Bit late to the podcast chat. I heartedly reckoning GOSSIPMONGERS. It is gross and crass but my god it’s funny. I had to pull the car over during space worm as I was laughing so much. If you don’t mind story’s that talk of jizz and tit, pop it on for your next walk.
I have been watching hooooours of Bon Appetit test kitchen videos on YouTube. I’m not massively into YouTube, I find t he whole ‘hi guys welcome to my channel’ jarring. At the moment they have them cook stuff at home with pantry staples. They mostly have tiny Manhattan kitchens and they do better in those with minimal tech, than JM managed on DK.

Netflix - Ugly delicious is great. It’s looking at different topics every week. A fave for me was arguing what was better dumplings or tortellini and the history behind both.
For the Bourdain fans, I recommend breakfast lunch and dinner. It’s travel come food show. Not as good as Bourdain but entertaining. The Kate McKinnon episode in Cambodia was a highlight for me.

Glow up on BBC3 is a makeup show which is just good fun and very easy watching. No major Assholes which is nice.

And if you’ve not yet delved into the trashy delight which is instant hotel on Netflix (season 1 is amazing) I implore you to give it a go. It has everything you need atm. A peek into other peoples houses, it’s Australian so some sun and just the best kind-of reality tv characters.

I’m going to have to give this another go. I just could not get into it. Just didn’t laugh at all.
Oh no!
have made a screenshot of your suggestions , thanks!
They are the Fraus we should all aspire to. I 💓 them.
me too! The podcast is mostly them responding to fake sex problems but sooo funny.

Julia Davis is KWEEN
She’s the ONLY person I’ve been moved enough to approach in a tube station to tell them how much I love them 😍

HOWLING to myself imagining JM doing a version of Jill Tyrell’s ‘prawns (fancy) in a milky basket’. If she was trying to impress someone obvs.

Honestly, how difficult is it to peel a clove of garlic? It took her 10 minutes?? Am I missing something here? Or is she really that incompetent?
I peeled 4 (that’s four) cloves of garlic earlier. Didn’t even break a sweat. Where’s my TV show, eh, EH?

as well as podcasts i find watching people on youtube dedcribing their eating habits/daily routines, so mindless i often watch to go to sleep
I have no idea how I got into it but I watch YouTube videos of various Korean, Chinese and Japanese women cooking and cleaning. It soothes me soooooo much even though I find it strange at the same time - I don't even eat those cuisines or have any real interest in the cultures. But I watch a couple of hours a day.

I like podcasts I can fall asleep to. I highly recommend
Welcome to Nightvale - a fictional community radio station podcast with some strange goings on.
Russell Kane's evil genius
You're dead to me - history podcast
That Peter Crouch podcast

I used to like and recommend the first couple of series of My Dad Wrote a Porno but then it tailed off in my opinion.
Absolutely love You're Dead to me!
Quite enjoying The Guilty Feminist too...

Can you recommend any particular YouTubers? This sounds really relaxing

Jack has gnarly hands, remember. Also arthritis and a whole host of other problems. We should be astounded that she can actually manage a small mundane task.

Lurker and first post 🎉 Jack is a knob. I bought her first book years ago and like the peach and white chocolate traybake. Not much else appeals.

I tend to keep some Birdseye chicken things and potato waffles and peas for those days where I need to be fed and absolutely cannot bear the thought of standing over a stove because I feel low.

Also, I still gag at the thought, sight and smell of tinned peaches. I just had to get that off my chest.

Every time I see that photo I hear her promise, "it'll thicken up in the oven". 😆 No it won't. It can't, that's not how it works.
I know right! No Jack it will all sink to the bottom and your "lasagne" will be as dry as dust. I've literally just made a lasagne and this is how the sauce should look:

I hope that Jack has the decency to properly test the recipes for this book. When I'm low something as minor as spilling water when I'm making coffee can set me spiralling. Depressed people certainly don't need recipes that are destined to fail.

@Nottonightbabe I think you suggested making soda bread the other day, when I was asking about wholemeal SR flour... was this the recipe you had in mind?

I noticed that she posted this in response to a foodbank users question. She's suddenly remembered that they exist, eight days before her book comes out. How timely. Just like the last time she had a book in the offing.

Just to go back to the 2019 Scotsman interview that someone posted on (I think) the last thread, one thing that stands out is that the interviewer doesn't challenge her on this. In fact, no interviewers ever challenge her on any of her BS.

Encourage people to donate to food banks? Yes, great. Donate a percentage of the proceeds of your book to food banks? Yes, also great. But urge people to buy your non-essential book for food banks? Brazen hustle. She derails the question and gets away with it. And there's been plenty of spoon-licking, skimpy pants, gratuitous boobage etc to appeal to a certain element of her fanbase.

And this is a horribly rude and patronising way to talk about her social media audience. Contradictory, too, given her insistence on keeping her DMs open, despite all the 'abuse', because people NEED HER. Her followers don't expect to be kept 'under control'. The poor slavish fools either want advice and/or a little attention from her, or they want to show how virtuous they are by supporting her. Ugh.
