Have you done a cost breakdown on the contents of a Hello Fresh box vs getting off your ass and buying in a supermarket and following a recipe?
We get hello fresh and an Ocado shop in šŸ˜‚ surely having visited Jamie Oliverā€™s fine eateries two whole times youā€™re familiar with the concept of paying in excess of the cost of raw materials for convenience and experience?

@Blurp I found the phone interview ok. The issue was what came next, if I said I could do one thing they jumped on it, I came out with the ukā€™s fave score -nil points- because I can walk 50m so this proves I can cook!?!?
Best advice I had - itā€™s just a game. Itā€™s set up to stop you getting money.
I did the mandatory reconsideration. I wrote the same as my application form. I said was what I said at interview.I then got 6 points!?!?. I wasnā€™t saying anything new. . . am now appealing, just need two more points.

Well I have had a Hello Fresh box arrive today that I forgot to cancel and a massive Ocado delivery and I cant be arsed to cook anything at all as the children are at their dads and I feel sad. Looks like all I needed was a motivational speech.

I went to the interview with my auntie last year as she was so nervous and the person doing the interview was so kind and sympathetic and she was awarded PIP. Gosh - it must be either harder now or hit and miss with the assessor. Good luck with it all.

@Universal have you tried just not feeling sad?????

@Blurp My assessor lady was nice enough to talk to. I asked for a break as I was getting tired. She said I could have a minute, I said thatā€™s not worth it. Outcome said no fatigue- didnā€™t ask for a break!!! All my later paperwork says after x question I asked for a break, you can listen to the recording!!!
I really think the assessors and DWP are geared to say ā€œnoā€ any which way they can. When you appeal itā€™s the courts who decide. This helps all the dwp people say they are strict and donā€™t hand it out, but the courts overrule it.

MIL was advised (by her GP!) to act as if it was her absolute worst day when she went, ask for breaks, ask for water and basically annoy them into saying yes. She felt like it was totally immoral and would have refused but ā€œluckilyā€ actually was having a terrible day on the day of the assessment and they did say yes. Reading other peopleā€™s stories makes me realise why her GP told her that.

Good luck with your appeal. My appeal was successful, so it is possible.

@HotesTilaire its ok, I found the sad 'off' switch. Now living my best life and have a Heston inspired meal on the go with the correct wine pairings.

I have a disabled sister. The only advice I would give when being assessed would be to answer how you would manage life on your worst days. My sister used to fill in the forms like she was an Olympic athlete (she hated being defined by her illness) and then I would be in charge of the many appeals.

Cross post but the right advice. As humans we concentrate on what we CAN do and its to our detriment at times.

@Universal well, quite. All you needed to do was not be sad. šŸ˜˜
It feels deceitful ā€œacting upā€ at your worst. Then you get the assessment and see how deceitful theyā€™re being, gets easier after that!!!!!!

Sounds like my mental health team. Apparently I refused medication but what I actually said that there was no point in simply upping my dose of antidepressants as I'd been up to the maximum before with a previous consultant and all it did was make me physically ill. No offer of any other sort.

I got officially dismissed from work on Thursday due to being too ill to work for over a year according to their own OH provider. The union went instead of me to protect my mental health and now we try to appeal the refusal of medical retirement as I can be helped according to that same OH provider.... Only the confused letters from the consultant psychiatrist and psychologist saying that I can't didn't work for appeal. The GP was supposed to write a letter spelling it out in simple terms but he hasn't so the practice medical secretary is going to call me tomorrow morning. Arrrggggg.

I've got a mix of physical and mental problems. I actually remembered something yesterday that I'm so used to living with that I forgot to add it but - quite seriously given my memory problems - forgot it again until just now so I need to go through everything I've put down with a fine tooth comb. Then once this is done, it's returning to the fight for a proper diagnosis for ADHD rather than EU/BPD. I didn't have much faith in the psychiatrist after she told me that I couldn't have ADHD as I wasn't hyperactive so I really should have told her to Google inattentive ADHD šŸ˜³šŸ˜±šŸ¤¬šŸ¤Æ. The practice doctor (not my own doctor) then told me that I should just have a healthy diet, take some exercise and do some light volunteering and I'd feel much better. Like that during the past 40 years hasn't helped, including being told that I was one of the fittest people in the ship due to the amount of exercise I did as a naval reservist while simultaneously volunteering for years as a Cub scout leader. Head, meet brick wall.

Sorry youā€™ve got so much to deal with @Blurp šŸ’•
The medical retirement is a big thing and I hope the Union is helping with that. Usually there is about 6 months to appeal so the GP needs to buck up. You will probably have to pay for the letter.
And the pip on top...the admin that goes with it all is just overwhelming.

Sending rainy hugs to everyone who is struggling.

Now get letā€™s off our arses and go and do a big shop and cook a whole fresh meal šŸ˜–.

Today was heading towards a giant chocolate button and takeaway chip day and the cluster headaches are definitely not allowing for cooking so we had oven chips with plant pioneer fishless goujons.

Successfully binged the Pact and Innocent so I am feeling pretty smug on the TV front šŸ˜‚.

I'm having oven chips with frozen broad beans and a sshhhh Linda McCartney mozzarella burger. I had the Plant Chef's fishless cakes yesterday which were delicious and far more fishy tasting than some real ones I remember from my pescatarian days.
