Did anyone find the ending of Derry girls quite poignant considering all the goings on and talks in the country now? Seems like ye have come so far, but not far at all in some ways.
On a side note the final episode was also actually SHITE other than the GFA part at the end, I’m so upset that such a good show had such a crap finale 🤣🤣
The end was the only good thing about it ,I don't rate it tbh just some of the characters ...No surprise about the GFA we've been going round in circles for decades 😂

Plus it brings all the freaks out of hibernation

Ah no I loved it, sad to see it go 🤣. I’m a big fan of Ian McElhinny in it. I think I’ve a crush, shame I’m too old to be a sugar baby 😉😜

Haven’t seen the last episode yet but as someone who grew up in Derry and went to an all girls school I swear a lot of it is like a documentary and I’m pretty sure Michelle is based on my sister 🙈🤣

That’s a big increase and mostly in deprived areas
I wonder is it becoming more prevalent due to something or are they just getting better at diagnosing it? I know a few adults recently went through a lot of appointments privately to get their diagnosis as an adult for autism and also adhd and they both said they wished they had of had that diagnosis as a child to have the right support for them and they look back thinking how their life could have been so different in perhaps a more positive way where they felt more supported and helped.

The support that’s in place currently just isn’t enough I have a friend who has a child with autism and the fighting she has had to do is just insane. Every step of the way too I feel so helpless for her because she always has to go knocking repeatedly for anything and with so many more people now the support will be even further stretched.

It's a long drawn out process .I think my sister had to wait nearly six years for an official diagnosis for her son and he's at the severe end of the scale.

Omg almost 6 years that’s horrendous!! I hope he’s getting good support now! It’s just awful how many children are suffering and it’s so worrying the lack of availability in specialist schools too because mainstream school just isn’t an option for a lot of children with autism. My friend got her wee boy into a special school and the waiting to hear if he’d been placed was keeping her up all night I think they only let her know a couple of weeks before he was actually due to start because she was worrying all summer if he was going to get a place anywhere!! These children deserve more.

He attends a special school ,before the pandemic they also had help where someone took him out for a few hours 3 days per week so they could get a break and do something with their other two boys, we can’t really look after him ( family) as he’s non verbal and gets stressed really easily so he needs specialist carers if my sister and her husband need a break , they haven’t had that support from the pandemic started ( for obvious reasons) but it’s really hard having a child with complex needs especially in these times .I’m sure your friend will need all the support she can get and so will her child ,it’s such a difficult situation when you’re going it alone and nobody to advise or guide you...Another reason we need a working executive without it these children suffer along with their families.

I know they’re working on our abortion bill to get things in place asap but the Catholic Church is imploding in the US
