Sheā€™s going to a protest on Sunday.
Has everyone forgotten about covid 19??? I fully support the BLM, but I donā€™t think people should be putting themselves and others in harms way in the middle of a global health pandemic. We can find other ways to go about this, rather than putting a lot of people in danger. I wouldnā€™t be surprised if thereā€™s gonna be another spike, and itā€™s really sad.
The MPs are calling for people to not protest and keep social distancing rules in play, but they didnā€™t give a tit and say a single thing about the VE Day street parties or the thousands of people who flocked to the beach. And to be honest them now asking for people to mandatory wear face masks on public transport 3 months later than it should is just them trying to buy a tiny plaster on a massive gushing wound.

There has been so much information being shared around social media about how to keep safe during the protests, asking people to wear masks/gloves/long sleeved clothing, and to try and keep distance from other people where possible. And looking at images from local protests from today, the majority are wearing face masks and gloves which is great.

The second spike has always been very much expected, and my partner whoā€™s in the medical field has said that hospitals have been preparing for a second spike work load long before lockdown was eased, there is not ā€˜if there is a second spikeā€™, there is going to be one. Weā€™ve had out lockdown eased too soon to try and distract people and forget all about the Cummings scandal.

I really hope people will not solely blame these protest as the reason for the second spike, these people are out there supporting a very important cause that needs itā€™s voice heard and for changes to happen - just compare that to the thousands of people not social distancing at the packed out beaches, breaking social distancing rules for their own selfishness.

I dunno thatā€™s my thoughts anyway.

As this is a Helen thread Iā€™m happy sheā€™s educating herself on the topic and is going out to march. Be safe out there people x

It is sad and there will be, but lets not be so naive as to think it will solely be based on protests, where everyone is looking more protected than the everyday person on the street. Everywhere i go now, shopping, walking, doctors....social distancing is out of the window, no one cares anymore..so, because of lags it will be convenient for publoc, media, government to blame the protests but in all honesty, its not. Dont get me wrong, i wouldnt go anywhere near a protest right now beliefs or not. . . . But they wont be the sole contributor. Im most likely to get it from Ronald and Julie who went to the beach last weekend, who didnt wash for 2 days and dont social distance and wear no mask in the queue of the co-op šŸ¤£

I agree, I read today the R has already gone back over 1 in the NW and in London, so how are they going to deal with that? Put us back into lockdown. Suddenly implementing face masks now is crazy. Talk about closing the stable door once the horse has bolted. The Cummings fiasco was the final straw and made a lot of people really give up but people were breaking the rules before that anyway so they canā€™t blame it on the protests, although Iā€™m sure theyā€™ll try.

I donā€™t understand why they give the guidance in advance for some rules. Why say in 5 days time you can start socialising in groups of 6 or in private gardens because they know people will just start doing it straight away. They should give the guidance for things like that on the day the restriction is lifted.

My concern with instagrammers like Helen right now attending these protests is the same as for the black squares, is it just virtue signalling to make them look good or do they really care. Thatā€™s just cynical me tho!

I'm going to a protest tomorrow but I'm hanging back so I can stay socially distant. Everyone has been asked to wear masks. I won't be talking any photos because it isn't about that. Have you guys seen influencers in the wild on Insta? Terrifying stuff

If you believe Helen cares about BLM (or any cause for that matter) you are being hoodwinked.

Maybe so, but at least sheā€™s using her platform for sharing the topic and giving useful links to information.

That being said I am fully expecting her to post a posing picture of her at the protest, for the ā€˜gram šŸ™„

Thanks! I didn't know this!

I really hope people protesting protect themselves as much as they can. I'm just incredibly worried as I live with a sick family member and tbh, they're scared stiff.

I'll be interested to see if she vlogs it or anything.

Also anyone who is protesting tomorrow, please be careful!

