I got on the bike for 30 minutes this morning and I’m super proud of this. Had a meeting at 9am and still looked presentable πŸ˜†

Many threads ago during lockdown some tattlers recommended walking videos on youtube. They could be worth trying @marshmallowfluff30 ?

Sharona's Hill is someone I've tried recently, and Lesie Sansone was the original person reccomended. You feel a bit silly at first but it's a fun way to get in some more exercise indoors.

I've been in a psych hospital in the past and totally understand the frustration of med-related weight gain too. Will be thinking of you ❀

I didn’t know these walking videos were a thing! I will have a look into it. I have got the free trial of the pelaton app and it’s actually really good! Did some running today and might try some yoga tomorrow.
i also got 30 mins of unescorted ground leave - I’m sure you will appreciate what a small victory that is 😁

Well done on a good first day @SoManyLiars! Hope today was equally as successful. Don’t worry too much about the toast. You are just at the start of your journey πŸ’ͺπŸ˜€

Get Fit With Rick on YouTube has some great walking tutorials in the house I do them and singalong!

I also second the walking videos. Sharona Hill also does videos with music themes e.g. 00s pop. She also relies on physical gestures to convey the moves which works better for me.

Well I think I managed 1.5l out of my new water bottle today. Why do I feel so much better when I drink enough water? πŸ˜‚ Really physically demanding day at work so have treated myself to an early night in bed rather than sitting in front of the TV stuffing myself with crisps. A bit of a win.

Oh and I've started hiding food ads on Facebook. My favourite takeaway appeared with their Tuesday deal which usually attacks my resolve. So I'm hiding these as I go to avoid temptation πŸ™ˆ

Last few days had a lot of health analysis and my doctor discovered I have Hashimoto syndrome.
He convinced me that a lot of people are struggling with thyroid....
Does anybody from our little weight loss group has some experience with it?

I got a special diet and after some more doctor appointments probably starting with medicaments.
On my diet it's written 5-7 small meals.
No sugar, no flour, no pig meat...
Basically no to all the things I am usually eating.

Today I am starting but I am really mentally struggling πŸ™„πŸ˜±
Already in panic what should I eat today πŸ˜…

My sister has Hashimotos, not heard the pork thing but she had been following Joe Wicks 90 day diet and found that one particular month she felt a lot better, I had mentioned eating eggs, yogurt etc and when she looked back, the month she felt better was the month that the Joe Wicks plan was high in those things.

Have a great early night, that is such a good plan. I agree, food ads are a nightmare when you are trying not to be tempted, especially in the evenings.

Well, that sounds hard, but you will adjust to it, what did you end up having today?

So my update today. I forgot to weigh in this morning and it was halfway through the work day by the time I remembered. Otherwise, I think I have done well today, a light lunch and a very healthy evening meal. I do have some snacky yogurts and fruit for later when I get the nibbles, but on Wednesday nights I have a book club meeting and I don't eat there.
Thanks everyone for the walking videos, I am so happy you mentioned those, I had no idea they existed! Being so very overweight, I feel a bit embarrassed outside and I get out of breath and I get cramps in my legs, so I can get myself a bit fitter indoors until I can go out in the real world. Brilliant! :)

I’ve neglected this thread for a good three weeks now. Turns out I fell off the wagon so bloody hard I couldn’t find the thing again to get back on!

Started again on Monday and braved the weigh in today - luckily down to two pounds over what I was before so not feeling too discouraged. Made the effort to workout every day this week so far and been focusing on getting my protein goal in and feeling positive. Going to the theatre with my MIL & SILs on Friday so fingers crossed I don’t go wild at dinner, and then got a Halloween party on Saturday. Luckily, the hosts of the Halloween party have told everyone to eat first as they don’t want to buy too many nibbles due to the cost of living. Boyfriend was a bit disgruntled about it but it works fine for me πŸ˜‚

So interesting! I have Hashimoto’s and over the years my endocrinologists have given me very dodgy opinions. I just ask my primary to check on my blood work now because of my experiences. Your doctor sounds really caring.

I rarely eat refined sugars and use a gluten free substitute for wheat flour. The only exception is sourdough which doesn’t bother my system.

Here were my meals today-

Breakfast: overnight oats with berries, hemp protein and ~2T sunflower seed butter. I add in a tablespoon each of pumpkin seeds, unsweetened cocoa powder, maple syrup and one teaspoon of espresso powder when I’m preparing it.

