I don’t think the age gap is that bad, my friend is 24 and dating someone who’s 36. It’s the fact they’re engaged after 1 year wtf!!
Tbf I forgot she is now like 25 going on 26, in my head its still 2018 and she’s like 20😂

I was fully one of those people who met their partner after being very much “I love being single” and didnt want a man!! And I love my boyfriend so much. And if he proposed in a year I’d think he was insane. What is the RUSH?!?!

It’s not just the 1 year thing. It’s also the fact they haven’t been living together that long and they live in her house etc
He wants to lock that down - house, dollar etc

I think it’s the age gap in combination with the quick proposal that makes it weird. Yes there’s plenty of people with that age gap and it’s fine, happily ever after etc, but it is just a reality that big age gap relationships can are more likely to have some dodgy dynamics. If Grace was talking about settling down last year, maybe it’d feel less icky, but she was talking about wanting to enjoy her twenties and not rush relationships etc. Then this guy swoops in and suddenly she’s playing house and getting married.

I think the age gap is very relevant, because I doubt if she was dating another 26 year old they’d have moved in and be engaged by now.

Agreed or, let's be honest, he was jn a similar financial situation to her. I always find the idea of proposing weird tbh but her acting as if this has made her cry for days... this seems so 1950s when she is the breadwinner (and let's be honest he knows ,it)

He wanted to lock down a new stream of income 🤣🤣🤣 a grown man living in YOUR house? Grace you can do so much better! I think she likes the power imbalance though, she could not handle being with a man more successful than her and vice versa. I hope it lasts and that she’s genuinely happy but something tells me otherwise, like marriage is another thing she wanted to tick off the list & not a genuine commitment that she’s ready for. 3/4 years down the line she will go on a podcast and say “I felt like the man in the relationship” etc

It's like a honeymoon phase engagement on crack. I mean imagine dating Grace - free room and board, holidays every 2 weeks, absolutely limitless disposable income, puppies running around, invites to swanky events - it would be hard not to get swept up in it. But Jesus. It's not real life.

Have they been through anything difficult together to see how they'd cope? Have they seen each other on no sleep, grumpy, burnt out, lost in a foreign city, stressed about the future, grieving, having an *actual* work crisis, dealing with a mental health crisis, feeling weird and unlovable, or questioning their direction in life - you know, crappy life things that all normal serious couples do come up against over time - and work through together and bond over and support each other with?

They've basically had an 11 month magic carpet ride.

ETA: Also the fact he's 37 and has (hopefully) been in other serious relationships and KNOWS this isn't normal but is locking her into it anyway is ick

It’s so wild to me - my partner and I are both the same age as Grace and just got engaged this year after knowing each other for 10 years, being in a relationship for 7 and living together for 2 and I still feel like such a baby and imposter - and we’re not even planning to get married until November 2025 because again, what’s the rush? My mind is blown

The wedding will be either a completely crazy lavish thing or they're gonna go away and do it in secret in some super fancy place

he’s here again in some ridiculous fitting trouser and greg rolls up in a nasty kitten white heel, they’re welcome to each other as far as im
concerned 🤮 and how hilarious are the wedding pics going to be with her ill blended wrong colour foundation and penchant for choosing horrendous dresses and him with this ongoing wide leg trouser saga. can’t wait ☕

It’s maddening because she always struck me as being salty (lol 2k16 slang throwback) about what other women have despite having so much herself. All the digs about not being excited about women’s careers, about yummy mummies, etc., all of it felt as if it was coming from a POV of envy and insecurity cos she was always the first to make a big show of meeting the same kinds of milestones she previously vaguewhinged about (getting a car, settling down, on top of what I said before)

Fully agree w what people are saying about him as well, from the sloppy suits to weirdness of it all

No way will she do it in secret, she loves the attention too much. Plus she'll be thinking of all she can get gifted for it.
