I am hoping the same. these things have a habit of growing wings though

My kids are in their 40s and I don't remember egg hunts at that time. but maybe other areas had them. Where I lived we only had low key parties for Halloween, apple bobbing and telling spooky stories we didn't have guising like Scotland and Ireland.
It might be religious or cultural I guess re: egg hunts. I’m not on IG but I remember it used to be a time with lots of arts and crafts like blown egg painting, basket weaving, and Easter bonnet making. This is making me sound a bit Little House on the Prairie 😂

I enjoy a holiday event and little things that punctuate the year if they have meaning and are fun. If they encourage activity and interaction away from screen time.

What I think has happened over the last 15 years or so, is a blurring of the lines re: seasonality of events - so we just get over Christmas and Easter eggs are in the shops. Mid-Jan and Valentine’s stuff is everywhere shortly followed by Mother’s Day. It’s like a conveyor belt of commercialism.

I wonder if some aspects of social media encourage people to buy themed stuff that you’ll use once and then throw away because you don’t have the space to store it or it’s too poor quality to reuse. I wish people would remember that not only does this stuff end up in landfill sites across the planet, most of it doesn’t break down organically.

!00% its a shame really, my childhood Christmas was very different the decorations went up Christmas eve so when we got up Christmas morning it was magic. When my kids were small we put the decorations up on the 22nd as was my daughter's birthday but many people by then were already having them up for a month or more. Now by the time, Christmas is here most people are sick of it. everything is just so commercial.

As for throwaway stuff, its just designed to keep you buying more and more. Everything that is now made has a lifespan built-in. TV breaks, get a new one, in fact, a new version comes in, change the TV. that applies to all appliances and devises.
Our TVs were built to last as was everything back then and that's exactly what they did. We had the same TV all our childhood just kept changing the parts.
My brother has only just got rid of the gas cooker my mum got when we were young and it still worked fine, just looked silly 😂

It’s taking my husband far too long to return with my topped up glass of wine.

That sounds familiar, think may have used it once ... but obviously not more than that! Mitchum is pretty good.

People who join an addict group or diet group etc and every single day fall off the wagon and post about it. Then get lots of "you got this" "just get back on it!
Hello, they never were on it. Stop bleeping about and stop trying to stop until you are 100% ready. If you are not ready then all you are doing is setting yourself up to fail or are you now just addicted to the replies sending you love?

Our trashy, rude, arrogant, liar neighbours downstairs. They've been causing endless problems since they've moved in some years ago but the heights to which they've taken things is honestly staggering. This is not the shithole you've moved away from, arseholes, maybe sod off to a place that suits the actual you instead of the imaginary you, if the building and the residents are not to your liking. I'm honestly livid.

Tons of photos on my Facebook feed of people blatantly breaking the rules having family over for Easter lunch, having indoor gatherings for drinks this weekend, I’m just like am I missing something 🤷‍♀️ I thought it was only outdoors you could meet and obviously then with restrictions/distancing. I feel like we’re never going to get out of this if people carry on mixing like this before it’s safe. No one is 100% perfect and there has been the odd thing I’ve done which wasn’t strictly allowed like the other day dropping birthday presents off at my dads, they weren’t home and it was ridiculously rainy/windy so I let myself in very quickly and left them on the table. But these people blatantly flouting the rules and posting it for everyone to see is very annoying!!

The weather! Yesterday a glorious summery day, This morning gales and now it's snowing. Sod off!
No snow down my way but it's cold, murky and no way will I be in the garden! Yesterday was really
nice, got some gardening done. Today, bloody annoyed with the weather, I will have to break out the
bloody thermals for going back to work.🤬

*Added* - I spoke too soon, snow flurries! AH Bollocks!

We legit had one main egg we had to find and my mum would write a riddle which led to another one, no mini eggs or ones to find as you’re going along
when I was a child around 30 years ago my dad arranged easter egg hunts for me and my sister in our garden, but I have seen in recent years things like an "easter tree" or wreath or whatever, which I find so bizarre