Love all these youtubers using their platforms to educate us on Racial prejudices across the world when I can't recall one post from Helen that wasn't an ad/to benefit herself/about herself in the last 2 years. Nothing wrong with sharing your life and the like but don't come at us with guilt trips and patronising posts about how we should stop being complicit with Racial abuse/educate ourselves. Palease! Self serving creeps. Sorry for rant x
I couldnā€™t agree more with this, it is unbelievably patronising, I fully support BLM and sharing information of course I do like any decent human would but what I cannot stand is all these influencers coming out and being aggressive and guilt tripping their followers, I have seen Helens posts (shock the only one on her grid matches her colour scheme) and zoelondon and they are acting like they havenā€™t been complicit as well! I would rather see information shared (donā€™t particularly like her but zoella has done well sharing lots of insightful information) without being so aggressive! Also Helen comes across as dumb and Iā€™m sorry to be cynical like others but I donā€™t think she really cares that much, I think she is more caring about the fact that she hasnā€™t been able to post content in the last week and wonā€™t be able to ā€˜treat herselfā€™ to more tit.

I'm fed up of nobody caring anymore. I have noticed the media aren't running stories about sad deaths any more and we are not seeing updates on every channel and the NHS are no longer mentioned so without all these reminders people are assuming it's all getting better now
I fear the previous strict lockdown will have been wasted effort sadly.

Yep, bet she will be standing on a cool pose holding a sign on a stick, probably in her cowboy hat!!

Wait, she said she ran a 5k in 30 minutes?! Yet right at the start of the vlog she showed how she was gasping for breath, hardly able to get through sentences after jogging a bit and walking at the 2k mark. duck right off with your lies Helen.

She even admits sheā€™s not a runner, I run and have family who are fitter than her and manage to do parkrun 5ks every bleeping week (well before corona) around 30 minutes. I donā€™t believe for a second she did the same pace as them and did a 5k run in 30 minutes, especially as she takes seems to take regular breaks to walk. You donā€™t waddle that fast Helen. duck off.

(For some reason that made me really mad lol!)
Oh duck off Helen you can't even do a single squat properly šŸ¤£

I have a friend very similar to Helen, constantly needs to have a boyfriend / attention from any man, will literally go home with anyone after a night out just so she gets some attention, changes herself completely to fit whichever boy she is ā€œseeingā€ at the time.. so much so she took up smoking and got a tattoo to try to keep one guy once who just wanted to be friends... I donā€™t think behaviour like this is right at all, and there must be some underlying mental health issue to be like this!! I donā€™t get Helens (or my mates) constant need to be with someone, just be single for a while šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Jeez

lmao I can vision the picture right now. Low angle, power stance, cowboy boots, cowboy hat, band t-shirt, sign in hand accompanied by a caption that Gleam probably drafted out for her

Just got back from the protest in my town. Lots more people there than I expected. I hung back and social distanced where I could. Some people got a bit too close but 99% of people wore masks. It was nice and peaceful. I'm glad I went.

I havenā€™t posted on this thread before but I used to enjoy watching Helen but my sister is exactly the same as your friend and Helen. Sheā€™s in her 50ā€™s and heading towards a massive breakdown because of this inability to be herself (sheā€™s never known who she really is). Itā€™s for sure a mental health issue. Please get some help Helen, before itā€™s too late!

Yes, everyone is forgetting about the virus and the very real possibility of getting it yourself it passing on unknowingly. We are being encouraged to by the media so that 1) we all forget about Cummings and he stays in power šŸ˜¬ and 2) so we all get back to work and spending šŸ’° for the all important economy. The lock down was to prevent an embarrassing collapse of the UKs healthcare. Embarrassing for the government. They don't care about us, they care about how much money we create and how much they can make out of manipulating said economy.

Woah, ranty. Thanks to anyone who read that.
I hope whoever protested keeps healthy, and it was great to hear about people wearing ppe and 2 m apart. ā¤

I have to say, some British names make me chuckle. No matter how many times I tell myself that those names have a proper meaning from older time, I just cant help myself.

It's really upsetting when one of your friends just can't get it through their head that they don't need to constantly be dating or hooking up with people. Taking time for yourself, especially in between serious relationships (cough cough Helen) is so important. Essentially losing their personality because they're trying to get a boy to like them.
