@HotesTilaire The cat is not a pedigree of any sort! Her mother is a tortoise shell, dad looks like a Freisian cow. She has slight tabby markings but they are hard to capture on camera.

Sorry to hear people are struggling. Keep doing whatever works for you.
I managed to get a record 12 days off work. Had things lined up, including seeing family for first time in 2 years. One by one, all my plans have been cancelled. Being alone with my thoughts is not what I needed after the lockdowns. I find exercise is the only way to banish darker thoughts but have to motivate myself to do it. Off for another bike ride today - have planned in a coffee stop as a reward for going out.
Not going out tomorrow as I think that's too risky. Plus I hate "forced fun" where people shout at you to smile, enjoy yourself, it's new years eve!

Thanks toffee, bloody out of stock there though!!!! Will look next week, am not even at home
There’s a few websites that do them but that’s where I usually buy from. I’ve applied many and none have fallen off but just make sure you 100% follow the instructions so it’s fully suctioned on. Most people I help buy their own as they don’t want to wait but depending on your circumstances you can have them applied (and other aids) through social services.

What a change! Not self-aggrandising at all, it’s honestly inspiring that a dark time set such a positive thing in motion. It’s not something everyone can do, and that’s ok, but it’s so good to hear about it.
It sounds like you’ve got the perfect mindset for it, to genuinely care about the people you’re there for. I know someone who is a cleaner for elderly people, which she does, well, but what she also does is chat with the people she works for. It’s not part of the job description, but to her it’s one of the main things.
Bonus points that I'm fitter and stronger, changed body shape through natural moving, and sleep like a top most nights.

Anyway, hope your days are content and peaceful. Enjoy a nice cup of tea and don't let the turkeys get you down

I remember you having some issues with the assessment for your PIP. Sorry to ask but are you classed a disabled? Sorry to be so direct.
Yes I am disabled, I had covid in the first wave we think. I never fully recovered but I’ve recently been diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue/ME rather than Long Covid. Diagnosed by GP, on a list to see the ME specialist. I live alone and no longer work, I got the PIP and work assessment sorted last summer (praise beans as I needed the ££££) I just don’t have the energy to do very much apart from keep myself fed, clean and go out shopping about once a fortnight.
I’m in my flat really all the time so whilst I could clean it myself I would like it to be “done” nicely for me. Moving about doing a bit each day is good for me but I want to go out more, so I’m going to ditch the daily cleans for “going outside” and leave it to the cleaner to do.

Thanks as I say I’m away until new year anyways. If I get stuck I can always try an Argos one as they are great about returns if it doesn’t work.

You will be eligible for DFG. Most local authorities have a budget for it and its usually underspent as so many people don't know it exits or that they are eligible. Disabled Facilities Grants: Eligibility - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) Its a good time to apply now as the local authority will want to allocate the remaining budget before March year end. I'd love to tell you my involvement with this but 🔺 🔺 🔺 🔺 🔺!!! Ask for both what you need now and also what you will need in the future to remain in your property and living independently should you condition worsen.

A cleaner and some home adaptations will make such a difference to you ❤

Anyways, how was Woo Tang Scran?

Thanks, due to some other circumstances I’m not making any long term plans for my flat just now, later this year I will be looking at whether to move back to 🔺 woo tang scran area. However being here with a different bathroom layout has underlined how mine is a bit unhelpful, but a suck on bar would help for now.
Hence also friends and family up here not fully understanding I don’t have the ability I used to have. Yes I am exactly like myself for an hour or two, but not for a day or two.
WooTang tomorrow, obviously it would be great if Chris’s chippy was open by then but who knows 🤣

I know of a great little Housing Co-op with adapted ground floor flats in that area. Sounds ideal for you when you want to move. Might be worth putting your name down now. Sorry, I will poke my nose out of your business now. Let me know if you want the details.

I would get precisely nothing done if those three lived with me.

Truly amazing specimens of fluff.

They have such lovely natures, I know they improve my mental health by just by being around. Pooh seems to know which part of me is sore and sits on it or puts a paw gently on whatever hurts.
MCs are becoming popular with parents of Autistic children as they're so gentle and intuitive.

Hello F&D thread, I haven't visited for a while.

I've been in isolation with covid since before Christmas and was really hoping to get out in time for NYE but I'm still testing positive on day 9. 😭

What a crappy end to a crappy year. Sorry to come in and immediately have a moan.

Firstly, sorry that you are having a crappy time.

Secondly, if you test negative tomorrow (day 10) are you allowed out? It all seems so confusing with the negative tests on 6/7 equalling a shorter isolation period.

Are you Ok though? Have you been really ill?

Please do moan. I moan all the time.

It needs to be two days of negative tests in a row, so I'd have to have tested negative today (as far as I can tell). I could go out after midnight either way, I suppose, but if I'm not testing fully clear it doesn't feel right.

I've been pretty rough - had a few days that felt like flu, then for the rest of the time a nasty cough, extreme tiredness and just a kind of weird "off" feeling. I'm sure I've got off pretty lightly though, being vaxxed and boosted. Can't imagine what a full-force dose of covid is like.

I clarified this with track and trace this week for the same reason. Even if you’re still positive after ten days you’re allowed out, so there you go! The 2 day thing is for early release for vaxxed. I wasn’t lucky enough to get a negative twice but my partner was! As once you’ve got the virus, you can still shed it. No pcrs for 3 months etc etc. So enjoy your freedom and hope you feel better soon x

thanks again for everyone's nice thoughts last night. I'm glad I have this space to vent tit. ❤

I'm kinda still pissed off with myself that I haven't been enjoying this week as much as I should have, but that's fucken life, I guess.

(I'm also still safe and ok, if anyone was wondering)

anyhoo, I'm being a big brave girl and I've agreed to go to lunch tomorrow with my mr kcc, his mam and his brother. I know it'll be fine, but it's the first time I've been anywhere that's not work or lidl since his dad's funeral and I'm so apprehensive about it
