I found it really hard too at first! Just go at a nice slow steady pace, don’t push yourself too much. There were plenty of times where I couldn’t quite run for as long as they told me to. It gets easier and you learn to control your breathing while running! I always have a banana or something before I go for a run to give me a bit of a boost!
thank you 🙏🏻 I think the pace thing is what made it so tricky for me today - I need to reign it in and take it gently. Thank you for the banana tip too! Xx

Do you know what I’m so glad I’ve got this group for accountability! Would have definitely fallen off the wagon by now I think. Had a couple of bad days good wise but reading you guys being so positive and supportive to one another is exactly what I need.

Today I had porridge etc for breakfast, egg fried rice with some chunks of beef for lunch and then fajitas for dinner. Wasn’t going to have wraps or cheese or even mayo but turns out fajitas are surprisingly low cal including the wraps (by low cal I mean like 500cals for 3 full wraps) buuuut ended up having wraps cheese and mayo as was called into work last minute and needed some energy as was to be a long night. Also had a twirl and some malteasers (again) (I think I need to ban these from my house cos “fun size” my arse) so unsure what my total calories for the day was as didn’t weigh the cheese/mayo etc but hopefully stayed under 2000 for at least a 1lb loss this week. Need to just keep reminding myself I’m 15lbs down and not to undo all my hard work so far.

Been off-plan for about a week and a half - I've been too exhausted to be able to cook or to care about eating healthily - I've gone from doing daily 5-8km walks after work to doing literally nothing for two weeks but working (from home), watching TV and sleeping. I'm hoping it's just a phase, I've literally never been so tired in my life and the annoying thing is that I'm not even doing anything to warrant being tired.

Thank you to everyone who mentioned NutraCheck though - I downloaded the free trial and it is miles better than MFP. Esspecially because it gives me a lot more calories to play with - MFP told me to eat 1200 to lose 1/2 lb a week with no exercise whereas NC told me to eat 1950 to lose 1/2 lb a week with no exercise - that's a massive difference! If NC is correct then it's no wonder I always struggled with calorie counting when doing 1100-1200, esspecially when exercising - my deficit would have been too large to be sustainable long-term.

I'm planning to aim for a range rather than a number - anything from 1400-2000 depending on how I hungry feel on the day. Ended up at 1411 today with grapes, two mini tuna and tomato wraps, carrot and pea soup, a pack of doritos, a toffee crisp and a chickpea and vegetable pilaf. The best part is that I've managed to make leftovers for both lunch and tea tomorrow so that'll make things easier.

Oh interesting to hear! Thank you!
I'll give it a go but they're not expensive so won't stress if they're not too nice! The sweetness shouldn't be too much of a problem but hope I can cook it without it burning! I grate my cheese very finely as you get more for the weight so I'll see how it goes!!

I'll keepin mind about the cake bar haha! I'm looking at the brownie mix but reviews are mixed. I'll see how the pizza goes first!!
I have lo dough pizzas quite regularly, I’ve always managed to get away with not covering the whole base in cheese by making sure it’s all covered in a light coating of passata. When I say light I mean like 2.5-3 dessert spoons of it spread across the whole base.

I then just add a handful of grated cheese and some mushrooms and jalapeños - I find that the base doesn’t really taste of anything at all so something really flavourful as a topping helps

I fell off track last weekend. I kept feeling like I wanted to eat all the time. I think this was due to PMS and lack of water. My water intake last weekend was terrible and now I'm paying for it this week. I feel like I could drink a whole river! And last night around 10pm I had an intense craving for vegetable thai green curry :ROFLMAO: I'm going to blame that on my period starting any day now and craving salt again due to the time of the month. I'm going to make a veg thai green curry later this week with a heavy emphasis on the vegetables.

I can’t have dinner too early or the danger zone just moves to the evening 🤣🤣 last week I got out on a walk for a little while to distract me but bloody storm Christoph is putting stops to all those plans😅 didn’t do anything today and didn’t have the urge to go and eat everything in the cupboard so maybe it’s just a getting used to it kind of thing
Haha I feel you. Sometimes I just go get comfy in bed and laziness beats snackiness 😂

Well apparently I have logged on my app for an 18 day streak and only been over 1200 kcal once. Yesterday I had a flat white and was 9 kcal over lol. I was actually a bit annoyed at myself but my fiance was like, you have been 1/2 kcal below the last couple of days. Over a week it will even out. But still...

Tonight I'm making pizza topped chips so excited! I don't remember who was mentioning about making your own chips, bit last night I went back to it and it was so good felt like I got so many more haha

I had wee look at them, looks like they're made with konjac, I think that's the same as the low kcal noodles. I find them quite chewy with quite a lot of bite. Not horrendous but weird texture. What's it like with the pizza base? Is the texture nice?

Three full days of counting calories. I wouldn't say I'm physically hungry but I'm very aware of how much I was overeating or eating for the sake of it and I'm really trying to adjust to the new amounts of food. If I'm bored or I have a headache I have to just sit with that feeling and ride through it rather than eating which is a new sensation for me.

Yes! The hardest thing for me to get used to every time I cut is the idea of feeling 'not hungry' rather than 'full' because they're so different and whenever I'm eating loads I get "not hungry" confused with "hungry need to eat"! Its like unless I'm actually full I need to eat to feel full again, which isn't the case at all really

Finally the weather is better! Goodbye storm !!!

