nonononono my own anxiety couldnā€™t take the preamble on the other one and now Iā€™m too nosey not to try this one too

edit to add - no one else introduces themselves like this!? Hi itā€™s me Alansbigplate; tattler, depressive, mum, partridge fan
I had to fast forward through all that šŸ˜¬ When I finally got to the singing bit, the 30 seconds I could bear to listen to was....not bad

Don't you need some serious structure in a tortilla? Otherwise it's just a fluffy baked omelette.

Why does she insist on doing 'things that scare' her publicly? Singing on YouTube, being tit at cooking on the telly - maybe just work on those things in private and once she's better present it to her audience. Each and every person is insecure in their own way. It is not unique or quirky or endearing like she thinks it is.

Constantly announcing it prior to then doing the thing she's not good at does not make her singing or her presenting any better. It only alerts the world to the fact she's done nothing to improve.

Iā€™ve bloody made it! Finally!

I found you all when googling to see if she and Mrs J has split up (I guess I missed the ā€œshe leftā€ comments). Quite stunned to see my own views being mirrored by so many others, from Twitter I thought I was the only one who was sceptical about her..

I came along at about thread 30 so just in time for Jackā€™s entrance on tattle. Mind boggling to say the least.

Thank you for your kindness and being welcoming to all us newbies. It took a while to get the injokes etc, but it has never felt cliquey. And youā€™ve literally made me laugh out loud with FANCY etc. Itā€™s too good! Thanks for all the laughs I look forward to many more

I love this podcast too, the conversations are always so interesting!
On my dog walk I also listened to Jason Isaacs very funny, and Jessie Ware who I find a bit too drama school show off for me

Thanks guys. My only complaint about the cabal is that you keep making me buy ice lollies and my freezer is already full.
Welcome!! I second the lolly aspect - somebody recommended the Rowntrees watermelon slices which I duly scampered to my online shop to order and they are *lovely*!

Still got a bit of Grunkaing to do so forgive me if I repeat someone (it seems to be happening a lot) but todayā€™s kitty pic looks like an attempt at the Lion King/presenting Simba thing šŸ˜‘

ETA: And yep, you got there first, @emmer_moans!

How many slices do we see. Letā€™s count them together, shall we?
One ... two ...

Long time lurker, first time poster. Had no intention of ever posting and just made the account so I could see the receipts (hence the rubbish username) then some of your posts were just too good not to like/react to but since @GrunkaLunka (I think) so nicely asked how we all the new people found this thread I wanted to reply.

So I first discovered Jack when she was first being featured in the guardian and A Girl Called Jack came out (letā€™s be honest Iā€™m a fairly middle class young female lefty who was a student around the time so basically her target market). I got her first book (there were no memorable recipes in it). Followed her on twitter since (until I unfollowed during the pandemic due to her behaviour) but never really actively engaged with her.

Up until a few months ago I only considered her to be ā€˜a bit melodramaticā€™ and rolled my eyes a fair bit at her many many medical conditions that were oh so very significant but not very consistent and soon forgotten about. Was slightly irritated when she went from being ā€˜veganā€™ to suddenly eating animals again (she was never vegan, she was plant-based for a few months if that). At the beginning of the year when she was posting those singing videos Iā€™m ashamed to admit that I was taken in (in a bad way though-I actually pitied her and I even messaged some encouragement to her). At the beginning of the pandemic I was vaguely aware of her throwing tantrums at JO but was very BUSY at the time (triangulate that I work for the NHS šŸ¤£) so didnā€™t pay much attention & didnā€™t watch DKL at the time.

I found you guys probably at about thread 34 (it was a couple of threads after sheā€™d shown up-I then grunkad thread 31 onwards) and have avidly lurked, liking posts since. I must admit I found you because of a combination of my years of eye-rolling at her and the fact that Iā€™m a nosey cow who found it very strange that she suddenly stopped mentioning ā€˜Mrs Jā€™. I expected you all to be a bit bitchy and below the belt (dare I say it I also thought youā€™d all be right wing, possibly transphobes etc) & had no intention of spending hours reading your posts.

But I found that you cabal of haus fraus are the best. Iā€™ve followed along for the various dramas Jackā€™s created over the last few weeks. Iā€™ve laughed out loud (literally) at some of your posts, have loved your insightful, analytic thoughts on class, food, Jackā€™s purchases and everything else youā€™ve discussed. I was taken by how bloody kind you all are. Jackā€™s tweets are so bloody triggering at times and the kindness youā€™ve all shown to each other, the addition of spoilers etc have really touched me. Iā€™ve been eye-rolling at Jackā€™s tweets for years and down-right appalled by her behaviour lately (you guys have really helped me see it as Iā€™m not nocturnal so have previously missed them all and just found the ā€˜this tweet is unavailableā€™). Thank you for all your receipts, for making me laugh, making me think & for generally making her debacles less triggering and more amusing!

For triangulation purposes: Iā€™m middle class (& not ashamed of it unlike Jack). Probably lower middle class, dad has WC roots. Still renting despite having worked a damn sight harder than Jack has & thatā€™s fine. Sorry this was longer than I expected <insert gif of grandpa Simpson yelling at cloud>.
Another recruit for our evil coven of housefraus! Muahaha!

Could any one person BE more self-absorbed???
I think we all know the answer to this... šŸ˜‰

I just... no. WHY post the whole preamble thing??

I have performed in my time (more triangulation info) and the more you look/TELL the audience youā€™re nervous the more terrible the performance - no matter how good you are.

Surely the first rule of any kind of performance be it musical, presenting on TV, cooking etc should be to make the audience feel at ease, no? I suppose then she would lose her USP šŸ™„šŸ™„

Anyway. Just feels manic.

The kitten content is gonna be constant until she gets everyone's purses and wallets lubed up. Still waiting on the crowdfunding plan she was "fleshing out". I'm thinking she's gonna offer people a photo of the kitten or something like when you adopt a koala from Aus. Then we'll have a few months of people asking where their photo is, and the cycle will go on forever until we all pass away!

Welcome, what a lovely first post! šŸ„° You need to buy one of those ice lolly molds and make your own ala @Pocahontas Iā€™m absolutely obsessed with them, also thereā€™s no risk of ever running out!

Despite managing the gateway to furry porn I canā€™t do poetry performances itā€™s all too much - does she burst into song too?! I might have to psych myself up to watch this. Might get an ice lolly out to help me through?

I'm not really an animal person (although I care enough to have chosen not to eat them, but I would never have one in the house) so the cat content hasn't been upsetting me like others. It has been irking me and your comment has put it so beautifully into words why!

Thanks! The 4 minutes of rambling before the singing is quite something.
What the duck have I just watched?

Why does she sound like she's constantly on the verge of tears? Why so much talking? Why would ANYONE want to watch (put themselves through) this? Why does EVERYTHING have to be a Jack Pity Party?

I feel sullied. That should definitely have come with a warning. Where's that spoiler when you need it?!

I thoroughly recommend the fruit pastille lollies made by rowntrees. Much imitated, never bettered.

Actually all their lollies are nice but this one is my absolute fave.
