What are people going for for entrance songs? I haven’t even given a thought to music
I second the nude underwear but I ended up whipping my bra off at the appointments to get a proper viewI’m going to my first wedding dress appointment on Saturday! Any tips? Anything I should take? I have no idea on hair or shoes yet as probably depends on the dress.... but thinking maybe I should take a clip to pin hair up so I can see what it’s like?
I’m having Pachelbel’s Canon in D. I know it’s a bit basic but I love it. We have a string quartet so I think it will sound beautifulWhat are people going for for entrance songs? I haven’t even given a thought to music![]()
thank youI second the nude underwear but I ended up whipping my bra off at the appointments to get a proper view
I would recommend doing your hair and makeup nicely to get an idea of what you’ll look like on the day. I went to an appointment all relaxed and felt ‘meh’ about some dresses as I didn’t look finished if that makes sense.
Have fun and if you feel comfortable, take recommendations from the shop assistants. My dress wasn’t one that I picked out initially but they found for me based on my likes/dislikes as I tried others on. Don’t feel pressured to say yes on your first visit and take lots of photos and videos so you can look back, see how the dresses looked and moved on you and how they photograph.

Wedding Coordinator hereFYI for everyone who like me is massively unaware of how to plan a wedding…
We’re 8 weeks away and suddenly being asked for timings, and exact plans for the day.. stuff I had no idea I needed to have decided this early![]()
I think I didn’t realise that the meeting I had today was our final details meetingWedding Coordinator here
Depends on venue, but most final details such as those, don't need be finalised until your final details meeting. This is normally between one month to 6 weeks before your wedding date
For the final details meet you will need
-Your preferred timings for everything
-details of your suppliers i.e. is there certain things arriving at certain times like your cake
-your final numbers
- meal choices and any guests with dietary requirements
- table plan
- music choices (you will need 3-4 songs for guests arriving, your aisle song, 2 songs for signing register and a leaving the ceremony song)
- also ask what they do in terms of the wedding breakfast, if they provide music or ask if you can give them a Spotify playlist
- remember to ask if there is a master of ceremonies, because if not you will need to assign someone to make announcements and also make sure there is a PA system in the venue for speeches.
General rule of thumb is 20%of your total guests can't come for what ever reasonJust sorted the guest list! We’re on 81 but allowed 75 guests, but I’m pretty atleast 6 won’t come so should be fine![]()
Have you got your marriage notice? Because thats the most important thing reallyI think.. we’re sorted. I think we had done everything we need to do.
What have I forgotten?![]()

Nope the only child we’re having is my 4 year old niece as she’s a flower girl, she’s the only child in our families, but not having any others as I want people to enjoy a day child free!Sorry I haven’t actually read all of the thread yet so this might have already been mentioned, but are you all having children at your weddings? We’ve decided not to (except for our own who will be 2 and my flower girl) - if we did, there’d be 23 of them all under 10! How did your guests react when you told them, did anyone get anyone moaning about it?
Thank godNo, it’s the registrar equivalent of having your Banns reading
I have a big family and we decided that we would just invite the aunties & uncles to the ceremony on my side and then invite the cousins and their children to the evening.Just found this thread, I’m off to view potential wedding venues today! 👰🏻♀️
Originally we were planning to get married abroad in a few years time. But since having a baby (and not wanting to wait ages to have another) I feel like I just want to do it asap! So now we’re looking at a smaller wedding in this country, hopefully next year
My partner has a huuuuge family, and even though he doesn’t really know a lot of them he feels like he has to invite them. So we’ve decided to have an intimate ceremony with only our immediate families and closest friends, then everyone else will be invited to the evening. I don’t think they will all come either so I’m hoping to keep the numbers still fairly low!

Us too we’re just having aunties and uncles, and only 3 cousins each that we actually bother with, the rest of the cousins will be invited to the eveningI have a big family and we decided that we would just invite the aunties & uncles to the ceremony on my side and then invite the cousins and their children to the evening.
I’m not having children to the day, but the only person who has a child is my maid of honour and her child will be almost 3 then and she’s happy not to bring him along as it will be a faff as she said!
I added it up and all of my cousins, plus their partners & their children came to 45 peopleUs too we’re just having aunties and uncles, and only 3 cousins each that we actually bother with, the rest of the cousins will be invited to the evening
