I like podcasts I can fall asleep to. I highly recommend
Welcome to Nightvale - a fictional community radio station podcast with some strange goings on.
Russell Kane's evil genius
You're dead to me - history podcast
That Peter Crouch podcast

I used to like and recommend the first couple of series of My Dad Wrote a Porno but then it tailed off in my opinion.

“You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!” The Italian Job 😅

Also Jack's fake broken foot wtf! The writer says she carries on as if it isn’t an issue. Erm, that’s because it didn’t bleeping happen, hence the non-issue. I wonder how many bones she broke when she was hit by/fell under a train and/or fell on the tracks and nobody helped.
shes made them both look stupid with her outrageous lies! The writer didn’t question how many bones the human foot has? I’ll admit human biology is not my strong suit but even I thought 47 sounds like a lot!

Off to find it.
The first thing I saw Vicki Pepperdine in was Getting On with Jo Brand and Joanna Scanlon, haven't watched it for ages, going to search Netflix etc to see if it's available anywhere. She is fab.
Yes I love her - she works a lot with Julia Davis - have you seen Camping? So GOOD. It’s on Sky / Now if you have it. I’m going to look for Getting On - ta!

My suggestion for a funny podcast is Dear Joan & Jericha. It’s Julia Davis and Vicki Pepperdine and they’re fake agony aunts. I promise it is PISS FUNNY. I laughed out loud a lot.
Off to look this up too...

Mention of Julia Davis reminds me of this:

Which is so dark, but so funny. If you can find it anywhere then definitely watch.

I have struggled with MH my whole adult life. I have met so many people like JM within group sessions I've attended over the years. Always trying to outdo each other with their tales of woe. If one person said they were reckless with money while on a high and spent a thousand, someone else would have spent two thousand. If someone had tried suicide they would be lining up to say they had tried numerous times, and they were so much closer to death. It is awful. There was a badge of honour for the person taking the most medication. It got to the point where I wouldn't contribute as I always felt my depression was not as worthy as theirs.
One to one counselling is by far the best option, and there needs to be so much more money spent by the NHS on this.
When I am having a bad day, even eating a bowl of cereal seems an effort not worth making. Everything seems to be overwhelming and the thought of attempting a new recipe that could go horribly wrong would never enter my head. That is ignoring the fact that the food she produces in her books looks like it has already been eaten once and chucked back up.
And as for being poor, she hasn't got a fuckin clue. I won't go into detail, or I would be as bad as her. Except to say, I am living in a bedsit with a 2mX2m kitchen and no outside space whilst being told I need to be shielding because my t cell count is on the floor. Then to read her woe is me tales just makes so angry. And I am not feeling sorry for myself, I have at least got a roof over my head and have managed to get deliveries of food. You lot have brightened my days and have got me laughing out loud.
Sorry for the diatribe, she just makes me so angry, hanging on the coattails of poverty.
My opinion based on experience.

Podcast lists are good....

I love all those, especially Buckles, although agree re criticism of Table Manners, best episodes are the ones where they get disruptive guests, Mel and Sue were great recently.

Comedy:

Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown (try the ones labelled Slamdown first, there are other formats on their feed, but the Slamdowns are the best)
The The One Show Show - an in depth dive into The One Show, analysing it in the style that other podcasts use for things like The West Wing and The Walking Dead. So funny.
Finger on Buzzers - podcast about quizzes with Lucy Porter and Jenny Ryan (off of The Chase)
RHLSTP - Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast.
My Mate Bought A Toaster - Celebs Amazon purchases analysed.
The Horne Section Podcast - just wonderful
The Birthday Game (with Richard Osman) - not been updated for a while, but a lot of fun. Just guessing how old celebs are, but it works.
Elis James and John Robins - 5 live show and currently Isolation Tapes too.