I got addicted to those konjac noodles a few years ago and the consequences were not good. The smell of the packaging was 🤢.

As an ex teacher I decided that I needed to get on the scales after a stern talking to. We tell the students all the time “you need to know where you are now, where do you want to be and what you need to do to get there” in order for them to reach their target grades.

I was blissfully ignorant of where I was. Now I know 🙄😬😞😂.

Btw I hate the way food calories work with cooked and uncooked versions grrrr. Pasta particularly.

Using as a pizza base is probably the nicest texture they have. Uncooked is not a pleasant texture (and they do have a strange smell). I also used them for burritos (with turkey mince stuffing) but as I said you must be careful because they can burn easily. The top went crispy but the rest was quite spongy.

I’ve decided that with most low fat or low carb options, I’d rather have less of the real thing otherwise you’re using up calories for something you don’t really like.

Ughhhh I just had the worst scrambled egg and toast for lunch 😒 you know when it’s so dry it absorbs all the moisture in your mouth. It was crying out for some butter. What a waste of calories 😤

Looking forward to the better weather at the weekend though, I’ve planned out some new walks 🙌🏻

This was one of my issues with slimming world (esspecially the instagrammers) and their syn-free cakes made out of quark and several cups of sweeteners. I'd rather just have a small bit of cake.

I've decided to try intermittent fasting. I do 16/8 anyway naturally (never eaten breakfast, have lunch at 12, finish dinner by 7pm then stop eating) and I've been noticing that I'm feeling fine (a bit hungry but fine) before lunch then crap in the afternoon. The other day I didn't have time to have lunch at work and I felt absolutely fine.
Gonna have my dinner as planned tonight with a protein shake if I can go that long. If not I'll have a shake before that if I start feeling weird. Feel fine right now, have been adding himalayan salt to my water which helps electrolyte levels stay stable.

I’m currently doing WW as it’s worked for me in the past, but got massively derailed by lockdown and ate/drank like there was no tomorrow. The number of takeaways 😬

I’ve not tried Slimming World although I know some people are evangelical about it. I couldn’t get my head around the types of food that you could have unlimited amounts of (like pasta, rice and potatoes) because I don’t think I would lose weight without reining in my portion control, particularly with carbs.

I’m finding that I’m using a big proportion of my allowance on butter, olive oil and avocado because I really hate the low-fat options. Fry light is horrible and doesn’t really work, I saw how margarine was made on Sugar Free Farm (on ITV) a few years ago and it put me right off (so many chemicals). I feel the same with excessive use of sweeteners to replace sugar.

Ooo good to know! May try it out, I'll try everything once and if it's nice to me then even better haha.

I totally agree with just having less, I've been eating off my side plates (which are new and are actually quite big smaller than a dinner plate but bigger than an average side plate). Definitely helps me not feel as sad 😂.

I used to do slimming world and I hated it. My mum is obsessed with it and tbf she has lost a lot of weight but she doesn't do all that daft stuff with sweetener. I think she likes it for the socialisation.

I think it works for people who just live off junk food and oven food and so when they start cooking they lose so much weight.

Whereas I knew how to cook and my portion control was soooo out of whack so it didn't work for me. I need to weigh stuff or I could easily eat my body weight in pasta 😂

Today started off well but is wrapping up on a not so high note haha. Had a filling breakfast (one fried egg, half a slice of wholegrain bread, 5-6 halves of walnuts and a piece of cheese with tea), didn't snack in the morning at all and had some breaded chicken with pasta for lunch. Chicken was leftover and it was the size of my palm and pasta was around 160 gr (weighed it for the first time!) which is probably more than I needed but hey ho. However I had an ED relapse, I'll spare you the details. After feeling tit about life for a while, I had dumplings and yogurt for dinner and some almonds and chocolate covered pistachios for a snack. To get my mind out of its funk, I did this workout and feeling better for it! Now I'm drinking water and not planning to eat until tomorrow morning when I'm hungry for breakfast again. I will make myself some herbal tea though. The workout was surprisingly better than I expected i.e. more demanding, I thought I'd be bored out of my mind but towards the end of the fast pace part, I was feeling it.

Hope you're having a good day!

Hope you’re okay ☹
thanks for recommending the workout, I was looking for something to do tonight because I’ve really hurt my ankles skipping earlier in the week so this looks ideal.

I find this too! Sometimes can go hours later if it’s my first meal of the day, but once I’ve had that, sometimes it can seem like an age until dinner!!

Thank you, I'm okay now! Hope the workout will be okay for you, it's still walking but because you're not moving from your spot too much I didn't find it puts too much weight on my ankle (which is also dodgy). x

Hope you’re okay! Managing to do exercise and shake yourself out of a funk is a massive massive win so make sure you give yourself credit for it!
Just done this exact video! Really enjoyed it and nice and easy to fit in after work if they weather is rubbish and I can’t get out! Might try and do something similar daily then get out on a long walk at the weekend! Thanks for posting it!

I did okay on slimming world (lost two stone before putting it back on since lockdown 1) but I think that's because I had a lot of weight to lose so eating at least one third speed kept me under my TDEE easily. If someone is looking to lose one stone to get to target I think they'd struggle on the plan.

The SW members pack mentions a few times that you need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight but some leaders ignore this and never bring it calories or portion sizes. There was a couple at my group last year and, still being fairly large, they hadn't lost anything for over three months and ended up crying in group. I felt really sad for them and the leader didn't suggest reducing portions at all.
