra you don't mind getting wet.

I had a spontaneous water birth so had no plan in my head for what to wear - I remember wearing a nightie and I just pulled it off as I climbed in the pool and was naked. I wasn’t bothered at the slightest at the time!

I plan on wearing a sports bra into the pool. Something that's comfortable and not restricting and can allow skin to skin

I'm hoping to use the pool for pain relief (and potentially birth), and I bought myself a bikini top as I didn't have any that fitted, and then I found some cheap high waisted maternity bikini bottoms at Asda because I wasn't sure what the etiquette was around whether to be covered or not if I was just in there in the early stages 😂

ETA: these are the cheap bottoms I got just in case 🙂 https://direct.asda.com/george/wome...r2P6Ly1hjvmx8iW82KhoCD_MQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Thanks everyone, I might just buy a bikini top that fits (the girls have gone up two cup sizes 😂) and maybe wear a pair of underwear, or those high waisted ones look good, and given my due date is next week can always send them back if I don’t use them!

Anyone get sudden pains that come & go in their pelvis 35wks+?
I can’t tell if I’ve just overdone it a bit today or it means something. Last week he was 2/5 engaged and at the scan Monday extremely low but he feels a lot lower now.
Could it just be him getting comfy moving lower? (From others experiences!)
I’m not majorly worried just takes me by surprise every now and then!
