On point one I would have defended anyone else as I had no idea alt text is a thing. People can’t be expected to know everything. But then I remembered Jack thinks she does know everything and orchestrated that horrendous pile on earlier so no sympathy from me.
Jack thinks she's the wokest of the woke and most oppressed person ever, plus the amount of time she spends on twitter there's no way she wouldn't be aware of alt text.

Roll up roll up and have a go!
I’m apparently established middle class which was a shocker. I thought I was working class.
Established middle class. Not surprised.

But I do find class a bit of a tricky thing - I class my background as middle class but poor - holey shoes in school, leaking bedroom ceiling and no central heating poor. People meet me and think I'm posh and are shocked that the only time I went abroad as a child was on the occasional booze/cigarette cruise to France and we never went further than Calais!

Technical middle class! To be fair not surprised. I think because I make good money sometimes and go to the gym. Very interesting.

Boyfriend came out as 'elite' and has said he's going to start wearing a top hat and cane 😂

I'm traditional working class, according to that. My parents were both from working class families but upwardly mobile, so I grew up in a middle class, though pretty poor, home.

New affluent worker here, which actually feels about right. Also was able to just squeeze into the pre-boom house ownership.

There's a lot of nuances to the British class system, and it doesn't always correspond to financial status either.

Well yes, I am established working class but I definitely identify as Elite.

(Haha, I don’t but Jack is clearly “identifying” as something she patently is not)

I’m established middle class lol. To be fair I can’t really argue with hit because my household income is pretty decent. I come from a working class background and have done well for myself. I earn twice what Mr G does and he has come from a very middle class upbringing.

Poorest of the poor according to that site. Funny, I think we do pretty well.

Been having a grunk on Twitter today, not of Jack as I have her safely blocked but am amazed at the number of people calling her out.

They are not backing down when challenged either and are mostly being reasonable about it all. One pointing out that if Jack didn’t go to her family for help when starving it might be because she was mentally unwell and also young and wanting to prove she could cope….something like that, Also pointing out that this didn’t make her poor.

I’d be genuinely embarrassed to have such smug, patronising, self righteous dickheads defending me. I guess it suits though. I don’t think I can read anymore, it’s so depressing that she just keeps getting away with being so so vile.
And the thing is she’s sitting looking at her two phones with her six chins watching these utter cunts say awful things to this woman like

She could easily tell them to back off, but she actively stirred it up and now does nothing to stop it. The belief that she’s right and cannot be questioned is the most telltale sign of her narc-dom.

Not me doing a sociology PhD and not even knowing about this class category which also happens to be my own 😭😭😭:

Fully agree that class is a tricky one but I don’t begrudge any of my firmly middle class friends when they talk politics or poverty. What I would object to is them talking over me about the experience of precarity, which has become Jack’s whole schtick. If she reverted to her old story of “I was middle class and too proud to ask for help and it could happen to anyone” I’d be less bothered but as V described it the other day, she’s retconned an entire working class past which doesn’t exist, it’s just a pastiche of stories and cliché she’s heard over the years.

Babe, same x
Except me and Mr H swapped earnings this year (I earned more freelance, even when paying tax).

Still tittering to myself that relatively unknown slop cook Jack Monroe is in an industry WhatsApp group that DOESN’T contain globally known trained CHEF Jamie Oliver. Ok duck.

Her chat with Harold really doesn't count as a "group"

Oh squiq, we don’t think “everyone” is a grifter, just Jack.

this this this this!!! I think honorary doctorates are great and can offer great recognition to some, especially legit campaigners (James Timspon got one recently!) but as someone doing in the final stages of a phD, while working, in a topic that I feel pretty specialised in, it's SO galling seeing her parade hers around.

She'd flop at an OU degree, their marking standards are SO high - they mark harsher than a lot of traditional uni's and I'm (90% sure, or at least it was when my mum got hers) you have to get 85% overall for a first, not 70% like at most. She'd collapse. Her academic boasts are pretty harmless, but they are SO annoying.
Lawd I wish it was 70% at my Uni for a First, I could have slept walk that percentage. STEM is (generally, I think) held to a much higher standard. Which is why her Big Maffs and Stats Twatters make me so angry, she is so far from being able to accurately interpret even the most basic data.

I also hope she’s had permission from the relatives of the people she claims to be writing a book about, or maybe I don’t, because then they can sue the duck out of her.

I think I would agree with this calculation. I grew up working class, abused and in poverty but I did go to uni thanks to Scotgov funding and had a good career until I became a ft carer for my child. We own a home albeit in the lowest bracket and as yet have not had to worry about having enough food. We can afford toys, tech (not apple products though) and pets. I feel rich in comparison to my situation as a child. Although I do believe a financial squeeze is coming due to energy and food increases. I was a starving child at times and a lot of our food was nutritionally useless. Jack has no idea what that is like. Also my experience is nothing compared to people in countries affected by war or climate disasters. Jack went to Tanzania and should know this too. The Western experience does not compare. We have drinking water on tap ffs. I also feel adult hunger is not as painful as child hunger as children need numerous calories in order to grow. Anyway, I'm mithering now so need to shut up.

i also got technical middle class which i was offended by because apparently i have a small social circle - not true!

the quiz is flawed though because there’s no option to say whether daddy has an MBE or if you grew up with a lilac mercedes
