It's not a slow running body of water and that has been reported repeatedly. It's got a very fast undercurrent. She's probably in the sea by now so sadly it may well be weeks she's found.
Someone said it was slow atm sorry .. I think it was the person I replied to who seems to be local... so I surmised that she would be compromised by slow moving water and would be found sooner.

No but the Nicola’s phone, the harness and Willow were near to the bench. So either Nicola was nearby, or someone else put them there, it’s why I asked about how near that camera would’ve been to the bench.
I wonder if they were put there as a red herring.

What do we need at the start of the next thread?
  • Nicola parked at school as usual and started the walk from there
  • The photo of the river bank
  • Map showing location of sightings of Nicola
  • Phone, harness and lead were found on or near the bench
  • Willow was dry so hadn’t been in the water - any dog owners will know that this does not mean that she did or didn’t see Nicola in the water. It simply means that the dog did not go in.
  • Willow wasn’t wearing her harness and that was normal on a walk, it was usually removed along with the lead
  • They didn’t usually take a ball
  • The FB post from the family friend
  • Partner has never been a suspect
  • Police have been clear from the beginning that this is a missing person enquiry
  • Family are keeping all possibilities open in the hope of Nicola’s safe return which is understandable
  • This link https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/everything-know-nicola-bulley-desperate-26150457
  • If Nicola has somehow fallen into the river, it is likely to be some time until her body is found. The undercurrents are strong and the water there is dangerous - as signage at the bench already showed - and the depth reaches ~18ft at high tide.

I'm so sorry, I've read my post back and it sounds really snippy. It wasn't meant to be!

Early on the police made mention of how dangerous the river is. It might look slow but it isn't if that makes sense. That's only what I've read as well though. It's not an area I'm familiar with.

I think part of the issue in this case is that the police/media link hasn't been as strong as it would be in a suspected abduction/murder situation so there are a lot of conflicting statements.

I posted this yesterday but a man went missing in November near the river where the X is on the map and was found in the river where the circle is. It’s only a mile and a half as the crow flies so maybe 2-3 mile stretch of river but it took them over two months to find him and if that is as far as he got then it was either slow moving and/or his body was trapped. It doesn’t surprise me they have not found her yet if she is in the river. I don’t know the ins and outs of why but it seems it can be very complex.

No problems at all.. I get in trouble all the time for my directness and sarky sense of humour x
Yes I understand these tides and currents and cold zaps the strength out of people...
Not that I'm changing my mind ..mind you...I'm still determined to bring someone to justice for this lady !!!

Not sure if anyone has already said this but just in case they haven’t….

Willow was found near to the bench agitated.

Nicola and her partner’s home have CCTV, which would have ruled her partner out, along with him answering the call about Willow being found, which the police could also use to verify his whereabouts.

Last year the son of an Indonesian politician drowned in Switzerland. It took two weeks until his body reappeared about 2 kilometers from where he had disappeared.

Would the dog not have followed her partner if he had showed up?

It's still one of the things I find hardest about chatting on a forum. People can't see your facial expression or hear your tone! I'm quite sarcastic too and I've discovered I deliever statements sometimes that seem dreadfully blunt when they were meant conversationally 😅.
I think we disagree on the potential outcomes of this case but thanks for being so friendly x

Her poor kids. How confusing to have Mummy drop you to school as usual and then just disappear and no-one even be able to tell you where she is. It’s difficult enough for adults to process, let alone a small child. Absolutely awful. I hope they’re accessing the full range of emotional support available to them; they’ll need it.
