Try not to worry - they may not have had chance to read/respond yet, or maybe waiting to speak to someone about how best to respond. Hopefully you'll hear something soon but if not at least you know you did everything you could 🙂

Rug update!! We went to a local independent carpet shop that I got baby bandit's bedroom carpet from and shared my dilemma about comfort vs allergies, and the lovely man was SO helpful and knowledgeable and talked us through all our options and his suggestions for what would work best in a large space with a baby. We ended up buying a carpet offcut (1.75 x 2.2m) for £40, and paying to have it edged to turn it into a rug because that's apparently a big thing nowadays to get a bigger rug/custom size for much cheaper - who knew?! We bought an anti-slip thing for under the rug and all in it was about £140! We have to wait 2 weeks for it to be sent away to be edged and I'm gutted because I want it now 😅 so happy to finally have that task ticked off the list though!
That’s genius!

I finally heard back from the job I applied for 3 weeks ago - didn't even get an interview 🫠 Normally I'd be gutted but, weirdly, I almost feel a bit relieved? I think I've made my peace with going back to my current job and all the shite it entails. 100% asking for a pay rise when I get back though as I've found out my "replacement" is on 5k more than me, the cheeky fuckers.

The sooner there’s more transparency in pay the better.

Sorry about the job but I'm glad you're feeling ok about it. That's bleeping outrageous about the pay though, how is that even acceptable?!! Do they not have to do like for like if it's the exact same role?! Absolutely campaign for a pay rise when you return!!

Not to go all HR but as pay is one of my specialisms, it can be more complicated… but absolutely ask for a pay rise.
I’ve worked places where they would be so good at it, and I’d be constantly reviewing against market data and things like job adverts and people would be given pay rises because we knew that they should be getting it. Other places…. You don’t ask, you don’t get. So absolutely ask for it!
And separately, I think there’s a little less pressure if you go back to the place you worked before. So you can get into the swing of working life and everything that comes with having children and then when you get settled in a routine etc, is a good time to look! You’ll remember what you do enough to interview 😂🙈 xxx

So nervous about tonight. Little ones gone to sleep at 6.40pm!! Earliest she's gone down ever!!!! But she was at nursery today and her naps there are shocking.
Fingers crossed she sleeps through, because after a day looking after KW who has a stomach bug, typically on my leave from work, I'm not feeling being awake all night.

I found with 2 of mine, that earlier nights were better. My middle one would go to bed at 6PM!

I hope your first day back at work went well @themuffinwoman! ❤
Thank you! It was fine- I’m wfh this week so it’s been “relaxed”, and MM has a blast at nursery (including getting an accident report for bumping her head), so it’s been a rollercoaster! I feel the need to decompress though, I’ve been on the go since 6:30 and also walked the dogs before starting work so I’m knackered. How are you? How’s it been with the in laws??

This tiny, beautiful, and content baby… sitting in the dark fiddling with a random pair of her nursery leggings she’s found when she’s meant to be asleep………. 🫠

Okay I literally typed this and hit post and she turned and cuddled me and fell asleep 🥺

My new manager at work emailed me today and I feel a bit better about going back. Still want the other job, but this lady is proper old school, salt of the earth Mum type and she's very supportive.

I'm so glad it went well, and a week of WFH is perfect for easing back in! You definitely deserve to sit quietly and let all the chaos of the day drain away - I hope MM sleeps well so you can rest! I'm ok thanks, having the in-laws here has been really helpful but also exhausting because I'm still carrying the mental load of making sure he drinks/naps at the right time and suggesting how to cheer him up when he's grumpy, but also busy tidying the house/going to shops etc and haven't got my usual respite of sitting quietly while he naps, so I'm bloody shattered! But we've got loads done which is great, and we sorted through a load of stuff in his room and packed away his old clothes which was quite emotional! I got quite tearful when the in-laws left today (they go home tomorrow morning) because baby bandit is going to really miss them, but also I felt so exhausted and got sad about how I'd find the energy to manage with no childcare in sight. Still tired now but feeling a bit better!

It’s weird, I felt like I did before I was pregnant (I was constantly knackered) like the “old me”, but with crying when they sent me updates on her 😂
I freaked out because it was the 5 mins I didn’t have my phone on me so had various alerts, app updates, a voicemail etc and was like OMG. She’s all good though, the first of several bumps I’m sure 🙈 xx

That’s good you got a lot done- can you get an early night tonight? Packing up their small clothes is emotional! In a year they change so much 😭 I’m sorry you feel down about them going, do you have a date for them to come back? When is Baby Bandit starting nursery? Could he go a few weeks early to give you some time? (Which I thoroughly recommend anyway, I wouldn’t have coped half as well as I did today if it was her first time in nursery and I was worrying).
I actually think I’m coming down with something 😭 or I’m shattered from the day. Oh and apparently conjunctivitis is going round her class 🥴

Urghhhh it’s been 4 weeks since going back to work and im finding it so hard and exhausting juggling everything. I feel bad that I hardly get time with my boy in the evenings as it’s dinner bath then bed. But then I’m spending another hour or so afterwards doing our lunches for tomorrow, cleaning my pump parts and just general tidying. He didn’t fall asleep until 8.30pm last night so I had no down time at all 😭 hoping that this feeling of exhaustion goes away

I've done it before but she woke up at 3am & just wouldn't settle again. Praying it doesn't happen again because I like my sleep 🤣
She's been asleep since I put her down though & I know nursery said she was on the go all day so fingers crossed they've worn her out enough for a full sleep.

I went to bed at 10pm which is unheard of for me, I just felt so tired and dizzy so escaped to bed as soon as I'd finished making his next few formula bottles! I don't know when they're due back, the next thing we've definitely got booked is us going to visit them in mid-May, but they've said to keep them posted about when my dad goes in for his op (due to be soon but date TBC) as they can come and help out if I'm spending more time with my parents. Baby bandit starts nursery 3rd June and I've had confirmation from HR that my return date is 15th July so I'll have plenty of time to rest/get some time to myself then!! I hope you and MM are sleeping ok and that you're just tired and not ill!