Food:

Out to Lunch (currently In For Lunch) with Jay Rayner
The Kitchen Cabinet (more Jay)
Hoovering
as well as podcasts i find watching people on youtube dedcribing their eating habits/daily routines, so mindless i often watch to go to sleep

Yes, the same here. I really like (not that anyone asked)
-the Adam buxton podcast
-Louis theroux grounded
-answer me this
-off menu
-table manners (though I think they're a bit sycophantic at times)
@Peachy9 I listen to all of those, apart from Answer Me This, will give it a go. Agree about Jessie Ware being sycophantic!

Oh god, please don't apologise. I mostly just laugh at the recipes, but some of her behaviours are really poor form, as my other half would say, and the MH stuff is hugely triggering at times. I'm relatively lucky, financially speaking, and so can only imagine how anger inducing reading some of her stuff regarding her financial position these days must be, you would think she would have more empathy and be better at checking her relative privilege, as the kids say.

Yes watched camping but ages ago so might re-watch.
Can't find Getting On on Netflix, it's on Amazon Prime but you have to buy the episodes, was hoping it would be on Iplayer as it was a BBC Four production but not available there either 🙃 - used Jack's fave emoji so as not to go too far OT 😉

I’m way behind and I’m going to sound like the person who pipes up after everyone has already moved on to something else but... Jack had bread and an egg, but instead of just making egg on toast, she made some fluffernutter sugar-filled combo because she’s such a maverick and she felt so much parent guilt because that’s so relatable guys (and her son was in mismatched pyjamas because everything is just so frantic! Nevermind that my kid is forever in mismatched pyjamas because he grabs whatever is in the drawer first. Never thought it was noteworthy!) ... but I’m guessing this scenario didn’t actually ever happen and she just made up some story to go along with the recipe that she didn’t actually invent because you can find a million of them on Google. Purely my own opinion and speculation your honour.

Also I’m not getting the link between the recipes we’ve seen so far and depression. On bad days am I meant to waste time making a fried sugar sandwich instead of just having egg on toast which takes zero effort?

Every time I see that photo I hear her promise, "it'll thicken up in the oven". 😆 No it won't. It can't, that's not how it works.

Where have you been?

You have missed;
Lugging paint to the shed.
Decorating said shed and tweeting about her new show.
Shaving her hair.
Dying a rats tail strand of hair that she left.
Taking messiah style photos of new hair.
Taking photos in the bath.
Taking photos in her bra.
Fridge breaking.
Begging for Smeg fridge.
Lightly Releasing new book.
Making a ton of mashed potatoes and comparing it to proper chef.
A bit more sobbing, ranting, enlightening and deleting.

Think that’s it? Am sure I have missed something.

Edited to add, we still haven’t seen new shed nor is lockdown larder happening now JO is off the screen!
And the Mrs may or may not have moved out.

Bit late to the podcast chat. I heartedly reckoning GOSSIPMONGERS. It is gross and crass but my god it’s funny. I had to pull the car over during space worm as I was laughing so much. If you don’t mind story’s that talk of jizz and tit, pop it on for your next walk.
I have been watching hooooours of Bon Appetit test kitchen videos on YouTube. I’m not massively into YouTube, I find t he whole ‘hi guys welcome to my channel’ jarring. At the moment they have them cook stuff at home with pantry staples. They mostly have tiny Manhattan kitchens and they do better in those with minimal tech, than JM managed on DK.

Netflix - Ugly delicious is great. It’s looking at different topics every week. A fave for me was arguing what was better dumplings or tortellini and the history behind both.
For the Bourdain fans, I recommend breakfast lunch and dinner. It’s travel come food show. Not as good as Bourdain but entertaining. The Kate McKinnon episode in Cambodia was a highlight for me.

Glow up on BBC3 is a makeup show which is just good fun and very easy watching. No major Assholes which is nice.

And if you’ve not yet delved into the trashy delight which is instant hotel on Netflix (season 1 is amazing) I implore you to give it a go. It has everything you need atm. A peek into other peoples houses, it’s Australian so some sun and just the best kind-of reality tv characters.

Julia Davis is KWEEN
I’m going to have to give this another go. I just could not get into it. Just didn’t laugh at all.