Lunch: Paneer cubes with steamed butternut squash and diced golden potato

Dinner: 2 poached eggs and a slice of sourdough

Snacks included two squares of dark chocolate and a small gluten free mug cake using leftover whey protein pancake batter from yesterday

The mug cake technically could have been a miniature meal so that brings my total up to 4. I don’t feel hungry at this point though and don’t anticipate eating. I would have some pecans later if I needed a snack though.

I am still overwhelmed with all the informations, but first day was good.
Doctor told me that Hashimoto triggered insulin sensitivity and that I should start new lifestyle and eating pattern so insulin level stay good...

I should start somehow counting kcal, because I am afraid of gaining weight and overstuffing myself 🐷
Maybe someone with more experience with kcal counting could tell me was this all more then 1500kcal...?

1. 1/2 Kiwi
2. 1 big spoon of oatmeal + 1 big spoon of coconut + 1 small spoon of nuts and small spoon of dry grapes
3. Half sandwich (carrot no gluten bread + little bit fish and veggies
4. 1/2 Kiwi
5. 1/2 piece of big fish + bowl full of mixed cooked veggies + 1/2 of carrot bread
6. Big bowl of tomato and pepper salad πŸ₯—
7. Same like number 2 - oatmeal

From drinks - still trying to switch mind to not drink 5 coffees per day...πŸ™„
1. Small Espresso
2. 2 Herbal teas
3. 1/2 instant 2in1 coffee πŸ˜…πŸ·

Thanks a lot for your help and support.
Looking forward to go back to training (at the moment I am spending too much time at doctors for some another check ups as well so I am totally unmotivated and tired... Plus there is also my everyday work... πŸ™„)
This weekend we should go to our sea summer house, so I am looking forward to walk there and enjoy salty air...

@SoManyLiars I want to tell you that we are all not in the best shape, and we are all struggling with mental issues with training in public.
(I am always embarrassed about my fat legs while I am covered in sweat with the speed of turtle 🐒 holding Asthma spray 🀣 and running next to the very handsome and fit girls, who are even talking while they are running like Speedy Gonzales 🐭)
We are here for you. πŸ’•
But don't limit yourself only with indoor walking/jogging, you will miss so many beautiful moments.
Maybe you even meet training partner outside.

I don’t think that’s going to be 1500 calories. My ethos is if it’s not processed, I’m unlikely to hit 1500 by eating like a normal person (breakfast, lunch, dinner, one snack).

My dad has to follow a similar protocol to manage his diabetes. He met with a nutritionist that explained what he needs to do and what the macro combination (protein:carbs and max carb intake) of each meal and snack should be for him. Highly recommend doing the same if possible. It changed his life. πŸ’›

ETA: It isn’t difficult to do - he mostly just eats half his breakfast and saves the second half for a morning snack. I believe he does the same with his lunch and turns half into an afternoon snack. The protein and carb pairing is something I avoided because a) I don’t have diabetes and b) carbs had become so demonized. I don’t know when or why I decided to start copying but I’m happy I did. I feel genuinely satisfied after eating.

My drinking at least 1.5 liters of water a day has had a mixed impact. I no longer feel as hunger but I'm running to the toilet constantly πŸ˜‚ My period is due next week and it is usually a side effect of that. I'll be interested to see what impact it has when I start a new cycle.

Hopped on the dodgy scales this morning and raging that I've only dropped a 1lb. Feel like I've been quite disciplined this week. Definitely going to buy a better set of scales when I get paid next week. Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent digital set?

How's everyone doing?

I find weekends incredibly hard as it's much easier to snack at home. The weather has been foul today so we didn't go out much.

One concession we've sort of made is with our takeaway tonight. Usually we get two chippy suppers each. Tonight we're getting one with a extra portion of chips. I know this doesn't sound like much but this is a big concession for us.

Finally, my weight loss journal arrived today. Just waiting for my new scales to arrive so I can start with an accurate measurement of what my weight should be. But it looks like I need to lose 7 stone to be in a healthy BMI category 😳 Hadn't sat down to work it out before that was quite scary reading that.

Hello! That is a great change, still enjoying what you want but having less! Probably saving pennies too!!
I have had a tough week felt very low but today I did my first ever park run (I walked it) I was 305th out of 309 people but I showed up and did it! Feel bloody proud of myself! Eaten well today too so double win!

Enjoy your chippy tea that is my favourite takeaway!

I too need to lose 7 stone, seems so frightening I have a friend who weighs 7.5stone so I basically need to lose her perhaps minus her head! πŸ˜‚

We can do it, one step at a time! Xxx
