I used to really enjoy her stories (looking for her stolen phone was classic) such a shame she doesn't really do any these days. Money talks I suppose...until there's something to promote.... I agree @Suzesnooze

This forum is full of people feeling manipulated and sold to by influencers who will sell you anything to make money, and none of it is genuine, and people often wonder what these influencers ‘do’ and that they should work for a living. And here is someone doesn’t do ADs but does use their talent (appreciate not everyone will like her books) and platform to work for a small fee. She’s a writer, why should she have to give that away for free?
She doesn't have to give it away for free. She could start a blog and put adverts on it if her content is valuable.

It seems more like she wants to be paid for random social media posts. All the cardashians tried the same, you had to subscribe to their app to see their twitter and insta like posts. It didn't last.

It's a fine balance to get right. 780 people signing up is a lot. But the vast majority won't, they can't give "a cup of coffee" in value every month to everyone they like following on social media. It's a bit lose lose for everyone involved.

She’s inadvertently told us what type of person she is - 10 mins late for her facial and annoyed that she didn’t get her full treatment as presumably the therapist had other clients to see, Dawn works for herself why was she 10mins late?. Then the booked call from her publisher comes through when she is on a live - surely she could have done the live after the scheduled call with her publisher, but no her time is more important.

I thought she was behind Choose Love, certainly very involved when you “involve” yourself in a cause like refugees how can you sit on the fence!

Hi dawn, business/patreon slow going??
After Caroline Flack died and Dawn started posting about their friendship her followers went up around 50K extra followers. Looking at her Patreon it looks like she’s had a lot more members sign up so seems like she’s doing well 🤷‍♀️

Did you see the post she made (then swiftly deleted) about being so stoned she passed out on her kid fully clothed?
I’ve seen her post a few times about being stoned! Plus her and Chris love to drink! Normally her kids are at school or childcare so she does seem to be struggling having them at home full time!

And I’m sure I’ve read her say they ‘flip’ houses.

I dunno. Do we expect self flagellation? They’re rich, they work for it, they enjoy their lives 🤷‍♀️

Nice pillow face she has going on there. Someone has had some tweakments that haven’t settled down yet. Or maybe she got stung by a bee or something…
The insecurity in that weakass clapback tho.
She admits she has Botox but you’re right, that face is full of fillers. I think she is very insecure…. She stopped her Patreon blog because she didn’t have time but then moved to Tik Tok. I hardly think Tik Tok users are her core demographic as a writer

I know this thread went quiet but had to find it to vent - she went and posted a really obvious spoiler for this week’s episode of Succession on her Instagram and has been really petulant about it in the comments. So annoying as I hadn’t watched yet and thought Instagram was safe! 😤

Cows and So Lucky are adult books. I've read them both but So Lucky was better but I don't actually think she's that good a writer. Very basic. Her plots are predictable.

I’m not a parent but I hate to think if I ever became one I’ll have to give up all fun. If they aren’t getting out of control I don’t see a problem with drinking and smoking personally.

Yes her family are comfortable, but does that mean she should she work for free? Dawn is a writer, not an instamum influencer shilling us crap with sponsored posts. There clearly is an audience that is willing to pay for her content so I think it’s fair play to her 🤷🏻‍♀️
She started off as a TV presenter and wrote a few columns. She only got into writing when Chris became so famous and she lost a lot of her jobs and then probably due to Chris been famous she got offered book deals. Her writing is mediocre but she actually writes articles better than she writes novels.

I don't agree with her Patreon. I follow some actual authors that have them but they don't have publishing deals so it helps pay for their marketing etc when they release a book.

I read the Amazon review at the time but Dawn has never mentioned it but the person who wrote the review was contacted by Dawn’s Lawyers I think she said?

Dawn looks like she was the popular girl at school, so I can well imagine her doing what was claimed!

Did anyone catch this? She posted it on her Instagram about her new writing series and got almost 100% pushback on using “Food noise” in this way; minimising a debilitating issue, belittling weightloss jabs, placing “indulgence” alongside jabs and food noise. Mostly “I love you but…” style, not really attacked mind you. And she’s just deleted the post. Not addressed it, not apologised, just deleted…. But left the original substack post up.

Chris O'Dowd on chatty man popped up on my YouTube recommendation, he says that they didn't sell the wedding photos as " why bother, we're so rich". Just made me think of dawn and her patron.
She posted yesterday about how her work dried up in the last decade but I imagine she was still wealthy as she owned a place in LA and in London!

What a decade! This photo pretty much sums it up for me. I met my husband on my 30th birthday 11 years ago this month. He moved in, we got a dog, we got married, we made babies. I became an adult. I loved getting married and I loved having babies. I gave birth to one of them on my bed with my husband and one of my best friends by my side. You can’t beat that. I got three amazing men in my life. One big one, two small ones. Team O’. The greatest of gangs. Work was a wild ride this decade. After achieving great success in my 20s, my early 30s were a slam dunk down to earth as the TV industry made me realise how disposable we all are in that world. I was a mess, to be honest. Felt like a total loser and failure. I got really down about it. Down O’Porter. Then I got a call from a lovely lady called, Emily. It went something like this ‘I love your column’ (I’d actually just lost my column and was in a literal heap on the floor as the call came in). ‘I think you’d write great fiction for young adults, would you consider it?’ A month later I had a two book deal. I got to writing Paper Aeroplanes straight away. The book that changed my life. I poured my soul into it. I found a small but interested group of readers who lifted me onto the next. Four fictional novels later and I end this decade knowing exactly who I am professionally, in control of my own existence and so clear on what work I want to create and how to make that happen. Life isn’t always easy. Most struggles are private, but of course they are there. As they are for everyone. But despite the rocky start to this decade, you can only be happy when it ends in such a good place. I feel very lucky. I’m heading into my 40’s and the ‘20s confidently and with the hope that this good moment lasts for at least a big chunk of it.

I really like her but a while back there were a few stories asking for recommendations for mattresses etc, which we all know is insta speak for who wants to send me a free mattress! 🙄
When she moved into their new house in London last year, she was posting for recommendations continually and it was obvious she was hinting for freebies! I've gone off her a bit since the Caroline Flack thing and the patreon!

She said she had been for a facial that was her Mother’s Day gift!

Her clap back made me 🙄

When she set up her Patreon she made it sound like she was struggling at that point but she showed up on TikTok a while ago eating lunch and all the items she was eating were expensive. It’s not like she’d bought her lunch from Aldi or Lidl!

I’d say most of her money goes on alcohol!

I have always liked her but yeah she is starting to get on my nerves lately. Not the climate change thing - I think she has immediate responses to things and post about them and I kind of like her for that - we do what we can and I’m not sure what you’re supposed to do when half your life (family)is on another continent. IMO it’s business travel has done for the world - I spent a year in global corporate and I was astonished and disgusted at the travel, the frequency, the brief spells (UK to US for 2 nights), the absolutely no thought to any alternative options. Vile.

It’s the qerkiness that’s getting on my nerves. It’s such a creation. Wafting about being just so retro. I might be done with it.

Yes I think she’s an insecure person definitely. She always bites when people write relatively tame comments she doesn’t like and I think that’s a classic sign of insecurity. I remember when I first started following her on Twitter and found her so self-absorbed. All her tweets were me, myself and I. I thought with age and kids she might have calmed down a bit.
