Thank you to the detective who found it!! Interesting - can see the location is lovely and it has potential but it looks a very strange layout and a real mix of styles. I hope they dont knock down and rebuild. It would be great to see how they manage to make a nice home out of what looks to be a bland box. I'm thinking they might set aside part of it as a venue - holiday let/local events/meet up venue? It's way too big for a family home. I hate the way she has strung it out - and annoyed at myself at how many times I've checked for updates!!
It keeps us coming back. She’s very clever. Giving little bits of it in small clips. Keeps us coming back.

I’m a little behind & only just seen SJ’s announcement of her moving so I quickly came here to find out the goss.

I’ll be honest when I read her post regarding her having a bad year my first thought was that Hubby had lost his job and they’d sold the house to release a big chunk of equity and had chosen to downsize to save some cash & renovate slowly. However the £2.25M purchase price of the new pad means that can’t be right; if it was on the market for some time they could have gotten a sizeable amount knocked off the price.

Anyway back to the husband, checked LinkedIn and it seems he moved jobs 11 months ago- didn’t SJ say this was ongoing for 11 months? Had another google search and it was actually reported in November 2019 that he was leaving Barclays after less than 2 years there- big no no in a senior role such as his so it makes me think what happened there. It could be that he got a big payout on his departure which Barclays refused to comment on so there must be bad blood. He’s now taken a MD role at Citi Bank so lord knows how much he’s on!
That is a big no no! I wonder what happened?

I don’t think it’s anything more than he’s in a very specialised job and was headhunted. I think he featured in a business mag a few years ago as a “rising star”.
Yep I read similar articles that implied he was headhunted and ones in which Citi Bank seemed that his moving to them quite a coup for them!

Anyone follow her on Pinterest? If you scroll past all the narcissistic pins of herself there seems to be a fair few ideas recently for ‘home design inspo’ that would point to the demolition of the new house theory being correct. Very very different to the old house. Similar colour scheme though...snore.

50 shades of grey again with a hint of grey?

Wonder much her own house sold for. ?? Any ideas?
I am not that familiar with that part of Hertfordshire but I would imagine somewhere in the region of £1.6-1.8m. It isn't the biggest property based on floorpans (c. 2400 sq. ft. and only 4 beds) and the layout is a bit odd, especially downstairs, but it was presented nicely (crowd-pleasing but unimaginative) and has some nice features (e.g. Tom Howley Kitchen) plus a small paddock.

Surely the new place is a knock down and rebuild project, is awkwardly laid out and hideous - only so much you can polish a turd.

What exactly does he do to earn such big bucks at relatively young age? Whatever it is I’m sending my hubby to retrain to do the same thing 😂😂

He’s in his 40s. Plus he would’ve been in banking pre recession so would’ve had the luxury of very big bonuses.

My guess long drawn out “plan” (years) while funds are collated to start....it will be a big project if done right. It will need to be padded out for sure so ssome key freebies... (shared for “our” benefit) and a couple of showy ostentatious changes to give illusion of progress. Howley anyone?

nothing wrong with ambition or having to save for that matter - but it will be dressed up in secrecy, complexity and “complications” to create the sense of drama. Nothing as it seems I would guess.

personally I just find the “big big big” declarations quite unappealing, nouveau and slightly awkward. I get it is all about the show but...could sincere excitement not just be enough?

I agree talent in any industry will always be sought after and poached by competitors.
Yes you’re right and he’s probably approached by many each year but regardless at that sort of level you don’t jump ship (to quote a finance article) after less than 2 years unless of course it was an offer only a fool would turn down which would explain the £2M house

It’s going to be a long drawn out process to produce another boring new build like just a little boring Berkshire build. They all merge into each other they have zero originality. For all her alleged money and class SJ has little style. Their old house was ‘nice’ but basic. Yes designer kitchen but bedrooms bland and basic no flair. Boring bedrooms with standard Ikea furniture. (Nothing wrong with that ). I would expect imagination and flair. At least style the clutter has a beautiful home of character dressed in style. Not cardboard cut out catalogue house. She will have to knock it down no way does she have the skill to polish that turd.

Why on earth is she showing that old kitchen/living room when there’s a perfectly nice modern one next door... the mind boggles. Also what’s the need for 3 kitchens in 1 house. Literally the house that jack built, it’s all over place 🤮

I wonder if they are living in one half only? Looks like it doesn’t all join up especially upstairs so would make sense
