Anyone else stressing about their hen party
Just background
My job used to literally be to plan hen partys and stag dos, so I know they can be stressful to organise, I've had brides on the phone crying before because people have let them down etc.
I've organised a hen do for my sister in law and it was stressful enough getting money together etc.
So I just figured I'd plan my own, and I have all the ideas written down, I have the costs, I've got timings figured out, and I'm going to go through someone like go hen so I don't have to chase people for money (I ended up £120 down for my sister in laws because people just wouldn't pay or didn't show up last minute).
But my friends are adamant theyre going to arrange my hen party for me, and I've just got visions of them all arguing and stressing the way I have in the past 🙃

I’m not really having a hen party as such. My bridesmaids are my childhood best friend & my SIL to be.

I’m not really into lots of drinking or anything (I know I sound boring😂). So we are either going to go for a spa day or we will just go somewhere nice for a meal and a couple of cocktails. Plus my MOH is disabled, as is my mum and as they’re both coming, I can’t do anything strenuous, which is fine by me!

You’ve reminded me of that film “bridesmaids”..: can just imagine people throwing bits of cookie and kicking off 😂

I’ll be honest, I’m way too laid back to stress about the wedding (apart from worrying if covid will cancel it). I’ve never had visions in my head of a “perfect” wedding, weddings aren’t hugely my thing, but I’m doing it to marry my best friend. As long as we get married and we get some nice photos, I’m not too fussed about much else! I know most people would disagree though and I understand it’s very important to some people that every detail is perfect! 😁

Not gonna lie, when my job was organising hen partys, that's what it was like sometimes.
I once had a bride calling, bawling her eyes out, because he friends promised to organise her hen do and it got to the day before and all they had done was book a travel lodge on Newcastle City centre, no activities or anything, just the hotel, because apparently none of them could agree on activities so just decided to not book anything 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

My idea of hell would be dreamboys or something kind of make stripper show
Or a bar crawl, I just want to do karaoke and have some cocktails 😂😂

I'm thinking a bottomless brunch with everyone and then more cocktails/bar/night out with everyone who wants to!

Maybe an escape room cos they're always fun!

Im going to a spa for the evening with a couple of my close friends for my hen… organised by me. Don’t like fuss, don’t want to be the centre of attention, don’t really drink so suits me just fine

I want to organise my own hen too! I’m planning to do a bottomless brunch and then book a few bars to go on to afterwards. I want to include my mum/aunts/MIL etc so that way they can come but go home whenever they’ve had enough.

One of my friends keeps saying it’s a good excuse to go to Las Vegas but I’m not really fussed about anything like that - I know not everyone will be able to/want to spend that sort of money and I don’t want to have to leave people out.

I'm thinking of planning my own hen do. I want something simple people can pop to and from as they please, I do not want it to cost people anything they cannot or want to afford. I'm thinking afternoon tea and maybe a craft activity (all my friends and family are crafty) and then onto somewhere for cocktails. I'm not sure who to invite, I don't have loads of friends so do I invite them all or just the core few.

This was my hen do I had planned
Bottomless brunch
Escape room
"Party" Apartment
A cocktail masterclass with the person coming to our apartment and a grazing board to eat whilst we do the class/after the class
We get ready, play some games in the apartment
Then go to karaoke in our own private pod and then dance the night away in popworld 😂😂

One thing I cba with is I have a friend that expects us to spend ridiculous amounts of money on her birthday every year because she always plans over the top stuff, but when it comes to us she always says "it too much money"
Back story, my first wedding, my first hen do was planned and the total cost was £250per person, gave everyone 10 months notice to give people plenty of time to save, this friend told me she couldn't afford it and said my other friends messaged her privately saying they couldn't either (this turned out to not be true) so I changed all the plans, got rid of half the stuff I wanted to do, it went from being 2 nights to one, and went down to £120 a head. And this friend that made me change everything ended up not even coming... and then 3 months later wanted us to drop £200+ on her 25th birthday celebrations with 2 weeks notice 🙃🙃
Think this time around I'll be growing a back bone

Doesn't really sound like much of a friend 🙄 wouldn't be gone on hen parties but my MOH is organising it and it's a suprise... I've little to no say!

Hen do wise I've always fancied a chilled one at a lodge with a hot tub, take your own drink, order takeaway, can stay in pyjamas or get glammed up if you want! Ive been to families hen dos abroad which are so good but the cost mounts up so quickly

Word of warning to you all. I went to one where one of the activities was a drawing of a life model. One of the bridesmaids suggested it after going to one where the guy was very conventionally attractive. Not my cup of tea but, went along with it all. Now I don’t want to be rude but, I’ve never met a more 🤢 man. He had BO, a dead tooth and looked like a Victorian suffering from the plague. His ball sack was also twice the size of his fool and he shouted at me for drawing it like that. I said, I can only draw what I can see 🤷🏼‍♀️ So please, if anyone suggests it - SAY NO!

Omg I actually thought about doing this after watching them do it on Stay Close 🤣

I’m not sure I’ll even bother with a hen do. I don’t have loads of friends to invite, 2 at most who are women and id consider actual friends. Have a fair few female family members who would massively outnumber the friends and I’d worry the friends would feel awkward, but maybe I’m over thinking it. If I were to do one I’d want to organise it myself, something like a day out at a theme park is more my thing rather than going into town for cocktails. Maybe go to a pub afterwards for drinks if anyone wants to. I’d want to avoid anything involving an over night stay as the costs can mount up quickly and I don’t want to put that on anyone. I don’t know what to do, starting to feel like I hate every tradition going when it comes to weddings. They all seem to appeal to people who are confident and super sociable with loads of friends I am none of those things😂

Fun facts for everyone after taking about hen dos
The average cost for a UK hen do is currently between £200-300 per head
And if you're going abroad, a head spinning £800-900 per head 😳😳😳

Christ. I wouldn't want to spend that much on a friends hen do so I won't expect them to for mine
