I really hated City of bones and it made me pass on her books. I know so many people love it but yes, generally I think the infernal devices is regarded as her best series. I am tempted to give her another go with that series but idk....Right, I know I’m chatting a lot about Cassandra Clare’s books but they’re just so damn confusing! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OF THEM?! I’m now seeing people online who say that The Infernal Devices series is better than The Mortal Instruments. I’m so confusedwhere do I start with her books????? EDIT: I do have City of Bones, so I’m thinking I should just start there, BUT The Infernal Devices is a prequel series, so should they technically be read first?

Oooh thanks not read any of hers (I don't get on with audible) so just looked her up, looks right up my street and all on KU. Downloaded her earliest book Safe With Me and will work down the handy list on Amazon!

I'm sure I've seen Luster lumped into the sad, angry, toxic girl trope on BookTok. Similar to A Certain Hunger, A Year of Rest and Relaxation and so on.
(Couldn't finish Luster as much as I wanted to like it.)
I rated it 3 stars. It was just a strange book to me. I read it in 2021 and actually bought the hardback, which isnt like me.

The characters that survive TDA will then finish the whole series off in the new (last) trilogy but it’s unnamed currently as she’s only just released chain of thorns (the infernal devices sequal series)
You can most certainly read TMI without reading TID but some characters and references do pop up in the later series.
The infernal devices is set in Victorian London and the last hours is about the children of the adults from that series.
The mortal instruments is New York and the dark artifices is LA.

I tried to read Glory but it just felt a bit clever for me. Beautiful writing and funny but it felt like I was missing something? Like a Robert Mugabe/Animal Farm mash up.
Trespasses - amazing, fantastic book. Very pleased it's on it.
I haven't read Cursed Bread but I've read her other two books. If it's like those then I suspect a highly commended but doubt it will win.
Natalie Hayes is fantastic at Greek myth adaptations and I do have this on my (very long) wish list. Loved The Children of Jocasta especially as I think the final part of the Oedipus saga is usually forgotten about.
No strong feelings or knowledge of the other nominees. Quite surprised Lessons in Chemistry didn't get long listed. It would be nice to have a book with some humour on the list.
