What the actual duck?!! Like a fairy tale. Zoom tour of unopened bills!

I haven’t read the bit about the fire service not letting her rescind her resignation before. The only times I have seen that happen is when the employer really really wants a problematic employee to leave. Plenty of times I have seen good people allowed to back down after a stress induced embarrassing flounce.
On a grunk but this is absolutely true. I work in HR 🔺 and in 8 years and 2 different companies I've only seen one employee not be allowed to rescind their resignation (people don't do this a huge amount but probably more than you might think) and that person was an utter utter nightmare. I've even seen someone on a performance plan be allowed as we've felt although they weren't performing to standard then, they had the right attitude to improve. She must have been a nightmare employee (as we can all imagine I'm sure!!)

Dear Patreons,

I know that many of you share my SEVERE fear of opening the post. To avoid triggering you all, I will not be sending anything to your homes. If you wish to thankme, here's the tip jar. Alternatively, feel free to move to a higher Patreon level, where you will not receive even more stuff each week.

Yours in solidarity,
Jack 🤍

and a tit hot lawyer. You will need a tit hot lawyer.
Who will of course give you the first half hour free...

To be fair, the 'six-year stack of unopened bills' would explain why her credit rating is still so shot to pieces she can't get a mortgage.

‘She doesn’t really look after herself, which makes you feel quite protective’

Out of the mouths of lazy journalists. This article will be read today by thousands, and is a living embodiment of why she’s still seen as the poster girl of poverty.
Also, this actually makes her such a bad example as an activists. Sustainable activism comes from people who not burn out (which can be tough, but seasoned activists will always hammer that home to new ones). I don't particularly care for JM and how much sleep deprivation she forces onto herself. But she does hav a lot of followers and it;s pretty irresponsible to model this kind of behaviour (as with much of her other things).

(Also, grifters gonna grift, she definitely knows how to grab onto whatever comes along and how to rattle te tip jar)

One million dollars says this is her stack of unsent Patreon perks. Waiting for the beleagured post office to give her clearance to send, of course.
Probably said already, but if really is 6 years of post, does that mean Jack takes it with her when she moves??

The Guardian article is pure neoliberal fetishisation of poverty. It’s everything that’s wrong with the Guardian.

M&S are going to increase the value of the £15 vouchers to £20 and have issued a shopping list and meal plan. Fair enough you could likely buy the shopping list contents cheaper elsewhere anyway but surely this is the kind of content that a writer who “specialises” on low cost “good” food ideas would have been issuing this week? Nutritious ideas of what you can do with £15 to keep the children fed.

One thing she will hate is that photo. Maybe they should have asked to use one from her column in the DAILY EXPRESS.
The Guardian’s repeated use of this old photo of her is another example of lazy journalism, innit. By using this photo of her during her Hopkins era, they’re reminding their readers of the one who took down Hopkins, remember her?! Her spiky red hair and challenging expression are so easily identifiable and evocative of the Jack Monroe who slew the dragon.

I’d love it if they used a current photo, complete with larger lips, facetuned as well. And yes - The Express shows ‘another’ Jack - one who loves the queen, but at least looks like she does today.

Yes, indeed. She insists on blaming her brief period of poverty when in reality it's this, poor money management, and the fact that she keeps letting her rent bounce.

From the Guardian article “It’s just the way I was raised – if there’s space at the table, shove up and make room. If you’ve got spare in your fridge, share it.”

If this was the way she was raised, and the way I’m assuming her family still are, then why was she (allegedly) sitting in an empty, cold, dark flat with a toddler and no food to feed them?

Why not the in-a-bra-on-the-sideboard picture. More representative of her messy status.

It's just so lazy eh? Wheeling out lil smoll miss Monroe with her 2011, superlative-laden, poverty story again, because she [checks notes] has been angrily tweeting for 3 days in a row and had a cringe things on the BBC (while MR and RM where actually speaking to the parties involved and got tit done).

Why, God, why?
